Post Grape Nuts Flakes Cereal, 18-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 5)

Post Grape Nuts Flakes Cereal, 18-Ounce BoxesLove the cereal. Have to buy on line since it's been discontinued in the stores. Quick delivery, product just as promised. Don't like that it cost me twice the old price when I used to buy it in the stores. Supply and demand I guess. Just glad it's still available somewhere since it's my favorite cereal. Would like to know where the different sellers get their supply. Doesn't seem fair it's not available to the public anymore.

Bought this for my mom as a gag Xmas gift. She loves Grapenut Flakes, but for some reason Post is silly and they don't ship (the flakes) west. I live in Californiacan't find them at stores. My relatives as far as Colorado can't find them at stores anymore either. Hence my reason for buying them online. So as described, I received 5 18oz boxes of Grapenut Flakes cereal. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that even though the boxes are the same size as a typical 18oz box, they actually contained 25oz in each as stated on the package! The boxes were not 'half full' like so many products, and they were much heavier than an 18oz. So I got a little more than I expected. Shipped within a reasonable amount of time. Product is fresh and being rapidly consumed by family.

This is my ladies favorite cereal.

We had difficulty getting this locally----Amazon is our favorite source.

She likes this at night, not in the morning----

As a kid this was the cereal my grandmother always ate, but because it didn't have some crazy cartoon character on it I rejected it! Ha! When I was at our local grocery store looking for a healthier cereal for my husband, I found it again! I don't know how they do it, but the flakes are super light and crispy with whole-grain heartiness and a sweetness that tastes so naturally pleasant! Plus, if you leave it in milk or water for a while (or even put it in the microwave for a bit), you can recreate the most scrumptious version of "oatmeal" I've ever had! Plus it's great for topping with fruit or nuts. GREAT cereal!

Bulgarian Feta (8 ounce) by igourmet

Bulgarian Feta by igourmetMy wife and I are thorough "feta foodies". We've tried just about every feta available to US consumers and this is the absolute best we have found so far -smoother, creamier, and seasoned the best. Far better than Bristol Farms, Trader Joe's, or any other grocery store selection. This is the stuff whether you use it on salads, in scrambled eggs, or just as a table cheese. I think the difference may be that this feta doesn't seem to be brined which can oddly dry out, mush up, and give the cheese a completely different texture than this brand. Highly recommended!

ALO Enrich Aloe Plus Pomegranate and Cranberry Pomegranate Cranberry -- 16.9 fl oz

ALO Enrich Aloe Plus Pomegranate and Cranberry Pomegranate Cranberry -- 16.9 fl ozYou are actually only purchasing a single 16.9 fl oz drink... I learned this the hard way. I'd recommend purchasing this item from your local grocery store instead.

In my attempts to keep my gastro issues to a minimum I have been drinking aloe which is calming. I love this drink & it does soothe my normally grumbly stomach. I just wish I could get it on subscribe & save again.

This looks like such a health drink, but the third ingredient is sugar. Before Pomegranate or Cranberry juice, there's sugar. It's a highly sugared drink. Yes, it has aloe vera, but so would aloe soda pop and aloe vera french fries. I really wasn't expecting this to be a sugar drink. It looks like your typical "blend of lots of juices" sort of drink.

It tastes good because what you're really tasting is the sugar. I don't think you can honestly call this any kind of healthy drink, The chunks of aloe vera aren't so foreign to me it's a lot like the tapioca balls in bubble tea.

You are actually only purchasing a single 16.9 fl oz drink. I thought by the picture you were getting 12 or at lest 4 like the other products but I paid 18.50 for ONE! don't buy this one there are others that have a 4 pack that is around 15$ I thought I was getting 12 but not true. Don't buy from these guys.

I love drinks that have bits in it boba, lychee bits, coconut bits, jellies, basil seeds...you name it, I'll try it! The was the first drink I've tried with actual aloe vera pulp in it...the varieties I've tried before usually have aloe jelly in it. Aloe pulp was actually a nice change. It wasn't firm and broke apart easily. The drink itself is a little tart, veering more on the cranberry side than on the pomegranate side (even though the ingredients list list pomegranate first). I couldn't taste the aloe very clearly, although that's not necessarily a bad thing. The viscosity of the drink was like water, unlike many thick aloe drinks I liked this a lot because I don't really enjoy drinking jelled drinks.

