Love Grown Foods Oat Clusters and Love, Apple Walnut Delight, 12-Ounce (Pack of 3)

When I bought this product it was sold by Amazon and now it isn't so keep that in mind when reading my review.

This granola is drier than some other brands I have tried but it is like that whether you buy it from here or in the store. I have tried many flavors of this brand of granola and they're all really good. I really like this one in particular it has apple pieces, walnuts and a hint of cinnamon. I typically eat it plain as an afternoon snack. The best part about this granola is that it is gluten free (most brands of granola aren't)!

I love this granola! I picked it up on a whim at a Marshall's in their specialty food section and now buy it online because I can't find it anywhere else! To me, this is what granola should be big, crunchy clusters, lots of fruit, not too sweet, just a hadful of nuts. The ingredients list can't be beat, either only whole, natural foods, ingredients you can pronounce, no GMOs, no HFCS, no refined sugars. Just tasty ingredients. The recloseable bag makes it so easy to just keep stashed in my bag to snack on throughout the day.

This product was really delicious. I bought it because it has the dried apples in it. I can't devour like I wanted to because the agave nectar doesn't agree with me.

A good product that is typical of pseudo healthy foods. LOts of good stuff but WAY too

much sugar to be a healthy product. What do they think, we're still kids and

want our sugar popped cereal?

Bear Naked Granola Heavenly Chocolate -- 12 oz Each

I love the fruit and nut from this company, so since I love chocolate I figured I'll give this a try. It just didn't do it for me! It was more about the taste for me, I just didn't like the chocolate taste. And I think it's just personel taste! But it was fresh, bag was full. We use STO for hot porridge or cold homemade smoothies an average of five mornings a week, year round.

Took me about 8 months to get through the first. I just boil a whole cup of it every morning. makes a filling oatmeal breakfast... it takes long time to cook though, so it's good to hydrate during cooking and eat fruit and other protein & vitamin stuff. I repackaged it to keep it fresh until we use it all. Hoping it works. If it does, then I'll purchase again because of the cost savings. Quality is as good as any other steel cut oats I've purchased.

Steel cut oats are expensive at the grocery store and we prefer them for their nutritional quality, i.e. they digest slower. They don't go bad so buying 50 pounds is not a problem. We just put them in two large covered buckets. They are good quality oats no different from the ones in the store. Since they are steel cut, they cook best if you soak them in the refrigerator overnight.

Country Choice Organic Fit Kids Instant Oatmeal (Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Toast) Variety Pack, 8 Co

unfortunately, this oatmeal doesn't really fit the bill for me or or my kids. while the ingredient list looks good, the added sugar is a bit high (but no worse than the norm) and i wondered why they added the extra vitamins. also, the packages are a bit smaller than quaker, and while that isn't a problem in and of itself, each package has as much simple sugars added as the slightly larger quaker (even though the box says: "now less sugar")! but the kids are the final judge on this one, and my kids don't really like it. my 6 yr old wouldn't eat either flavor without adding maple syrup. they are pretty high in sugar to start, but adding more sugar just to get her to eat it completely minimizes the nutritional value. my 14 yr old says she doesn't like the texture AT ALL and has basically refused to eat it. i would definitely recommend buying just one box to try it before spending the money on a case as i did!

CytoSport Muscle Milk N Oats Whole Grain Oatmeal Maple Brown Sugar -- 2 oz

I had one of these this morning and was pleasantly surprised. Specs were something like 30g protein, 32g carbs, 6g fat. The consistency is a little finer/mushier than typical instant oatmeal would be, but that's to be expected with the addition of the protein. The overall taste was good though with a mild sweetness and no bitterness or aftertaste.

I wouldn't want to eat it every morning, but for those lazy mornings, it's a quick way to get some warm protein before heading out the door. I'll try the vanilla tomorrow. Can't see myself eating cocoa flavored oatmeal though, so I'll pass on that one.

Powdered Egg Whites - 2.25 Pound Can

I buy a good deal of liquid egg whites and just recently discovered the powdered form, which would save all kinds of time/money/energy. I went ahead and purchased the 2.25lb jar, but not from here. Honeyville's company website lists the exact same 2.25lb egg white can for 23.99 and 4.49 flat shipping for any order. Amazon's price as of this writing is 32.49.

