Bob's Red Mill Organic Scottish Oatmeal, 20-Ounce Bags (Pack of 4)

Bob's Red Mill Organic Scottish Oatmeal, 20-Ounce BagsThese are a great whole grain for healthy eating, and they taste great too. My wife likes them with butter and salt but I like 'em sweet with [whatever]. Usually just brown sugar but you could be use a more healthy sweetener or some berries. I find these oats more pleasing than "Irish steel-cut" styles where the whole oat is just cut in two. These oats are like blasted to bits with a bomb.. ok I think stone ground.. but I like to exaggerate that angry Scots blew them to bits. We subscribed to this product, we like it so well. Recommendations: Buy, Eat.

I don't cook my Scottish oatmeal but stir it into a bowl of unsweetened yogurt, agave syrup, chopped almonds and a spoonful of ground flax seed. It makes for a wonderfully healthy, high protein, high fiber breakfast which keeps me full for hours and hours and full of energy.

My father eats raw oatmeal daily (he's now 93 and still rides a stationary bike fast and steady for an hour a day!) and and I tend to not cook things either, especially oats or veggies. Raw is where it's at..as much as possible anyway. Cooking takes some of the vitamins and fiber out. Delicious and highly recommend!

This is delicious, classic Scottish-style porridge, but it took me a few tries to get it right. The microwave method simply doesn't work you end up with a layer of hardened oats and exploding liquid on top. What is best to do is to use a pan. Boil the water as the package directs (though unless you want it salty, I'd use only a dash of salt as opposed to 1/2 tsp.). When you add the porridge, add it into the simmering water bit by bit, whisking throughly during and after. Then simmer as normal with the lid on. This method solved all my problems with the porridge. It made it fluffy, light and truly edible. No more scraping burnt porridge off the bottom of the pan or rushing to break up gluey lumps. Now, I make a batch of this and simply heat it up with a little milk and cinnamon every morning.

This oatmeal has more flavor than any other oatmeal I've ever tried. It has a wonderful natural sweetness and a slightly chewy texture. It is full of fiber and really needs nothing added to enjoy it's simple "deliciousness"!

I highly recommend this product as well as Bob's Red Mill 5 Grain cereal. Outstanding products.

9/27/12 eta: I noticed some comments about it getting lumpy when cooking on the stove top. I do not have that issue. What I do is I bring the water to a boil. I have the cup measured ready to go. When the water boils, I turn it off and right away I use a whisk to briskly stir the oatmeal in the water. I make sure is well mixed in. Then I put on the lid and let it sit like that with the stove off. I use a stainless steel sauce pan and at around 15 minutes or so, its ready to go and smooth. I have no lumps.

One time I forgot the whisk and it did get lumpy. But never with the whisk.

I don't ever cook oatmeal in the microwave. It just explodes and makes a big mess. Same happens when I make the Rice and Shine. Might be just me though :)

I like to switch up between the scottish oatmeal and the steel cut. These cook faster, so I have been using them more often. I cook up the 4 servings and put the rest in small reusable containers with lids, and just heat them up the next 3 mornings. When I reheat, I just put on some frozen blueberries and heat it together. Then I add a touch of maple syrup. Filling and hearty breakfast.

I am subscribed to the shipments, great price for the 4 bags.

I am going to try making oatcakes with it soon :)

eta 10-7-11: Oatcakes

I found a very simple and old fashioned recipe online for making plain Oatcakes.

1 1/2 Cups Scottish Oatmeal

1/8 ts salt

1 TB butter(or lard) melted

1/4 ts baking soda

1/2 cup hot water

Preheat oven at 325.

Mix the dry ingredients then add the butter and water and knead. Its a very sticky type dough, so I leave it in a bowl at this point to mix it all up first. Then I dump it on my wooden chopping board and I use one of those dough scrapers to manipulate the dough into a sticky ball. Just use extra oatmeal if it gets too sticky. You want it moist enough though.

