I prefer a muesli type cereal, and I especially like a cereal that has no added sugar. This particular blend has plenty of added fruit to be sweet and large pieces of coconut for flavor. I thought the price per box was fair for the price given the amount of dates, raisins, and coconut. Will buy again when it becomes available.

Very tricky. I used to buy Dorset all the time, then they went out of stock. When they came back on Amazon I re-ordered a pack of 5 and I was very surprised:

1. This is half the size the previous ones used to be and for the same price.

2. It's toasted wheat and flakes. It's like Granola not the Muesli such as Steinbracher and Mumu's where you get rolled oat and barley.

I though Dorset was good, but not anymore. Last time! If only Amazon sold MuMu, the best cereal in the States at least made in the USA, up state NY. Why import cereals when we have the best one here... We are paying a premium to ship a bad product trans the Atlantic ocean and contributing to air pollution and CO2 emission.

Peace Cereal Hearty Low Fat Clusters and Flakes Cereal Raisin Bran -- 10.5 oz

Peace Cereal Hearty Low Fat Clusters and Flakes Cereal Raisin Bran -- 10.5 ozThis cereal is made with the following ingredients, per the listing on the box: "Whole wheat flour, raisins (raisins, vegetable glycerin, vegetable oil [canola and/or sunflower oil]), wheat bran, milled cane sugar, barley malt syrup, whole rolled oats, vegetable oil (canola and/or safflower and/or sunflower oil), rice flour, oat fiber, salt, honey, annatto (for color), turmeric (for color), mixed tocopherols (natural vitamin E to maintain freshness), cardamom seed, fennel seed, fenugreek seed, nutmeg. Contains wheat. Produced in a facility that processes tree nuts, wheat and soy."

Each one-cup serving is 190 calories, about 80 calories more than Kellogg's Raisin Bran (KRB). It has more fat than KRB, but also more fiber and more protein. This bran cereal contains 2 g fat (18 calories), 44 g of carbohydrates (176 calories) of which 8 g is fiber. The fiber is equivalent to 32 calories, which are not digestible by the body and can effectively be subtracted from the 176 calories for carbs, bringing it down to 144 calories. It has 6 g protein (32 calories). That comes to a total calorie count of 194, which is very close to the 190 calories listed. The minimal difference is because carbs and protein are slightly less than 4 calories per gram, and fat is slightly less than 9 calories per gram.

This cereal is described by the manufacturer as "whole grain oat clusters," and given that the recipe for making them is different than Kellogg's Raisin Bran, it is not surprising that they don't taste the same as that product. However, in their own right they taste quite good.

This product is not sugar-free, but it uses natural sweeteners which are slightly less unhealthy than the white sugar, brown sugar or high fructose corn syrup that KRB uses. These natural sweeteners consist of milled cane sugar, barley malt syrup, and honey. The milled cane sugar and barley malt syrup are vegan, by the way, but honey is not considered to be vegan, so it is too bad the manufacturer added it to this cereal, or they could have had another selling point. In terms of health, though, the truth is, all sweeteners which are either fructose or sucrose, which each of the sweeteners mentioned above are, raise blood glucose levels. The advantage for controlling blood-glucose spikes that this cereal offers over and beyond what KRB provides is more fiber, more protein and a little bit more fat, all of which act like anchors on blood glucose levels, lessening spikes of blood glucose due to the relatively large percentage of carbs that any breakfast cereal contains, no matter who makes it.

A true advantage of this cereal over KRB is that it contains no artificial coloring, flavoring or preservatives. (Note that the KRB ingredient list does not admit to any coloring agents or preservatives, which I find very odd and very likely a dishonest omission--it's simply not possible that it has no preservatives in it of any kind to maintain freshness. Here are all the ingredients listed on the KRB box and on the Kellogg's website: "Whole grain wheat, raisins, wheat bran, sugar, brown sugar syrup, contains 2% or less of salt, malt flavor.")

What this cereal has used to color, flavor and preserve its cereal are an impressive list of very healthy substances. Mixed tocopherols maintain freshness. This is the form of vitamin E that is best absorbed in the body. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that fights cancer and heart disease. Annatto and turmeric are used to color the cereal. Annatto is rich in antioxidants that function similarly to vitamin E, and turmeric is particularly well known for its anti-inflammatory properties. This cereal also contains cardamom seed, fennel seed, and fenugreek seed, all of which are strong aids to digestion. Studies on the action of fenugreek have also found it is helpful in controlling cholesterol and blood-sugar levels. Nutmeg has antibacterial action, in particular combating the bacteria that cause tooth decay. In addition, nutmeg contains compounds protective of the heart and that help prevent Alzheimer's. It also tastes great and, much like cinnamon, when used in baked goods or cereals, can cause them to taste sweeter so that less sugar is needed.

There is no mention of this product being organic, though the company makes this sales pitch: "By effectively combining the finest all natural ingredients, sustainable practices and regular giving to worthy causes, Peace Cereal truly delivers Peace of Mind in Every Bite!"

