Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Though the package calls these "sports chews", they're essentially really a candy--certainly not something you'd want to buy as a healthy snack for your child. That said, I think that, as an occasional treat, these are pretty great. It's hard to find candy that isn't chock full of artificial colors, flavors, and high fructose corn syrup. I know this because I'm a compulsive reader of labels, and also someone who's trying to eliminate all artificial ingredients and HFCS from her family's diet. Given that, I'm really happy to be able to add this organic product to the list of infrequent treats I'm willing to give to my children.

The texture of these is much like a gummy. Each shark-shaped chew is dusted with sugar, and comes in a variety of natural flavors. My seven-year-old told me they reminded her of fruit gems, and I think she hit the nail right on the head. They have that same kind of texture, chewy but not as rubbery as gummies can be. The flavors are very nice, and I was frankly a bit surprised that my daughter liked them as much as she did, given that she's been so programmed to gravitate toward the artificial products marketed to kids these days. It can be a challenge to find things with natural flavors that she enjoys, so the fact that she likes these really says a lot to me. I also like them. They're sweet, but not cloyingly so, and fun to chew. The flavors taste like actual fruit instead of like some scientific approximation of what fruit is supposed to taste like.

Though these aren't something I'd give my kids with wild abandon, I am pleased with them and would definitely give them every now and then to the kids as a treat. It's nice to have another item to add to my list of acceptable foods.

It is being marketed as a healthy treat but it is NOT. This is NOT a "sports chew" or healthy snack. It is glorified sugar sprinkled with sugar. The primary ingredient is evaporated cane juice...a type of sugar. This product contains 35 g of carbs and 0 fiber. That means all the carbs are coming from simple sugars. It is essentially a 140 calorie bag of vitamin C. Give your kid an orange or a a glass of orange juice instead. It has no other nutritional value except the added vitamin C which you can get from other sources. As a comparison, Welchs Fruit Snacks Twenty Four 2.25 Ounce Value Box Assortment has 130 calories per service, contains 100% daily value Vitamin C, 25% Vitamin A, 31 g of carbs and 1 g of protein. it doesn't matter if the sugar is "organic." Sugar is sugar and will have the same negative impact.

Nutritionally they just don't have anything better than typical gummy treats unless you are hardcore into organic ingredients. They taste ok, but so do just about any brand. Big whoop deal about the vitamin c-others have that additive too. Even in this bulk package of 12 you are going to pay over $1.10 per bag! Any piece of fruit is way better and will cost less. My kids thought they were like a combo of Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids (without the sour flavor). They both said they could have gone without the sugar coating and one of them only had a couple pieces then said he didn't want anymore. Neither of them have gone back to the cupboard for more since trying them for the first time at least 2 weeks ago!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My kids found the "Sharkies Kids Sports Chews" to be very tasty. They compare very favorably in taste and texture to other bite-sized fruit snacks.

That being said, I'm not sure what the point to their marketing is other than to confuse parents. Sure they have an organic component and they have added Vitamin C, no matter how small those components may be, but these snacks are LOADED with sugar. In fact they may have MORE sugar on/in them than your generic grocery store fruit snacks. I also haven't figured out the "Sports" part. As far as price, the list price of $18.00 is highway robbery and about 600X's the price of other name-brand fruit snacks let alone the generic brands that are available.

To me, this product is solely produced to take advantage of the growing snooty "buy healthy & organic" crowd out there who are willing and able to pay a higher price to get a product that they feel is better for them and their kids. Unfortunately this product seems to miss the target on all counts save taste and an overpriced taste at that.

Nature's Path Organic Optimum Slim Cereal -- 14 oz

I really like this cereal 9 grams of dietary fiber and 9 grams protein per serving so it keeps you full until lunch. Quick and easy just add some fruit and milk and enjoy. Very tasty too which is important for repeat business. I came over to amazon today to see if I could order it here at a better price.

Great cereal. Has all the good ingredients and what I like about it is that its not sugary or sweet and just perfect for morning breakfast.

I think this product it's of great quality but for the amount one gets it will probably be better to buy a pound in order to save some green. Znaturalfoods.com has excellent price for a pound of organic maqui berry.

It is smooth when added to milk and healthy and delicious!

Barbara's Bakery Puffins Cereal, Cinnamon, 10-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

Barbara's Bakery hyped the new packaging but neglected to mention that the weight went from 12oz per box to 10 oz per box. I use to purchase a 4 pack of the 12 oz old package for 15.57 and that works out to 32.4 cents per oz. the new price for a 6 pack of the 10 oz box works out to 39 cents per ounce. That's a 20% price hike in a period of low to no inflation. Thanks for the nice new package guys. I much prefer the old package at the old price and will be checking out other cereals with the intent of eliminating cinnamon puffins from my diet.

The cereal also tastes different not as good. I looked at the ingredients and noticed that in both the old and new product there is 150 mg of salt. However, in the old ingredient list cinnamon came before salt. In the new ingredient list it comes after salt. Thus, there is less cinnamon in the new cereal. You can really taste the difference. The old recipe was much tastier. Again, my hat is off to Barbara's Bakery. The price went up and the taste is not nearly as good. Great job guys.