With only 25mg of salt and 15g of sugar per serving (2 servings per bottle), it's a nice change from drinking those over sugared Gatorades. Recommended.

Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Teff, 24-Ounce Packages (Pack of 4)

Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Teff, 24-Ounce PackagesBuying 6 pounds of a grain you've never had can seem risky... what will you do with it all? But I took the risk and it paid off! Teff is great. I followed the porridge cooking instructions on the back, but made it savory instead of sweet. I let the tiny teff grains heat up/dry roast for a few minutes in the pot. I could hear them popping like crazy (sounds like electricity) and then I added water, organic chicken broth, ghee and black pepper. I let it cook longer than they say and then mixed a serving of it with chopped broccoli and chopped turkey, and then topped it with a drizzle of flax oil. My toddler said "yum, yum, yum" about 100 times. That's pretty cool.

We can now confidently add teff to our rotation of amaranth, quinoa, brown rice, millet, oatmeal, and spelt flakes.

We have a high protein, high fiber, vitamin packed winner!

More difficult than oatmeal or quinoa to cook for breakfast: the small grains must be shaken apart once added to the water, and more frequent stirring required to avoid a sticky gel-like mass on the bottom of the pan. These minor annoyances aside, teff has excellent flavor and nutritional benefits, including 20% of the RDA for Iron. Great with fruits and nuts for breakfast, or as a base for vegetables in a casserole.

Teff replaces oatmeal as a hot breakfast cereal. Teff's pretty unique, its a tiny seed. It doesn't get mushy when cooked, but does stick together. To cook it boil it in wateruse about 1/2C Teff to 2 1/2 C waterto serve two or one large guy. Add some salt too, say 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon and just boil until thick. Stir so it doesn't stick to the pan. Flavor is kind of nutty but mild and its really good. Its much higher in protein and complex carbs so you can feel the difference around noonstill with you. Its a definite must have for athletes and if you can afford it everyone else. You may also like grated orange peel, nutmeg, cinnamon or for us we add toasted anise seed as well for peak flavor. We serve it with milk and a pinch of sugar. Its excellent, if you prepare any dish like this you will probably find Teff is better than all of them. Take advantage of the shipping deal when you buy two boxes.

I purchased this whole grain teff on a special deal here on Amazon, without having tried it previously or having any idea if I'd like it, but so far I'm loving it.

I haven't tried the recipes on the back of the package yet for teff porridge or teff pudding (they look very tasty, but require longer stove-top cooking and more attention than I usually want to invest unless I've already tried the result and know for a fact that it's worth the time and trouble).

However, when I added a generous sprinkling of teff to a bowl of McCann's Quick & Easy steel-cut Irish oats before adding the boiling water and following the microwave directions on that package, the result was spectacularly good (much better than the oats alone, even when cooked with my usual cinnamon, dried fruits, and nuts).

And then I tried 'blooming' a half-cup of teff in about a cup of boiling water (I ended up simmering it in the microwave for a few minutes, since I was impatient) and stirring that into a standard pancake recipe (using a generic reduced-fat baking mix). The pancake batter looked thin and a little gloppy, but they cooked up beautifully and had a wonderful, nutty (but not heavy) taste. After I made the first few pancakes, I didn't even bother dropping frozen wild blueberries onto the pancake batter anymore, since the teff made the pancakes tasty all alone. The texture of the pancakes was light, but spongy, and they're just as good warmed up in the microwave a few days later.

One of these days I'll work up the nerve to try cooking the teff all alone, but in the meantime I'm adding it to other cooked or baked products at every opportunity, and I haven't been disappointed in the result yet.

