Enjoy Life Double Chocolate Crunch Granola, 12-Ounce (Pack of 3)

Enjoy Life Double Chocolate Crunch Granola, 12-OunceIt is hard to find cereals when you have food allergies. I can't have dairy, soy, gluten, or nuts, and the options available were usually very bland and very low in fiber and other nutritional value. This granola, however, is both scrumptious and nutritious. There is flax so it's high in fiber and other nutrients, and the chocolate bits are very tasty. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that it has a slightly odd, almost chemical smell/taste at first. I don't know if I got used to it or if the smell dissipated, but after the first few bites I didn't mind it at all (and I have since finished the whole package). And as anyone with a food allergy knows, there's no perfect product out there.

If you are GF/DF, you know how hard it is to find tasty treats for your family. This one scored big at my house. My kids would eat it daily, if I would let them. It tastes great in granola and yogurt as well.

My daughter has Celiac Disease and this cereal is one of her favorites. Can't say I've personally tried it, but she loves it. It's not an easy find in the general store but Amazon offers it at a good price. Thanks!

This is the best chocolate granola I've ever had! I appreciate that it's not very high in fat. I only wish it was made without cane sugar.

My son eats them because he has to (food allergies). I eat them because they are delicious. All of Enjoy Life products taste great.

ExtendBar, Chocolate Delight, 1.41-Ounce Bars (Pack of 15)

ExtendBar, Chocolate Delight, 1.41-Ounce BarsGoing on Weight Watchers has its challenges. I have lost about 40 lbs to date and it has been good but I find that many of the products recommended by them have too much sugar. For example, everyone suggested Fiber One Bars as a snack because they are low in points. I noticed though that they spiked my blood sugar and stalled my weight loss. I switched to Extend Bars and boy, what a difference! I eat one of these every day, some times two. I really like them before bed or in the morning to help stabilize my blood sugar (I am hypoglycemic, pre-diabetic). I never have trouble eating breakfast now, these with a glass of skim milk or coffee and milk and a piece of fruit and I am good to go until lunch.

What is the difference between Extend Bars and the rest on the market? First, they are only a 150 calories with only 3 grams of fat but 11 grams of protein per bar. They also have 5 grams of fiber, just enough to help digestion, without causing stomach discomfort. (Something I can not say about some of the others on the market!)

I can not find another bar on the market to match those protein and fiber stats for the little calories and fat exchange. Also, the glycemic index is low because this bar contains a special slow digesting corn starch created from a corn grain that is different than the normal variety. It does not allow the blood sugar to spike, which can stall weight loss. This is the number one selling point for me, high protein and low glycemic...

Finally because I really believe we eat WAY too many processed carbs in our diet, this satisfied me in another area, it has a low net carb ratio, and does it WITHOUT the use of high levels of sugar alcohol. There are only 4 grams of sugar alcohol per bar, that is completely different than any other low carb bar on the market.

I really like the Chocolate and Peanut Butter, but not too wild about the berry and apple ones though. These taste exactly like the South Beach Cereal Bars, just less sweet. Give them a chance, they are not going to be as sweet as other things on the market...but they are great with coffee or milk...helps them not be too dry. Be sure to drink plenty of water as will any high fiber bar.

These were recommended in the class I took when 1st Dxed with diabetes. They work well whenever you don't want to eat more (dieting), or when you won't eat for hours; that includes overnight to help avoid high sugar levels when you wake. In fact, they're very good at helping me get a full night's sleep, uninterrupted by waking up to eat a snack.

My 9-year-old daughter has Type 1 diabetes and we could not find a bedtime snack that stabilized her overnight blood sugar until her diabetes educator recommended the Extend Bar. It REALLY does what it claims to do stops blood sugar from going too low overnight. Now my daughter does not have to eat a glucose tablet in the middle of the night to keep from going too low. Her morning headaches and shakiness are gone! If her bedtime blood sugar is 120, her fasting blood sugar is usually around 100. The bars do not cause a sharp spike in blood sugar, just as advertized. Although they don't taste like real granola bars (not as sweet or moist), all the peanut and chocolate varieties are tasty enough to satisfy a picky 9-year-old. Thank you, Extend Bar!

UPDATE 12/2/2010:

We tried all varieties of Extend Bar except the Mixed Berry. The "Delight" varieties work the best at stabilizing the blood sugar of a Type 1 diabetic, since they contain only 20-21 carbs, no sugar, and 4-6 grams of sugar alcohol:

Chocolate Delight

Chocolate Peanut Delight

Peanut Delight

The "Crunch" varieties contain 30 carbs, 10 grams sugar (!), and 5 grams of sugar alcohol and they caused my diabetic daughter's blood sugar to spike overnight. I don't understand why the manufacturer included so much sugar! These are not a good choice for a Type 1 diabetic, although they might work for a mild Type II diabetic who still manufactures insulin:

Chocolate Crunch

Peanut Butter Crunch

No one liked the taste of the Apple Cinnamon variety.

I'm a group exercise instructor who suffers from frequent and severe low blood sugar. I've been through all sorts of different bars and these are hands down THE BEST. They taste great, have 6g of dietary fiber and 11g of protein, low in fat....chocolate tastes exactly like a Crunch bar.

I noticed a difference in my blood sugar stability the first morning I had one. I usually can't go without eating something for more than an hour and a half, but these carried me about 3 hours before I realized I needed to eat again. That says a LOT! I'm not even going to try the 9 hour claim it makes, but that's just me.

LOVE THEM and I'll cry if they ever discontinue them!!

Stoneridge Orchards Whole Dried Raspberries, 16-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 2)

Stoneridge Orchards Whole Dried Raspberries, 16-Ounce PouchesOh my good god. These are quite possibly *the* most delicious things I have ever eaten.

