BuyWell 100% Fair Trade, Organic Coffee Blends, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 3) GROUND

Our household only buys Fair Trade coffee, and as many will know it can be difficult to find much selection. I am SO happy to have found BuyWell! To start with, it's just great coffee there's a good range of milder to darker roasts, and so far every one I've tried (three different blends) has been fabulous. Add in the fact that it's Fair Trade AND Organic, and I'm even happier and to cap it off, the bags I have seen are stamped with the Green E (the company buys 100% certified renewable energy). I don't think I need to look any more we have found our coffee supplier!

I have to say, however, that I'm a little surprised at Amazon's prices I can get four different blends in my local supermarket (HEB, in Houston, TX) for $6.99 per 12oz bag I'm surprised Amazon can't beat this. I'd love to put this on my Subscribe and Save list but while the prices are so much better in-store I think I'll stick to buying it there. I'll quickly add, however, that this coffee is worth the Amazon price if you can't get it elsewhere! Give it a try you won't regret it.

UPDATE (May 11, 2013) I'm now having a much harder time getting this product in stores, so internet sources seem to be my best bet. Even now, when I'm paying a bit more than I was, this coffee is worth it :)

My fiance and I really enjoy BuyWell Coffee, this pack is great! The Screaming Monkey is my favorite with the bright flavor really gets me going in the morning! And the Blackbird makes a great espresso my fiance loves it! While I appreciate the coffee itself, I was under the assumption I was ordering the three types mentioned in the product description. Unfortunately what I got was 3 DECAF, all the same. Please put up a more accurate description if this is what customers will be receiving.

belVita Breakfast Biscuits, Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits, 8.8 oz

I am on the road a lot; my commute is 36 miles one way each day. In order to miss traffic I am on the road each day by 5:00 am; on the road and hungry. So days I'll eat a piece of fruit in the car, but that is never filling. Recently while cutting out coupons I ran across a ($.75 coupon) for BelVita Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits; they look intriguing so I decided to give them a try.

First Impressions

I like the "BelVita Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits," they are as advertised; light, yummy tasting and (somewhat) filling. I like to eat them with a small carton of milk and a perhaps a piece of fruit to make a complete meal. Of I sometime eat them as a mid-morning snack, something to hold me until lunch. I don't exaggerate when I state that you can actually see and taste the blueberries baked into each slim biscuit.

Since I started buying BelVita Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits I have discovered other flavors as well, including Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate (my favorite), Golden Oat, and Cinnamon Brown Sugar. The Blueberry and Chocolate remain my favorites however and always have one of the two flavors at the ready, either at home or at the office.

If you are looking for a low calorie, low fat, nutritious alternative to a McDonalds sausage biscuit, then the BelVita Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits should be given serious consideration. Light, and tasty, these breakfast biscuits are a clear winner.

I love these. They taste incredible, and since I'm not usually a breakfast person, these are my new go-to breakfast. They go great with coffee!

These are tasty and I am enjoying one with my morning coffee break while I write this, but reading the nutrition facts and the ingredients list on the package, I have to think that this is more of a tasty and somewhat healthy cookie than a substitute for breakfast. According to the package, a serving is four biscuits which adds up to 230 calories. Though that includes 4 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber, it also includes 13 grams of sugar and 8 grams of fat.

They are good, tasting like a nice butter cookie with a blueberry smell and a hint of blueberry flavor. Still, I think I'll be more likely to have one from time to time as a little treat with my morning coffee or after dinner than to substitute a package for breakfast. I'd more likely chose a low-fat fruit yogurt which would have more than twice the protein, less sugar and fat, and less calories.

Quaker Life Cinnamon Cereal

This is a good tasting cereal, probably on the sweet side (the second ingredient is sugar). For taste alone, I'd give it 5 stars but I am deducting a star from my overall rating for "unfortunate" ingredients like disodium phosphate, caramel color, yellow 6, BHT, yellow 5, red 40, and blue 1. I don't understand the need for all the "junk" ingredients and all the coloring.

As for delivery, my cereal arrived fine. There were no problems with shipping, delivery, or packaging. I received it on May 8, 2012 and the "Best Before" date was March 21, 2013.

For a healthier cereal, I like "Kashi Organic Cereal, Cinnamon Harvest" which is made from a small number of ingredients without all the questionable stuff. It's also not as sweet. I give that one 5 stars because it also tastes great (even though it's not as sweet) but the ingredients are healthier than Life.

If you have the munchies....you'll like these. Get them on sale....the only downside is I wish they held up better in milk...they go soggy fast...and they still taste great.