_______________________

Significant changes Zinc Gluconate instead of Zinc Sulfate (Zinc Gluconate has longer shelf life and is not as readily absorbed as Zinc Sulfate), Evaporated Cane Juice is first in Carbohydrate Blend instead of Brown Rice Dextrins, no more Antioxidant Blend, Sodium Selenate is gone, more various "Gums", no more Soy Lecithin, Stevia is a sweetener now as well... Also there is now 1g of Saturated Fat where before there was 0g...

It still tasted fine to me, I put 4 stars instead of 5 because they took out the Antioxidant Blend :-(

_______________________

UPDATE May 1. 2012

I downgraded my review because of the fact they took out the Antioxidant Blend, yet still heavily advertise on their website and label that it is Antioxidant rich ... That's deceptive. There is only 50mg each of fruits and vegetables per drink. That's hardly enough to provide 10 servings worth of antioxidants, just so you know, 50 mg = 0.001763 oz

I was the biggest Orgain fan, purchasing many cases a month. They have recently changed the formula and the new taste is bad and very different. Also, they've removed the antioxidant complex. They also added a sweetener Stevia which I don't understand. Usually, sweeteners are added to make products taste better, not worse. I wish they'd wouldn't have messed with a great thing.

I've been searching since the days that Kashi stopped producing their meal replacement shake mix for something that tastes just as good and is just as good for you. I've tried both available flavors of Orgain and I find the chocolate to have no remnant of soy protein in its taste. The shake tastes great at room temp and amazing chilled. I appreciate that there's some remnants of veggies and fruit in the shake too.

Potential downsides:

It's not all oil, sugar, and protein....although its mostly that... So it's not exactly as good as sitting down and eating a sandwich. The shake is only made in pre-measured little boxes so there's no opportunity to save some money with a tub of a dry mix. The shakes are expensive too. The trade off is better ingredients, instead of unpronounceable and artificial junk found in say, Slimfast (although that too is mostly oil, sugar, and protein...just from worse ingredient sources). The shake is also not vegan if that's something you're looking for. There's currently only 2 flavors of the shake too, so if variety's your thing, this isn't a good shake to try out long term.

I still rate this 5 stars for the ingredients, the taste, and the fairly extensive nutrition content. I wish this had more veggies and fruit in it though...vs. 50 mg each of a fruit and veggie blend.

This tastes like real chocolate milk! I've tried Slim-Fast, Muscle Milk, and other protein shakes, but I can't stand anything that has sucralose, aspartame, or any other artificial sweetener they leave a nasty after-taste. Orgain doesn't have any of that artificial stuff and it tastes great.

I have been a longstanding and enthusiastic customer of Orgain for many years, subscribing to several cases per month. I was quite dismayed to realize that they changed the formulation. The change in taste was immediately obvious and it was NOT for the better. I compared the old with the new list of ingredients and there are a number of changes. I wish they hadn't messed with a good thing. I practically lived on Orgain before and now I can barely choke it down. It just doesn't taste good any more. Yuck!! I need to find an alternative!!

Gourmet Italian Biscotti - by Coffaro's Baking Company (Pack of 3)

Coffaro's Baking Company Hazelnut with Orange Zest Olive Oil Biscotti, 8-Ounce BoxesRarely does a biscotti ever have in reality all the goodies that the picture on the box promises.

Coffaro's Almond & Cherry Olive Oil Biscotti deliveries the detail.

Visit their website and discover that Coffaro is a family-run business, with only one product allowing them to do one thing, and to do it very very well: they make biscotti.

There's no stinginess the ingredients are top notch. The variety of almonds they use are fat, slightly rounded and a little bit small. Small is plentiful and small is good in this case; these aren't the big mild-flavored things that show up in your bridge mix. Instead, these almonds are so rich with the Amaretto flavor, that almond note of pure almond extraxt that you'd swear that you smell the almonds before you crunch them. They aren't broken bits of almonds either that's for lesser manufacturers. These are whole, fresh and delicious. the most striking thing is how many of them turn up in each package tremendously impressive in a world where other companies wave a single almond at the vat of cookie dough and call it good.