Amazon.com shopping tip: if there is only one price shown for the product, as opposed to a 'list price' with a line crossed through it and a cheaper, generic 'price' underneath, then there are likely better options available elsewhere.

I purchased Honeyville Food Products' Powdered Egg Whites for many years directly from Honeyville Farms. During that time, the ingredient labels on the cans have always stated: "Ingredients: Powdered Egg Whites" and nothing else. I will say that I love this product. Even cooked in butter as scrambled eggs with just a little salt, it tastes like whole fresh eggs to me. Definitely no offensive odor or taste.

Eariler this week I was going to purchase another can when I happened to look at the ingredients listed on their Web site -"Ingredients: Egg Whites, less than 0.1% sodium lauryl sulfate (added as a whipping aid)". This came as a great surprise to me, I thought they had started using SLS as an additive. I decided to do some research and couldn't find anything about SLS except that it is used in soaps, shampoos and toothpastes. Nowhere was there a mention of it being in food. I went so far as to question the FDA. Yesterday I wrote the following e-mail to the Director of E-Commerce of Honeyville Food Products, Inc. and received a reply today:

"I have purchased your powdered egg whites for a number of years and have been extremely happy with them. I also purchase some of your other products that do not contain additives or preservatives...

I am very unhappy to see that Sodium Lauryl Sulfate has been added (to your powdered egg whites). Although this additive is approved by the FDA, I see little use for it to be in an egg product. I realize SLS has been used for many years in soaps, shampoos and other products that are expected, by the general public, to foam. But, these are products that are used externally and then rinsed off. Even then, SLS is an irritant to some people. I also realize that the FDA requires SLS to be used in lesser amounts where foods are concerned, but when using a product daily as I do the powdered egg whites (for smoothies) I worry about the build-up over time.

The only possibility I can see why this additive is being used is because of meringue. I made meringues numerous times with your egg whites and they have always come out high and beautiful -there was never a need for SLS".

Following is the reply I received today:

"I'm sorry to hear that we've lost you as an Egg White customer. Our Egg Whites have always had the small amount of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate as a whipping aid. When Egg Whites are pasteurized they lose the whipping characteristics that fresh egg whites have. I appreciate the feedback and will weigh it against that of the customers that need the Egg Whites to whip up. Thanks and have a great day.

Well, now I know why my meringues turned out so beautiful -because of a surfactant used in what I thought was a simple and pure product. I don't want to vilify SLS, I'm just looking for honesty in marketing so I can make a choice.

I gave this review only one star because I was not given that choice.

I recently started a diet where I could only eat the egg white, not the yolk because of the fat content. I make a fruit smoothie every morning using egg whites as my protein source. Recently on a new diet (that works) Cannot eat whole eggs so was trying to find a large container for a good price. Honeyville grain company has this 2.25 lb can for $14.99. I paid $13.99 for 57 egg white in a 8 oz can Figure this out This can has 301 egg whites.

I have been weight training and trying to eat a higher protein diet. I can no longer bear the sight of turkey, egg-white omelets or cottage cheese. I dislike artificial sweeteners (mostly due to their taste) so I don't care for any pre-made shakes I have tried. I turned to whey protein (bleck...maybe more experimentation will yield something better)and soy protein (bleck redux) but couldn't stand them.

But I like this! I wouldn't eat it plain (it's not THAT good), but the taste is easily coverable with yummy and healthy additives. This morning I made a "shake" that was 1C OJ (Tropicana Grovestand), 1/4C (appx) pure pomegranate juice, 1/4C egg whites (22g protein), 1/4C (appx) plain non-fat yogurt, and one banana. I blended these together with a few ice cubes, and yum! Even my kids love it!

It probably has a lot of naturally occuring sugar from the fruits and yogurt, but I am happy with the content and nutrients, and I can drink it happily without forcing it down!

I have tried the Honeyville dried fruits and been pretty happy with them as well (much better blueberries than for pancakes), so I will look forward to adding these for variety when I can't find good fresh fruit.

Quaker Quick Grits - 3/5 lb. bags

While I was pleased to receive the grits, i think the shipping and handling costs were ridiculous. $74.00!!! When I received the documents the actual costs of shipping was abut $35.00. I would think twice before ordering again. :(

Tasteless product in a poor package. Bottom corner of every bag was torn and product leaking into the cardboard container. Looks like someone stacked them too high and Quaker Oats used a package/bag of low quality. Quick grits are tasteless buy the real thing and take the time to cook them right and they taste good, this taste like nothing!

