Gooseberry Jam

Gooseberry JamGooseberry Jam is the biggest disappointment of all food-stuffs I grew up with. I have yet to find anything remotely comparable to that "Granny" used to make or manufactured by the three main processed food companies back home.

This particular brand too fails to meet up. All the Gooseberry Jams manufactured in the UK too fall far short.

Last week I made the terrible mistake of purchasing three jars of Swedish Gooseberry Preserves from ikea ... yugh ... by far the worst.

The best available in the US of A is from one of the South African Speciality Food Stores within the US.

The search goes on ... sigh ...

If you love gooseberries, be prepared to be ordering this jam by the case. A wonderful, not too sweet jam, great on toast or toasted croissants. Wonderful flavor and consistency.....a spoon out of the jar is heaven.

Being from Czech Republic, I grew up on gooseberries, so I'm always hunting for good jams here in the States. This one is by far the best I've come across! Not too sweet, very fruity, yummy straight from the jar or on toast/waffles. I'm about to order a bunch more.

Gooseberry jam isn't easy to find. Although this is no way like my Granny used to make with the gooseberrys from her garden, we still enjoy this brand and special order it a couple jars at a time. Good with breakfast toast....yum.

I grew up eating gooseberry jam so i had high expectations and standards when i bought this jam online..It was packaged beautifully and arrived promptly, but i am afraid that while the taste is acceptable its not 5-star quality...I enjoy a sweet fruit spread, but this jam is very tart...I did not get any hint of sweetness at all unfortunately..it is, however, not bad, and has a good gooseberry taste to it...just not what i expected or desired...but, if you like your jam tart and tangy, this may well be a great match for your palate!!

Corazonas Oatmeal Squares, Cranberry Flax, 1.76-Ounce Bars (Pack of 12)

Corazonas Oatmeal Squares, Cranberry Flax, 1.76-Ounce BarsThe cranberries' tartness is a nice counterpoint to the bar's sweetness. These are much improved by warming them up: remove from wrapper, microwave for 10-15 seconds. Made with lots of good stuff and having lots of fiber and protein; they also contain plant sterols, which supposedly help lower cholesterol.

Picked up a mixed bag of 12 at Costco today-as they were only selling them for a limited time there. I sampled all 5 flavors and found that I enjoyed the banana and the cranberry the most. Much cheaper too! There were selling them for $7.49 for a box of 12. Almost wished I had picked up more now that I see the price here on Amazon. Hopefully they did well enough that they will become a staple at Costco.

this is great for taking to work or to eat in the car, but dont try to use it as a meal replacement at home unless you got really great will power! i am the last guy to give in to cravings, but the last time i tried it as a meal replacement i ended up eating 10 of them, and that 180 cal meal replacement turned into a 1800 cal meal... so from now on i only take one or two with me to work

I love Corazonas Oatmeal Squares and have been buying them for several months. My favorites are the Cranberry, the Chocolate Chip, and the Banana Walnut. Love to have one of them with coffee every morning with a smear of Natural peanut butter. Yum!

I like the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip flavors of these bars, but the Cranberry Flax one is a little too tart for my taste. My husband hates them and won't come near them. I love Corazona bars in general, but this flavor is just not that great.

Post Grape-Nuts Cereal

Post Grape-Nuts Cereal, 24-Ounce Boxescheck you Grapenut Box's.. If it says MORE PROTEIN and NOT 100% WHOLE GRAIN.. you now have junk in your cereal bowl

I have been eating Grapenuts for breakfast for longer than I can to recall... It was the ONE cereal I could always count on to be simple... no sugar added and whole grain..

NOT ANY MORE..... some IDIOT chg'd the ingredients.. it now has GMO -SOY... and malt and several other ingredients.. the calories went UP and it no longer called it self .. 100% GRAIN..

due to putting the garbage GMO SOY into it.. it now cannot be sold in EUROPE which bans GMO products...

Oh and to make it even worse... this NEW FORMULA.. never gets softened.. and you can taste the soy in the product.

I have been a regular subscriber to this product NOT ANY MORE.

off to find another product that doesn't have junk SOY in it.!!!!

SO, so, so Disappointed in POST Cereal

They now lost this person as a customer.

They changed the classic recipe for grape-nuts and now they've got unhealthy soy protein isolate instead of whole grain--disgusting! I'm not going to buy these any more

Buy Post Grape-Nuts Cereal Now

After many years of loyally eating Grape Nuts, I am abandoning it b/c Post changed the ingredients to add more protein to the product in the form of highly processed soy. A recent article in the WSJ points out that manufacturers are adding protein b/c consumers ignorantly believe the more protein, the better, regardless of the form of the protein. Of course, these are the same consumers who jump on every little fad/buzzword of the day low fat, low carb, paleo, gluten-free, etc. without understanding the basics of nutrition and health an easy sell for manufacturers to add "Protein" on the box and get consumers to react positively (they think protein is a good thing see article below)

In a nutshell, Post did it to sell more of what is essentially a niche cereal (In case you haven't done your research, Post, lots of people simply don't like Grape Nuts and the ones who buy it are probably loyalists who are put off by the newly added soy).

Here's the WSJ article about protein.

Will not buy again unless Post brings back the real original version (whole grain wheat flour, malted barley flour, salt, dried yeast)!!

One of the attractions of Grapenuts was that it was just a basic cereal, with few added ingredients. Why can't they leave well enough alone? Sad. I won't eat it anymore.

