J&D's Baconnaise Bacon Flavored Spread, Regular, 15-Ounce Jars (Pack of 3)

Who would have thought? This is great stuff! Vegetarian mayo that tastes like bacon. It works well on burgers, sandwiches, in salads (egg salad, etc), or just by itself as a dip. My only complaints are the jar is small at 12 ounces, and even though the sodium content is relatively low, it tastes on the saltier side. I actually take the Baconnaise and mix it with regular mayo. This cuts back on the saltiness, and makes the smaller jar last longer.

Absolutely delicious. My only quibble is that it's a little saltier than I'd prefer so I use sparingly. A little goes a long way. It has no pork in it, which is great for vegetarians. Check out the blog on their website, it's got a lot of tasty uses and recipes. It doesn't seem to be widely available in stores so Amazon's 3 bottle price with free super saver shipping is a good deal.

You have to appreciate the uniqueness of this product. For people bored with condiment options for sandwiches and other dishes, then this product is for you. It is a bit salty for those that normally don't salt their foods, so beware. On warm foods like chicken patties, the sauce does become drippy (although I found it to taste best on chicken). Give it a try and have fun coming up with ways to use it.

I am a bacon connoisseur since I was raised on a farm and we made our own. I love all kinds of bacon, and just got diagnosed with high blood pressure so no more real bacon. 4 stars since I love the Smokey flavor this mayo has, but to me there is no bacon flavor to it, only a good Smokey flavor.

Ordered this after reading a review on the AV Club.

Right off the bat, it doesn't taste like spreadable bacon mixed with mayonnaise. It reminds one of bacon, and goes great with items that you'd pair bacon with, such as burgers, eggs, etc. However, the flavor is much better described as smokey seasoned mayonnaise. It's a little on the salty side, but that didn't bother me or most of my friends.

This is to say that it's delicious, and again works well on just about everything you put it on. It's also vegetarian, and fun at a party or office pot luck. Most of my coworkers were scared of it at first, but enjoyed it after they had a taste.

Black Raspberry Jam

I ordered this because Black Raspberry jellies and jams are hard to find locally.

Growing up in Indiana my grandmother and mother made homemade black raspberry pies and jams and I was looking for a product that would bring back those memories.

This is a very good jam but it doesn't compare to my grandma's, mainly because she used a lot of sugar. But being a diabetic I don't need the sugar and this product just suits me perfectly. It is all natural and if it has any sugar at all in it it must be very little. Black raspberries are naturally sweeter than blackberries so they don't need a lot of sugar.

I also ordered the frozen Black Raspberries to make pies and they are also excellent. Large nice berries.

This came in a variety box of decaf kcups, and it's the worst of the bunch. Almost no flavor.

I made a cup of decaf Breakfast Blend for my husband, and I made myself a cup of Newman's Own Organics Decaf Special Blend, K-cups for Keurig Brewers, 48-count in 2 Boxes of 24 Each. I thought he'd like the Breakfast Blend because that's often what he drinks in the morning. Apparently, my logic was flawed. My husband explained he mixes a cup of regular Breakfast Blend (for the caffeine) with a cup of dark roast (for the flavor), and then he said "Decaf breakfast blend is about as pointless as fat-free ribeye."

The Newman's Own decaf and the Green Mountain Vermont Country Blend DECAF (24 K-cups) Keurig were both very good. I can't tell much difference in the taste of those decafs compared to regular coffee.

This is a medium roast coffee, not to bold with a very nice finish. Great for an after-dinner coffee or a late-evening conversation

Barbara's Bakery Puffins Cereal, Honey Rice, 10-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

Being allergic to corn REALLY sucks because there are not that many cereals that don't contain corn in them (heck even plain ol Rice Krispies do... didn't know that did you?). So I am very glad to see Barbara's Bakery able to fulfill this need.

The Honey Rice Puffins maintain that perfect balance of being sweet, but not too sweet. Far too many sweetened cereals just go overboard in making them so saccharine it's inedible.

They stay very crunchy in milk. My preferred method is to have them with some plain greek yogurt, great breakfast or mid morning snack for me.

With a solid 3 grams of fiber, 1 gram of fat and only 120 calories per serving, they fit perfectly well in my diet.

Tons of crunch, sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, and healthy, can't get much better then this!