All in all, as high-carb cereals go, this one is a good bet. It is not safe for people with wheat or soy allergies, though, and diabetics would be better off eating a cereal with no sweetener of any kind and using a natural sweetener with no calories that does not raise the blood sugar like stevia powder.

EnviroKidz Organic Chocolate Koala Crisp Cereal, 11.5-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

EnviroKidz Organic Chocolate Koala Crisp Cereal, 11.5-Ounce BoxesThe title pretty much says it all. I reserve 5 stars for what I consider the best of the best. I wanted a gluten-free cereal that was different from the few I've been eating over the years. This is definitely NOT like the usual "crispy rice." It's much more substantial (not "90% air"), has a nice, though not too strong, cocoa flavor, and doesn't get soggy in the first two minutes after milk (or other drink product) is poured on it.

Another rater talked about empty calories. I'll be generous and assume that reviewer is not particularly familiar with reading (and comparing) nutrition labels. If a high quality rice is also considered "empty calories," that review would be valid. But comparing the Koala Crisp nutrition label to the nutrition label on a high quality rice reveals almost identical nutritional values perhaps because Koala Crisp IS a high quality rice. Just as rice has never been claimed to be a fully balanced meal, neither is Koala Crisp. What it is, is a high quality product made with high quality ingredients (none of the artificial vitamins and minerals added to "grocery store" cereals to make them look better). And it's designed to be used as part of a balanced diet.

With that out of the way, It's just plain good. I buy it by the case, and eat it several times per week for breakfast, I like it that much. And no, I have no connection with the company at all I just love their products (many of them not just this one). Now, if they'd just add this one to their line of Eco-pak cereals (large, bulk bags), I'd be even happier.

We absolutely love this cereal ... eat it quite frequently ;-) We have also found out the little ones absolutely go crazy for it. Best of all, no mil or wheat for those of us with such allergies.

With the handful of cereals that are available for celiac children, we found this cereal exceptional. It is very tasty and has a good texture.

My kids love this cereal. It is hard to find gluten free breakfast options. We do eat fruit and yogurt, but sometimes you just need carbs and sugar to seem normal again. For the 3 celiacs in our family, feeling normal is a big thing.

I love the ceral. I don't need it for a special diet I just like that it isn't loaded with high fructose corn syrup and there is some fiber in it. I have been buying it at kroger for months and paying 2X the price per box.

Quaker Instant Oatmeal High Fiber Cinnamon Swirl, 8-Count Box (Pack of 6)

Quaker Instant Oatmeal High Fiber Cinnamon Swirl, 8-Count BoxEach packet of this high fiber instant oatmeal contains about 12 grams of fiber. I have two envelopes each morning which brings me almost to my daily goal of 30 grams per day. It is very easy to pick up the remaining 5+ grams during the remaining meals of the day. I have type 2 diabetes and this regime has stabilized my sugar and had wonderful effects on my digestion! Oh, and it tastes good too!

This oatmeal is great! I love both the cinnamon swirl and maple varieties. The best part is they both have 12g of fiber per serving and just 150 calories! That is half of your daily fiber! It is the perfect breakfast...fast, tastey, and healthy!

Authentic Hollandaise Sauce - Delouis Fils - pack of 4

Authentic Hollandaise Sauce - Delouis Fils - pack of 4I've made my own Hollandaise for many years based on several recipes I was able to garner from some of the 5 star restaurant's chefs, and they were all palate pleasers. I decided to try a bottled one in order to save the time it takes to make it at home. After reading the 1st and only review for this product (which was a 5 star...I think the customer might have been trying to get someone else sucked into buying it!), I decided to try it. I purchased 4 jars. BIG mistake! This is the WORST TASTING Hollandaise I could ever imagine! Tried it at room temp, then tried heating it to see if the bitter taste would go away but to no avail. This stuff is horrible! The only nice thing about the product is the shape of the jar. I'm going to make a huge batch of my own home made Hollandaise and store it in the jars. Thought about giving the three unopened jars away, but I don't have any enemies I hate THAT much! I poured their contents down the toilet (hope it doesn't ruin my sewage system!) and thoroughly washed the bottles for my own use.

If you're looking to have a great Hollandaise sauce at home, I highly recommend you MAKE it at home!

This is a really fine hollandaise that keeps indefinitely in the fridge after being opened, or on the shelf before opening. It's just the ticket for a quick Eggs Benedict. The maker's Bearnaise is not always available, but to turn this into a creamy Bearnaise, all you have to do is microwave some tarragon in a tablespoon of butter, then stir in the Hollandaise.

I have been buying this product at Whole Foods for years, but I was thrilled to find it on Amazon, which saves me a longish drive. This is a dream product that lets the home cook prepare some really special dishes, and I recommend it highly.

I had been purchasing the same brand only in plastic containers. This is far superior, more flavor even though a little thinner, the taste is outstanding. Will buy the "jar" variety from now on.