In my life.

I came across these raspberries last year at a Costco here in SoCal, and then to my dismay they recently stopped carrying them. I've since been searching EVERYWHERE, and I am THRILLED to finally find them here!

No other brand of dried fruit can compare. Their blueberries and cherries are also excellent (and I usually don't care for either).

Highly highly HIGHLY recommended!!

Was disappointed with the amount of added sugar in this product. Not a viable replacement for the frozen raspberries we currently enjoy. If you are looking for something sweeter than plain ol' raspberries that do not require refrigeration, then these might be exactly what you are looking for.

I bought this thinking it was going to be a good healthy snack of raspberries. I was surely mistaken. The raspberries are coated with sugar, and other syrupy stuff and it tastes like you are eating gummy bears! GROSS!

i LOVE these raspberries. absolutely delicious and addictive. thing is...whole dried and organic don't make up for the fact that they add sugar -and calories -to something that really doesn't need it. at the very least, can't you please cut the sugar in half? then you'd have a customer for life.

Cascadian Farm Granola Cereal

Cascadian Farm Organic Fruitful O's Cereal, 11-Ounce BoxesI have bought this product for the last 18 months because it had no sugar and it was great for my toddler. Well what a shock I had when the latest box I purchased said it now contains SUGAR too!! The only organic cereal now out on the market with no added sugar or evaporated cane juice is Barbara's Organic Cereal o's. Make a statement and do not buy this again!! Very disappointed with Cascadian Farm...why ruin a perfectly good no-sugar cereal???

In the past few weeks this General Mills product was reformulated with 3 time the sugar. This change was made without ANY changes to the packaging outside of the nutritional label. This product went from a mainstay for us and our toddler to something we will no longer be buying.

they should probably list this as a separate product from the older 3-gram of sugar formulation, so that this product can have the good ratings it deserves. only 1 gram of sugar and tastes great! i actually prefer the crunchiness of this cereal to cheerios, and it's organic. yum!

The Kashi granola that I wanted was not available, so I went with this oneI am very happy with it! Great taste, good price, great nutrition numbers...a winner!

This is a very good cereal (hence the five-star rating), but twice I received boxes from Amazon either too close to or past the "best by" date stamped on the top flap. When I received a pack of six boxes three weeks PAST the "best by" date, I complained to Amazon. A rep quickly responded with an e-mailed apology and said Amazon would credit my credit card for the purchase price. (Foodstuffs cannot be returned for health reasons, of course.) I realize the "best by" date is not an expiration, but it takes me weeks to consume 6 boxes of cereal, so I want the freshest product possible.

Raw Organic Lydia's Grainless Apple Cereal-1 lbs.

Raw Organic Lydia's Grainless Apple Cereal-1 lbs.I was really missing cereal after going grainless. Since this cereal is full of nuts and seeds it is a bit high in calories, so I wouldn't recommend pouring yourself a huge bowl of the stuff. I have a quarter cup of this cereal drenched in unsweetened almond milk with a light drizzle of agave nectar (maybe a teaspoon). Makes for a really yummy and lite breakfast or snack. Just know that even though it says "cereal" in the title doesn't mean it tastes like frosted flakes.

I am grain free and I love this cereal. It tastes good, doesnt have any sugar or agave syrup in it. Its perfect for mornings on the go. I think it tastes awesome.

I really like this and my son (13) does as well. It is healthy and tastes good. I thought it was too pricey at first (10 dollars), but a bag really does go farther than you think. It is high calorie food, so you don't need that much and the energy you get from it last a long time because it is loaded with good fats. I am thankful it is not loaded with a bunch of sweeteners. It taste good naturally. It is hard to find natural foods of this nature that aren't drowned in agave. Overall it is a great product.

I bought this as a gift for someone. It didn't appear very appetizing to me, but she was excited to receive it. I haven't heard anything from her about how it tasted, however.

Kashi TLC Crunchy Granola Bar, Honey Toasted 7 Grain, 8.4-Ounce Box (Pack of 12)

Kashi TLC Crunchy Granola Bar, Honey Toasted 7 Grain, 8.4-Ounce BoxCrunchy is the key word here.

I purchased these snack bars because they don't contain the usual bugaboos: high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, artificial sweeteners, etc. However, they're mighty hard to chew. And that's *probably* a good thing.

I'm a hardcore fan of Quaker Oats granola bars, because they're a quick snack and they're heavy-laden with sugar, but they also have the HFCS (bad, bad) and hydrogenated oils (bad, bad, BAD). However, they are easy to chew (probably because of the nice, soft plastics they contain). I am striving to slowly back away from the QO granola bars because of their unhealthy and lengthy ingredient list.

The Kashi brand snacks are agreeable to the palate and they do have enough sugar for my personal tastes, but I have a couple crowns and I wonder if my over-priced prosthetic teeth can survive this healthy eating experience.

That being said, these are the snacks of choice for long car trips. For one, I'll never pig out on them and two, they're good for the tummy. They provide a little energy boost and they're high octane fuel for this four-layer bio-suit we call a human body.

I'm working my way through the different flavors. My favorites are the pumpkin spice and peanut butter, yet honestly, I can't discern an enormous difference between these three (pumpkin, PB and honey toasted).

these are awesome little crunchy bars that taste just like the nature valley "oat and honey" ones, but with much better nutritionals and ingredients. a great, filling, slightly sweet snack!

Great breakfast bars-they keep me full until lunch.

It is hard to believe that these are good for you-they taste like graham crackers! I love them.

The price is terrible though-You can actually buy 12 boxes on for cheaper! 12 boxes is about $ bucks on their site. Amazon usually has the better deals but not this time.