Then divide into 2 balls and roll them into 6-7 inch rounds. I use my hands a lot at this point just to flatten it down. 1/4 inch thick or so. I usually have to flatten out the edge a bit as it starts to dry out at this point and I want it smooth. Doesn't have to be exact.

Then I use my stainless steel dough scraper to make 4 quarters on each flat by pushing down with the thin edge. Makes a total of 8 pieces for this batch.

Then just bake the pieces for 30 minutes at 325.

What is so great about them is that they are not flavored so they are so versatile.

I like snacking on them with tea, or add a little healthy butter spread. You can use them to layer deli meats on them.

I have send them along with my hubby to work and all he did was add hot water and reconstituted them. Way better than the instant oatmeal.

I usually make 2 batches and keep them in a ziplock bag. They last for days that way. So I can add my oatmeal intake any time when I feel like it. Snacks during the day. They are filling and healthy.

We eat so many oatcakes now that I get a delivery every month at this point. :)

Red Palm Oil By Jungle Products - 14 Ounces

Red Palm Oil By Jungle Products - 14 OuncesI had a pain after mastitis and this oil greatly helped me after taking it for 3 months. Great quality! To respond to a previous post: 6 months old oil is not old and the hardness of it is natural (for somebody like you conventional markets add chemicals, so it is always stays fresh and never hardness). I warm it up in a bowl of hot water every morning, before taking a spoon of it. Great remedy. I will continue. Thanks for bringing this product to US market.

I found this product to be of excellent natural quality. Like natural coconut oil, it has a soft hardness at cool room temps. A few years back, I had the opportunity to get a few large jars. The shelf life is really good on this brand. Wonderful for cooking as well as a great conditioner for hair and skin. Caution..does stain.

The product was out of date. The "Best Buy" date was August 2012 and I purchased it in January 2013. The seller did have it noted, but I didn't see it when I purchased it. After I opened it I saw that the product was over 5 months past the best buy date.

I did not return the product because I opened it before I noticed the date. This product could have been packed years ago, and it was in a solid state and never turned to liquid after it hit room temperature. I bought the same item at Kings Supermarkets with a best buy date of June 2014 and the product was liquid at room temp and was less expensive. I think the seller should refund the money for this item. Threw the product out.

EnviroKidz Organic Peanut Butter Panda Puffs Cereal, 10.6-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

EnviroKidz Organic Peanut Butter Panda Puffs Cereal, 10.6-Ounce BoxesPanda bear puffs is really darn tasty. As far as sugary cereals go, this one is better than the others for you. Mom has Alzheimer's and does not like much of anything. She loves this cereal. Great buy too!

My son loves this cereal, especially with chocolate soymilk. This company also makes Koala Crisp Cereal, if we have that, my kids will mix the Panda Puffs with the Koala Crisp (which has a chocolate flavor) as they think it tastes like a Reese Cup. I like that there are only 7g of sugar per serving (much less than many kids cereals) and all the ingredients are organic. Once in milk this cereal will also stay crispy a little longer than Rice Crispies, but not much. If you have to make Rice Crispy treats for the school bake sale use these cereals instead for an extra yummy treat.

I used to buy these at our local supermarket but because not that many people buy them they have discontinued them. It was such a relief to find them here. You get 6 10 oz boxes of wonderful peanut-buttery goodness. The expiration date was waaay into the future and the cereal was crisp and fresh. And by being an Amazon Prime member I received them in 2 days. Way to go. Great buy.

Carnation Breakfast Essentials, Classic Chocolate Malt Powder, 10-Count Envelopes (Pack of 6)

Carnation Breakfast Essentials, Classic Chocolate Malt Powder, 10-Count EnvelopesThe name may have changed but still tastes the same. Although all the flavors are great Malt is my favorite and has been since the 80's! Problem is that my local stores stopped carrying the 10 count Malt packages and I had to buy the Assorted. With only 2 Malt envelopes I found myself rationing and still when I craved a malt I found I had run out already. I happened to stumble upon it here and found the price acceptable. Now I never run out! Once in awhile I'll have a desire for another flavor and that's where the assorted comes in handy but I am pleased I'm now fully stocked with malt. It really should be added to the subscribe and save program.