Pros:

Corn free and gluten free (less then 20ppm)!

Actually has some fiber in it.

Stays crunchy.

Cons:

Kinda pricy, but that's expected.

I buy this product because I am allergic to wheat and corn. It's near impossible to find good tasting cereals without those ingredients. I wish they made other flavors with the same ingredients. I'd like to have a peanut butter flavored cereal!

This cereal is really good, however as I was eating it, I had an odd taste in my mouth. But I couldn't really tell what it was from. Vanilla maybe? Anyway, you get used to it after a while and it very good, I mean, the taste isn't bad or anything..just strange. Well, very crunchy and yum! A bit pricey, but what do you expect? All gluten free food is usually expensive because of the non-gluten ingredients they have to use. Well, VERY GOOD CEREAL! Keep up the good work Babara, I would Love it if you could make some more gluten free cereals, maybe something with chocolate or cinnamon.

These bars taste great and are what I call do-able nutrition. They are not 100% healthy (most products aren't), but they are a healthier alternative than a candy bar for example and have great taste compared to other protein bars. I LOVE the peanut butter flavor, but these are disgusting and gritty. They taste like a chewy bar version of flintstones vitamins, and the coating on the outside is even worse.

Stash's Chamomile Caffeine Free Herbal Tea is one of their totally natural teas, containing only chamomile flowers. It is rather weak, but a fine tea---just use two teabags. Many people will find this tea too subtle. I think that Stash's more natural teas seem to be a little weak and undistinguished, while their flavored teas are super-powerful, erring on the side of too powerful for me, overwhelming the tea drinker with all types of strong added flavorings. If I had to pick, I'd always take subtle, as you can make these teas, like this chamomile tea, stronger by doubling up on the bags, but you can't make the strongly flavored teas weaker or less annoying.

Stash Tea had their 35th anniversary last month, so they've been around a while, and they are moving in the direction of more organic and loose teas, more true flavors instead of added flavorings. I appreciate that their chamomile is so pure, but wish it could be a little more flavorful.

Still, recommended.

Makes nice pudding. When mixed with milk the color is purplish. Delicious, nutty taste. They pop in your mouth while chewing.

Try this: mix and cook 1 cup white rice and 1/4 cup Black Forbidden Rice. Add handful of pine nuts and dried black currants, 2 teaspoons or more ground black pepper, 2 teaspoons sugar, dried mint and parsley, after rice is cooked. Stuff green peppers, white cabbage leaves or grape leaves in 1/2 cup olive oil, and water just enough to cover them. Cook on very low heat, covered about 30 minutes after it starts steaming, or until all the liquid is absorbed and a little oil left at the bottom. Serve and enjoy cold or at room temperature with a lemon slice.

Cabbage: You have to cut and pull out the thick stem before cooking the whole thing in a big pot of water. Stem part must be down,cook about 10 minutes. After it cools, peel the leaves carefully without breaking them and start stuffing, rolling like Chinese rolls. Grape leaves are available here at Amazon and in markets. Do one vegetable at a time and see which one you like. Have fun

Ask a Chinese friend about "forbidden rice" (禁米), unless they are history buff like myself, they will give you a puzzled look. The term refers to an obscure trade policy during Manchurian dynasty, not an exotic rice. I will not going to bore you with history here.

The story about emperor depriving commoners of red rice is a hoax made in America, like the legion of fortune cookies. Most fortune cookies are made in a wholesome factory near Atlanta. We trust that fortune cookies are safe to eat. "Forbidden rice?"

There is a red rice in China, dark red, close to red bean. The color varies from gran to gran. Its thick bran provides a pleasant nutty flavor and al dente texture. The color does not come off easily. You can get them from Chinese grocery store.

What is sold as "forbidden rice" at Amazon and Costco has a uniformed black to deep purple color. It appears to be rice over-milled, dyed, and polished. Drop a few grains in water, you can see color coming off. And the color tent to sink to the bottom. That is a easy tell tail. When cooked, the favor and texture of bran are absent. If they use red rice, they have milled away its bran to make the rice easy to dye.

There is nothing wrong with using food coloring. But is the ink FDA approved? We do not know. The label does not say.

I am returning mine to Costco. I will ask Costco to pull it off the shelf.