The cherries make for a tender chewy punctuation between all the crisp, wonderful biscotti and crunchy, flavorful almonds. The biscotti itself is slightly smoother than most, slightly denser than many of the crumbly bars offered up in premium coffee shops, yet the bite, the mouthfeel, all perfectly craggy, crunchy and satisfying.

The Coffaro's traditional recipe is easy on the sugar, which is another factor that lets the texture and the almonds' flavor shine through as the top stars. Do not fear the olive oil; this is clearly the second or third pressing elixir, containing all the healthy lipids, but none of the chlorophylls nor savory flavors of the extra-virgin type.

Can't wait for the next Subscribe-n-Save shipment of these terrific bites of Italian tradition already gave a box away to friends and they want more too.

If I could submit a photo, you could see what I mean. The package shows a biscotti chock full of pistachios, when in actuality I am lucky to find one in each cookie. Not sure if all of their assortments are the same, but I was disappointed in this one. Good taste, goes great with a cup of hot tea. Needs more of what is pictured on the box.

I love biscotti and I always keep an eye out for new bicotti to try. I found this on Amazon while doing a search and have to admit that the packaging really caught my eye, and the ingredients (hazelnut, orange zest, and olive oil) intrigued me. My three boxes arrived yesterday and I couldn't make a cup of coffee fast enough to try these with.

They did not disappoint! In fact, they are divine. They have a delicate hazelnut flavor with a dash of exciting orange zest that aren't lost when dunked in coffee. They're also not too sweet, they're just right. They are the small-sized biscotti (a bit bigger than a man's thumb) and have a nice texture that is different from your typical super-hard crunchy biscotti (they have a smoothness that I'm guessing is the olive oil).

These are an indulgent treat that I'd feel proud to serve to friends with coffee or tea. I'm looking forward to trying their other flavors.

We ordered several different types after trying the Lemon Zest and Blueberry biscotti. While they have a softer texture than Nonni's brand biscotti, we found them to be delicious, either alone or dipped in coffee. We were delightfully surprised that the Olive oil did not override the hazelnut and orange flavors.

Freedom Foods Tropico's, 285-Gram Boxes (Pack of 5)

Freedom Foods Tropico's, 285-Gram Boxesread about these on the celiac diva's facebook page. decided to give them a try and WOW! no gluten, casein, soy and most importantly .... they taste FANTASTIC! very appealing colors (all natural) so the kids will love them too. Highly recommend everyone try these!

The product itself was fine. I bought it for my son's preschool, as he's very sensitive to food dyes and they were planning to do a "froot loop" project. I figured the 5 boxes would be a good donation to the school to use in place of artificially dyed cereal rings with all of their classes. While the rings were a little smaller than the typical "froot loop" and the colors were not quite as bright as shown on the box, they were still colorful and the teachers tell me the kids thought they tasted good, too.

Unfortunately, as with many other reviewers' experiences, I received only one box instead of the five that are stated as coming in the order. I contacted Amazon and they quickly sent me five new boxes at no charge, but it seems like this is an ongoing problem that certainly needs to be addressed. While Amazon gets a thumbs-up for their quick fix and good customer service, I shouldn't have had to request a new order in the first place.

I purchased a case of Tropico's after seeing them advertised on a gluten free blog. I was skeptical but once I received them (very quickly I might add) I was not disappointed. The texture is virtually identical to the gluten-fruit loop version. They have a nice sugar coating and are very colorful. The flavors are all natural so its obviously NOT identical to the traditional version's flavors but you can avoid all of the chemicals and colorings so its really a bonus. My kids love these so much, for breakfast and to use in craft projects. Great job Freedom Foods!

This cereal tastes great. The colors aren't quite as bold as what is shown on the box, but it uses natural food colorings, so I could really care less. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars only cause it's so expensive and the box is a little bit smaller than a normal cereal box. If it were bigger or less expensive, I would have given it 5 stars. But otherwise it tastes great. Also, I ordered this and it's supposed to be 5 boxes of cereal in the order, I only received 1 box. I contacted Amazon and they actually overnighted me a whole new shipment of 5 boxes, that arrived on a Saturday morning. Great customer service! Thanks!