January 20, 2011 Update: I have replaced cinnamon puffins with other cereals. Bring back the old taste which I loved so much and I'll buy again, even at the increased price.

I used to LOVE the cinnamon flavor Puffins. Unfortunately, they did indeed reduce the cinnamon flavor totally different while they changed/reduced the packaging. What a disappointment.

(#1 REVIEWER)Puffin cereals used to be one of my favorites. Cinnamon was my favorites among Puffin cereals.

The new Puffin Cinnamon is not an improvement. The size of each individual cereal was reduced. But it appears they reduced not only the size but the formula of the cereal itself. I don't like the flavor as much, it appears to be sweeter and has less cinnamon. The box size was reduced from 12 oz to 10 oz, thus becoming more expensive per oz.

I am attaching two photos: The first photo shows the new packaging highlighting the reduced size. The second photo show the ingredients and nutritional fact from the side of the box. Puffin calories are shown using a serving size of 2/3 of cup, which is a pretty small portion. The box has 9 of those servings. What I use as a serving is larger. For me each box has 4 servings. I noticed that cinnamon moved down on the ingredient list (when I compared it to the old box), which confirms my taste difference observation.

With the new packaging you get something less tasty for more money per oz. Barbara's Bakery please bring back the old cereal!

I've been eating Barbara's Cinnamon Puffins, and I agree they do not taste as good before they changed the package. Also, I wish they were using organic, non-GMO corn for the price of this cereal!!!

I used to buy these all the time. They tasted great, and I used them as snacks. The cinnamon taste wasn't overbearing, and it was great. It didn't have that overbearing corn taste either.

Then they changed. Why? Money grubbing is one of the ways I would explain it. Why?

1) They changed the size from 12 to 10 oz, like everyone else has done everywhere. (Notice that many major brand colas like coke and pepsi are changing to 1 liter to 1/4 smaller and raised the price. It is important to realize a major factor here. Even though the media and government do not report any inflation, that is because they haved changed the very DEFINITION of inflation. All one has to do is go to the store to see this and the gas station. Look at BASICS like Milk. If people believe there is no "inflation", they just don't buy food. Coffee anyone?

Yes I do not like it, but I see their reasons.

2) They reduced the flavor significantly. Less cinnamon taste, starting to taste more like a corn cereal rather then the original reason I purchased it.

So.... They reduced the amount you get, reduced the quality and primary ingredient you bought it for, and raised the price. That is inexcusable.

Unfortunately, other cereals are doing the same thing, so we have to be VERY careful, read the labels carefully, the cost per ounce, etc. The bottom line also, if the kids don't like it, the price is too high, and you have to buy it more frequently. it is now off my list. I recommend finding other alternatives.

Quaker Life Original Cereal

A good price and delivered quickly. However, the boxes have a "best if purchased by" date that is in April of 2013. So that's the catch. We probably won't consume that much cereal prior to the suggested date. So I learned the "catch" the hard way. When I buy the cereal in the store, the date is at least 6 months away. Nothing about that in the description, although technically I got what I paid for. But unless you intend on eating the cereal relatively quickly after purchase, beware.

Great cereal. Obviously this can be found in almost every grocery store, but I live in a very rural area, so get this at a great price shipped to my door is wonderful.

Kashi TLC Crackers

These crackers are great tasting. I recently ordered a case of tweleve to use at home. However, Amazon sent me a case of twelve which expire in one month. I buy things from Amazon to stock up. I don't think a month is enough time to eat twelve boxes of crackers. Amazon needs to rotate their products instead of selling items that are almost expired.

I used to love these crackers, but they have recently reformulated them. Now they're awful... like a Wheat Thin knockoff, but not even as good as Wheat Thins. Why do they mess with something that works?? I complained to the company, and was told, "As you might imagine, we conduct extensive consumer tests to determine consumer acceptance before introducing a food into the national market. Reformulated products are of special concern to us, so we use panels of regular product users across the country to ensure acceptability. Tests on this reformulated product showed that most consumers preferred the new product to the old. However, we realize that taste preferences do differ and can certainly understand your feelings."

Yeah, I am sure that Coca-Cola conducted extensive consumer tests of New Coke, too.

Look, you might like this cracker. But if you liked the previous formulation, don't expect anything at all similar. And if you don't like it, please complain to the company. Maybe they'll bring out a 7-grain "Classic" cracker. :-)

These crackers are simple in comparison to my favorite, the Honey Sesame variety. The 7 grains may overpower subtle toppings, but they work well with stronger cheeses, olives, and other toppings that hold their own. I usually eat these crackers plain as a snack along with something to drink, though they also work well for hors d'ouvres.

Be sure to have something to drink along with these slightly sweet, particularly crunchy crackers. The texture is rich with the variety of several grains, and the flavor is a delightful combination of the grains and a touch of honey. These are my favorite TLC crackers, but I switch out with the other varieties regularly.

Ever try the goldfish crackers? They taste as much like the box as they do cheese. The TLC Country Cheddar crackers are far superior.