First, I have to say that I only spent about $28.00 for a pack of 6 vs. the $52.00 that's shown online now. I hope that the price goes down soon so that I can buy more since this flavor is not available at our local grocery stores. With that said, I will say that the malt flavor is my favorite and for one simple reason. It's the only flavor from Nestle Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks that contains no artificial flavors. To me, that's important since this is what I give my two kids for breakfast every morning. I used to buy them the regular chocolate flavor, but then noticed that it had artificial flavors, whereas this one did not. I guess to them, chocolate is chocolate because they did not complain or even notice when I switched and started buying this malt flavor.

I purchased this item for an easy breakfast everyday before I head out for work but ended up hating it after drinking 5 packs. The texture is a bit chalky for my taste and it doesn't mix well with milk which leaves clumps of powder in the drink.

Quaker Old Fashioned White Grits 1 lb 8 oz. container - 6 Unit Pack

Quaker Old Fashioned White Grits 1 lb 8 oz. container - 6 Unit PackOkay, fine, grits are (is?) not for everyone.

It takes time to cook them, including some pamper time. Stirring frequently is de rigeur.

When they're laid on the plate, next to eggs and a couple strips of bacon, or some sausage, and a nice Southern biscuit... oh, Gawd, take meh now!

These are good grits, and if you have no patience for this type of food, or no taste for it, pass on by.

If you like grits, it gets no better than this.

In fact, one may cook these grits, and toward the end of the cook cycle throw in some eggs.

Num.

When I read a customer review which said that QUICK GRITS were sent when OLD FASHIONED GRITS had been ordered I thought that the probability of such a mistake happening was so very low that it was safe to order the OLD FASHINED GRITS I wanted to cook and count on receiving them. Well! the probability of making the mistake referred to is not that low!!! QUICK GRITS is what I also received! It turned out to be a blessing because I returned the wrong order but have since located OLD FASHIONED GRITS at Wegmans for $1.87/24oz.box as opposed to what amounted to $5.00 for a similar box from Amazon!!!

This review is not just about Quaker Old Fashioned Grits, which I love, but more about the state of affairs in our local food markets. What the hell is wrong with these stores not carrying the things we've used forever. Having recently found it very hard to find any grocery store carrying Quaker Old Fashioned Grits I was moved to buy online. There are a number of items that grocery stores have taken off their shelves with no concern for us customers. I'm pissed. Need help to correct this problem.

Want Quaker Old Fashioned White Grits 1 lb 8 oz. container - 6 Unit Pack Discount?

Well, I noticed these disappeared off the shelves, gradually fewer and fewer stores seemed to have Quaker Old Fashioned White Grits. So, I did a Google search and it seems only Amazon has these at present and maybe somewhere else but for an exorbitant cost. I was very happy to find these on Amazon. There are some other types of grits online (Arrowhead?), but not this brand. Will have to try the other brand if and when Quaker is unavailable. These are great for breakfast. Perhaps there is a recipe to make the instant grits with the really, full, rich taste as the Old Fashioned. I hope Quaker decides to re-introduce this line. Once they're gone, they will be sorely missed. I wonder which brand The Waffle House uses? The other pancake chain seems to use instant and they just taste watery. So, I am thankful for Amazon having these available. I appreciate Quaker Old Fashioned White Grits, and will savor every spoonful, while they last. Also, delivery was fast and efficient.

Baking Goods Og1 Figs Turkish 28.00 LB

Baking Goods Og1 Figs Turkish 28.00 LBI am very happy and enjoying my 28 pounds of organic Turkish figs more than I ever imagined.