Kellogg's Cereal Favorites Variety Pack, 1.5 to 2.8-Ounce Single Serve Cups (Pack of 60)

This is really a great way to have breakfast at your office or practically anywhere. However, they don't give you an equal distribution of the various cereals. Here is the breakdown (from the side of the box):

16: 2.1oz Frosted Flakes

8 : 1.5oz Froot Loops

12: 2.8oz Rasin Bran Crunch

10: 1.5oz Apple Jacks

10: 1.5oz Corn Pops

4(!): Cocoa Rice Krispies

The main reason I got this over using regular boxes was that I wanted a variety of different cereals. However, there are way too many Frosted Flakes and far too few Rice Krispies. Kind of takes the "variety" out of variety pack.

You will get 60 cups of cereal. Each cup gives you enough cereal and space to pour a 6-8oz of milk. It is very convenient to have the single serving on the go cup. I would of gave a 5 if the quantities were even.

162.1oz Frosted Flakes

10-2.8oz Raisin Bran Crunch

101.5oz Apple Jacks

I take these to work along with little minature milks I pick up at the convenient store. They're quite filling and get me through to lunch just fine. And they're not too bad for you either. Considering they're all the "sugary" cereals your Mom complained about when you were a kid. In fact the one with the highest calorie count (280) is the Rasin Bran, and that's something that would actually be considered "healthy". All the rest fall into the 160-220 range.

EDIT: I edited my original review today because the contents in the assortment have changed. I just got a new box and inside there were:

13 Frosted Flakes

10 Apple Jacks

9 Cocoa Krispies

8 Froot Loops

8 Raisin Bran Crunch

6 Corn Pops

6 Frosted Mini Wheats

I don't know why they don't make the distribution of each type more equal (8 or 9), but they don't. I imagine some must be cheaper to make or something. Still, at least the ones with the most (Frosted Flakes and Apple Jacks) aren't my family's least liked ones and it is a little more evenly distributed than it used to be. We used to always have leftover Raisin Bran Crunch and with each new shipment, the backlog of those got bigger and bigger. At least the upped the Cocoa Krispies allotment!

Warning: boring review follows! ha ha: I was interested in buying these individual servings of cereal for my family and wondered if the cups, bowls or little boxes were cheapest per ounce. The cups hold more than the bowls and boxes(usually about twice as much based on cereal type). I mean we would have eaten 2 bowls if it was really cheaper that way.

I went to the kelloggs site to compare how much cereal was in the cups versus how much in the individual bowls or the little boxes. The bowls, cups and boxes all seem to end up costing fractions of pennies of one another ounce per ounce. I didn't add up all the kinds per variey pack and see which grand total costed pennies more or less based on ounce (I am not THAT frugal), but picked corn pops and frosted flakes to compare. The prices for all the kinds are very comparable, so if your wondering which type to buy, it doesn't really add up to much difference. I do check these things because sometimes the big "value" sizes are actually more expensive per ounce/gram than the little sizes. Those marketing people are tricky!

Therefore, if you want to have more little bowls or you pick the cups (that have more in each), you can make your choice and know you won't be spending way more either way. I skipped choosing the boxes because I liked the convenience of the bowls, but honestly the carboard boxes are probably better for the planet (but anyway, I will save some energy, water, and soap by not washing bowls!) Now all they need to do is sell a cute little dispenser for my counter and I will never go back to boxes!

Paleo People Granola

The product is good, but it's too expensive. I won't buy again only because of the cost. The quantity needs to be larger. There is a competitor who makes the same product in larger bags at about the same price. I was complaining THEY were too expensive, but this brand is even more expensive. If money is no problem for you, then buy the product. But if you are on a budget, I would suggest making your own.

the intoxicating smell when you first open the back is cacao and coffee. this is the most amazing tasting, smelling and looking gf/oat free granola out there. Get all the flavors, you won't be disappointed.

These guys make great alternative granolas -banana, apple, cocoa, and cappucino. Be aware that that last one contains large pieces of coffee beans, so it's not for everybody, but I sometimes appreciate that option in the afternoon at work. Anyways, these are a tasty, filling alternative to the junk we often reach for when hungry. Highly recommend!