I've been eating Post Grape-nuts for decades because it's one of the few cold cereals I can find that doesn't have sugar or oats or many additives, and I like it. This is all past tense now since I bought 2 boxes from a local store a few days ago and noticed the picture on the box was different. That prompted me to check the ingredients to be sure they hadn't changed as I'm allergic to oats and some other things and don't like sugar in my cereal. I had no idea what Isolated soy protein was and it really didn't sound dangerous, but I looked it up on the internet and it certainly isn't anything I want to be eating! I went to the Post web-site and was able to send them an email complaining about the new addition and the fact that there was nothing on the front of the box to indicate that it had new additives, in fact, they had added the word, "Original" to the box front. I did receive a fairly prompt reply saying that my comment would be forwarded to their Marketing Department. Today I noticed that Amazon.com has Grape-nuts and was showing the old box so I thought perhaps they still had an inventory without the toxic additive, but after searching their webpage carefully I found the ingredients with, "soy" as the last one. It didn't say Isolated Soy Protein, but I'm not taking any chances. I don't blame Amazon at all, and I'm gratified to see all the customer reviews also objecting to this new addition. So I want to thank Amazon.com for showing the list of ingredients on their website and giving us all an opportunity to share our discovery, disappointment and concerns about this change to a long-time favorite cereal. And please ignore the 1-star rating; couldn't get this review accepted without selecting a star.Post Grape-Nuts Cereal, 24-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)

Arrowhead Mills Organic Hot Cereal, Rice & Shine, 24 Ounce Box

Arrowhead Mills Organic Hot Cereal, Rice & Shine, 24 Ounce BoxWith the new scare on arsenic levels in rice, I did several hours of research and found that different parts of the US that grow rice had different levels of arsenic in the soil which the rice then soaked up. I am feeding my 6 month old son brown rice cereal and am very concerned about the arsenic levels I read about. I bought this brand and after learning the rice they use is grown in Texas, and that Texas is listed as one of the higher arsenic levels, I am returning this product and purchasing Bobs Red Mill organic Brown rice farina. This rice is grown in California which is listed as the least arsenic levels (almost undetectible). I tried Quinoa and my son didn't like it. He's a little too young for oatmeal but that will be our next adventure. Just thought you would all like to know this information. Good health to everyone

Finding a truly wonderful product when you are gluten intolerant is often very difficult. Rice and Shine cereal is just that, however. It is the best hot cereal that I have tried. It has a wonderful texture and flavor.

This is a delicious and very affordable gluten free hot cereal. After eating wheat based cereals, breads and pasta all of my long life, adjusting to a gluten free diet has not been easy. This is one of the gluten free products that has helped with the transition. I add varying combinations of cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, nuts, to this cereal and create new flavors. Highly recommended.

With our children having been recently diagnosed with Celiac disease (Gluten intollerance), this product has been a great discovery as an excellent gluten free hot breakfast cereal. Our middle son requests "Rice & Shine" pretty much every morning, and preparation/microwave cook time is approximately 10 minutes which helps for those crazy school day mornings. We are very happy to have found this product!

I bought this because all of the reviews were so good, but I just don't like it. It's slightly bitter and the texture is unpleasant to me. It's unusual for me not to like something-I'm not really picky about much.I really love Bob's Red Mill "Mighty Tasty". I also love Cream of Rice. I hope I can give it away to someone who will use it up, because I now have 4 boxes and just can't eat it. I fixed it both in the microwave and on the stove. I doctored it up with butter, pecans and maple syrup and still didn't like it. Then I tried it with butter and cheddar cheese-no luck. Maybe I'll try using milk instead of water.Does anyone have any suggestions?

Quaker Popped Rice Snacks Variety Pack (Caramel Corn - Apple Cinnamon - Chocolate) 8 Singles Bags (

Quaker Popped Rice Snacks Variety Pack 8 Singles BagsI never thought that a "rice cake snack" could be tasty but these have proved to be very tasty. who would have thought.

I am a potato chip fan. I really want to eat healthier, but I must have my junk. Rice cakes never fit the bill because they tasted like bird cage paper. These I like. I am particularly fond of the chocolate and wish they made a bag with more of these in them. The caramel corn and apple cinnamon are tasty too. They are great for lunches and snacks as they come in 100 calorie packets 23g carbs, 8g sugar, 270 mg sodium. They are made with milk and soy. Artificially sweetened with sucralose plus high fructose corn syrup.

The items do not have gluten per se. The ingredients do not contain gluten, but the product is not tested so it doesn't make the claim. There may be some impurities in the bag from coming in contact with the puffed wheat equipment. People with mild gluten allergies might see this as a welcomed snack.

Also available at Walmart next to the rice cakes and dried fruit.

Earth's Best Organic Whole Grain, Rice Cereal with Apples, 8 Ounce Box

Earth's Best Organic Whole Grain, Rice Cereal with Apples, 8 Ounce Boxi am currently feeding my baby Earth's Best veggies starter and since it is a bit on the thin side i use this rice cereal to help thicken the mixture. i microwave the veggies in a bowl for 20 sec then i mix in the rice cereal until i have the desired consistency for feeding. if i accidentally added too much, i just add warm milk. the cereal dissolves/mixes easily with a spoon. it works well and baby loves it! this pack of 6 with "prime" is also a great deal.

I dilute the cereal just with plain water and it still tastes pretty good. My baby loves it.I highly recommend it: good product, good price.

Just add water and you are good. I have also added Mango Pulp which my daughter seemed to enjoy much more. I would suggest adding Mango Pulp or something similar instead of just water.
