Traditional Irish Breakfast

My husband is an expat from the UK, and had been missing the traditional "fry-up" he could get for breakfast there. I ordered this as a surprise for him. When he tucked into his fry up, he raved about the "proper bacon" and the "proper sausage" just like he would have gotten for himself back home.

Everything was well packed, and the order arrived promptly, with a little brochure about Irish food products and info on how to cook a fry up, for those who need some help.

I am sure we'll be ordering this again, to combat future bouts of homesickness.

I get this and a whole bunch of other food items for my husband every year at Christmas time from foodirelanda huge order of food and it always arrives in perfect condition and nicely packedit's always a nice treat and like the other reviewer, my husband is from Ireland and he really appreciates all of his favorite breakfast items especially during the holidays! Most especially the puddings and the rashers which we can not find in our local store. My daughter visited Ireland a couple of years ago. She loved everything about the country, including the food. I ordered this in November for her as a Christmas gift, not thinking that the items would all be fresh in order to be the best. My fault for not looking closer. I've bought Hickory Farms for years and their stuff is processed to last forever...fresh is better, but when you spend this much for one meal you should be aware that it is not something you can save fresh for a special occasion.

They might want to put a line in the description letting people know the shelf life is not that long. It has to be eaten within a short period after you get it or frozen. Don't order too far in advance for a gift.

Klein's Naturals Apple Rings, (Pack of 6)

I love these apple rings. They are tender and have good flavor. Importantly, they have no added sugar or other sweeteners. There is a problem with the packaging as others have mentioned but since Klein's Naturals have thus far beat all other dried fruits I have tried, I just put up with the packaging issues. The problem is really with the box they stick the tubs into. The outer box is too narrow and pushes the containers together at the rims which leads to the lids popping open and seals separating from the tubs during shipping. However, like I said I haven't found anything better or anything as reasonably priced so I don't worry about it. The outer shrink wrap has held up on my other orders so I just reseal the lids when I remove the tubs from the weird box. The dried cherries, apricots, cashews and blueberries are excellent too. I wasn't too fond of the peaches because they were a little tough and tart for my taste. I stash bags of these snacks in my backpack to handle untimely hunger pangs on campus without resorting to crappy convenience foods.

These apple rings tasted pretty good but the packaging was not up to par. This product is packed in plastic containers with a weak plastic seal under the green cover. The six tubs are placed tightly in an open top box and then plastic wrapped. Due to the tight packaging and normal shipping movement all of the containers had their air tight plastic seal broken (no product left the containers).

O.K., they "LOOK" good. Their texture is spongy & just really weird. Could not eat them raw, as they tasted terrible and did not resemble any apple I'd ever eaten. (Grew Up in Michigan) I was totally disappointed, until my husband baked a pie with them. Their texture changed & the flavor did resemble apples, but I'll never order this brand again. Also, the lids were secured with the green shrink wrap, but once opened, the lids did not fit the containers! I should have trusted the previous terrible reviews. But, they "LOOKED" good.

Do not make the mistake of ordering any other type of tea. This is by far the best tea on this earth. It will blow away any other tea brand that you could buy in the supermarket. My wife and I are from the Northeast, and are lucky to live with a high population of Irish tea drinkers, so our supermarket stocks this product. We can purchase Barry's when we need it. If, on occasion, they are out of stock I will order this product on line. If you are not fortunate enough to have a store close by, do not hesitate to purchase this product. I love Irish Breakfast blend teas. For me, the stronger the better. I don't take my tea with with anything, no sugar or milk for me. Black teas are my coffee, and an Irish Breakfast is my morning cup of Folgers. With that said, this blend is alright. I bought quite a few boxes of it and have been drinking them every day for about a month now. I drink a LOT of tea, probably around 10-14 mugs/glasses a day. This tea I can only take about one glass of before I'm ready for something else. It's just not as good as a few others I have had. My favorite being Harney & Sons Fine Teas Irish Breakfast. Not too sure what the major difference is in this blend over all the others I've enjoyed, but there definitively is one. Not planning on buying any more of this kind after I've gone through the rest of the boxes.

Bob's Red Mill Buckwheat Hot Cereal

Bob's Red Mill products have all proved excellent. This Buckwheat Hot Cereal is no exception. It is tasty and easy to prepare. I particularly like it with raisins and a dash of black strap molasses. It goes well with any fruit and milk or yogurt. I wish it was more available on local shelves.

Exactly as described, however it took almost two and half weeks for it to arrive. Items have never taken that long when ordering straight through the site. Their product is very good quality and I'll be purchasing through them again.

Popchips Tortilla Chips Nacho Cheese -- 3.5 oz

Any chip claiming to be cheese-flavored has Doritos to compete with, since I've always been a Dorito addict. Having tried Popchips' take on Nacho Cheese, I must say that I'm very impressed. I had never had Popchips before, and honestly care more about taste than whatever natural spin they put on their ingredients. I really enjoyed the taste and texture and they're different enough from Doritos that they truly feel like a different, quality food, and not a poor imitation. And it's great that they're healthier too.

Finally, there are chips that taste great and have only natural ingredients. These Popchips are really good. The taste is great lightly-spiced corn. The texture is soft, almost puffy. They come in a variety of flavors and different-size packages including one ounce and three and a half ounces. I especially like the nacho cheese flavor. What do you call cheese that does not belong to you?

These chips do not contain artificial flavors, artificial colors, trans fat, or a lot of sugar, and are not greasy. The total sugar count is only one gram for each ounce, twenty-eight grams. I like them for guacamole dipping, with salsa, or in the one-ounce package as a snack with lunch. The only downside is that they can become addictive.