I have been eating this on toast, bagels and muffins and thought I was eating LEMON curd! Truly, I learned it was orange curd when asked to review it. Giving it 4 stars for that reason. It is really good. It is sweet AND citrus just not identifiable as to just which citrus.

I have mixed it into soft spreadable cream cheese and like it that way. . . very much. Also have combined it with a ginger jelly and am learning it is tasty with anything. It is creamy and spreads easily.

All in all, since I thought it was lemon curd I can give it only 4 stars but promise I will one day try that . . . hang on till then.

Raspberry Flower Honey - California

My husband and I traveled the US for several years and always enjoyed buying the local honey. After moving to Oklahoma to stay I wanted to give him a suprise. The packaging of this honey is why I bought it (and I wasn't disappointed! Klein's Naturals Dried Prunes, (Pack of 6)

This item arrived promptly exceeded my expectations. They are a little "drier" than some other brands, but I like them that way. If you want "stewed" prunes, you can boil these.

These prunes taste great. My children like them, but the flimsy plastic cups they are in crack easily and some of them had the plastic seal torn away already when we opened them. It's a pain because i have to transfer them to another container in order to store them well. The price was good, so i may continue buying them. i'm not sure.

After trying the prunes available in our local grocery store, I was very disappointed as they were very wet and not what I expected (no wonder they were not in a see through bag. When these arrived I quickly opened the first container (I could see the product inside)and enjoyed my first taste of the prunes that I remembered from long ago. I put 4 in the freezer and held two out for consumption over the following weeks. I am now removing the first from the freezer and when I get down to one or two left I will reorder.

FLAHAVAN'S Pinhead Oatmeal, 35.27-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6)

I eat a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast nearly every day. For me alone these 6 bags will last about a year. These are prepared differently than I am used to, in the US rolled oats are the typical variety.

For those not familiar, pinhead oats are the same as steel-cut oats, oats cut into small pieces rather than being crushed (rolled) in a mill and steamed. The result is that they take longer to cook; rolled oats take about 10 minutes to get mushy all the way through, but steel cut oats can take up to 30 minutes to get soft and will probably never be as mushy as rolled oats. This results in a different texture than rolled oats that a some people like. Also of note, is that steel-cut oats are denser than rolled oats so the ratio of water to oats is closer to 4:1 rather than the 2:1 for rolled.

All that being said, steel-cut oats have a lower Glycemic Index. Plus they seem to retain a bit more oat flavor than typical rolled oats. To help deal with the longer preparation time, I started making my oatmeal in batches for several days. I use small containers, about 1 cup (Rubbermaid 7J59 Easy Find Lid Square 1-1/4-Cup Food Storage Container), and eat one every day for breakfast.

Unlike McCann's, which has been processed here for the lucrative US market for quite a while now (I still have an old can saved from when it wasn't), all of Flahavan's products are actually imported from Eire. These oats are cut and so are a different texture from Scottish (and Macroom) pinhead oats, which are stone-ground. Flahavan's are more uniform in size and appearance and the mouthfeel is somewhat different as well--I personally have no preference. Differences from stone-ground aside, these are delicious oats with a sweet, robust aroma and chewy texture, even when cooked longer than called for in the cooking instructions.

If you've only had rolled oats, you owe it to yourself to give Flahavan's Pinhead Oatmeal a try. If the longer (20 minutes) cooking time is off-putting, try starting them off the night before. Using the instructions on the package and adjusting for the amount you want to make, bring the water to a boil, add the oats (no salt yet), and bring back to a boil, stirring. Turn off the heat, cover the pot, leave overnight, and then heat the next morning, adding a pinch of salt if you're so inclined (I dissolve it in a bit of water first). You might discover that your rolled oats seem a little tame by comparison! :)

I lived in Ireland for 10 years, and really enjoyed having pinhead (steel-cut) oatmeal for breakfast. The cost of such cereal in the U.S. is prohibitive, so I was glad to see it for sale on Amazon.com, and bought 12 bags! Still has a great taste, and the expiration date is well in the future.

Said it before, and I'll say it again! Flahavan's pinhead oats cook up very well and bring on that home cooked in the glen Scotland flavor to porridge. Great texture after an overnight in the crock pot. The directions are quite easy to follow although the simmer and stir frequently put the stirring in a milder more gentle tone that it should have. Stir quite a bit as the oats thicken or they will toast using this amount of water.

This is the best oatmeal I have ever had. This is steel cut oatmeal, yet tastes better than any other steel cut! After the water boils, bring it to simmer, that way it cooks better.
