Back To Nature Classic Granola, 13.5-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 6)

Back To Nature Classic Granola, 13.5-Ounce PouchesThis granola is great!! It has no nuts, which is hard to find in granola so I can use it in recipes that my daughter in law eats, who is allergic to nuts. It does not even say it is produced in a facility that processes nuts. It is fruit juice sweetened, low in fat,and simply delicious.

After trying multiple brands and flavors of granola, this one tops them all. I mix this granola with fresh fruit every day for breakfast. Very low sugar content. No cinnamon, raisins, or nuts, no flavors to interfere with the fruit. When a plain granola sells out every week in a cowboy town in Texasyou know its' good stuff! Buying it in bulk from Amazon from now on!

I've been buying this granola for over a year. I believe it tastes great. It is even better when you mix it 50/50 with the "Pecan and Cranberries" granola from Back to Nature. I enjoy it both ways!

I love this granola ... I used to be able to buy it in the store and now I can't find this product anywhere so being able to order on line was a blessing! Thanks!

We have enjoyed the Back to Nature Classic Granola for several years, and suddenly it is almost impossible to find it locally. Recently, I was able to purchase another hard-to-find product on Amazon for my daughter, so I decided to try Amazon again for the granola. The order arrived quickly and very securely packaged. I was skeptical about buying 6 pouches at once, but they had an 8-month expiration date. The first package we opened was very fresh. A very positive experience!

Bobo's Oat Bars All Natural, Banana, 3-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12)

Bobo's Oat Bars All Natural, Banana, 3-Ounce PackagesBobo's Oat Bars are delicious and nutritious! They make a very filling breakfast, snack, or meal replacement. And IMO, even though they come in a variety of terrific flavors, the banana and the original flavor are the two best.

I have to agree with Mr. Haschka. The banana is virtually nonexistent. That's too bad, because I REALLY wanted these to taste like banana bread. However, they are awesome, as usual. Really, they don't even need any added "flavor", like the banana, apricot or coconut. The dense, wonderful feel of oats and sweetness is great all by itself (well, adding a little layer of peanut butter on top doesn't hurt!). They are filling, great tasting and good for you. We will continue to buy Bobo's Oat Bars in a variety of flavors.

BOBO'S OAT BARS, named after the oldest daughter of entrepreneur and bar's creator Beryl Stafford, are "baked from the heart in Boulder, Colorado" and should prove to be a delight for oat lovers. The fact that the bar comes in several flavors almond, apricot, banana, chocolate, cinnamon-raisin, coconut, cranberry, original, peanut butter, strawberry may be irrelevant for reasons I shall mention.

At 3.5 inches x 2.25 inches x 1 inch, the bar is a dense, heavy, and pleasantly sweet treat with a strong oat flavor. Each bar is defined as two 180 calorie servings, which is absurd because nobody's going to eat only half the bar. (As a matter of fact, I'll thumb my nose at the Food Police and eat two before I go to the gym. So, there!) Each serving also has 6g fat (2g saturated), 20mg sodium, 9g sugars, 3g fiber, and 3g protein. But no cholesterol or trans fat.

The ingredients list for the banana version contains some things I've never run across before:

"Organic rolled oats, brown rice syrup, earth balance (expeller-pressed natural soy, palm, canola, and olive oil blend), filtered water, pure salt, natural flavor, soy lecithin, lactic acid (non-dairy) and annatto extract (color), organic sucanat (non-refined cane sugar), dried bananas (bananas, fructose), xantham gum. Contains soy. May contain traces of tree nuts and peanuts."

The ingredient "earth balance" sounds meaningless but very PC. These days, that's inordinately important.

Annatto extract is derived from the tropical achiote tree.

And "pure salt"? Does any ingredients list on a foodstuff include "impure salt"?

"Sucanat" is derived from "SUcre de CAnne NATurel", which is dried sugar cane juice that retains its molasses content.

When it comes to familiarity with common ingredients list components, I need to get out more. Perhaps they offer a night-school class for aging boomers at the local community college.

The reason I'm not awarding five stars is that the ostensible banana taste was so subtle as to be virtually non-existent. The only other Bobo's version I've tried was the apricot, and that also seemed minimally flavored. The muted essences were unexpected in something so dense, especially as the oats come across so strongly.

The high points of the bar are, for me, the oat flavor and the "mouth feel." It goes great with cold moo juice. Despite their high price at local outlets $2.69 per bar I'd buy more, and make an effort to sample the other flavors to see if they're better presented.

P.S. 8/9/11: See my review of Bobo's Oat Bars All Natural, Chocolate, 3-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12).

I love the taste of these bars and the oat health that goes along with eating them! I do purchase these items on a semi regular basis. That said, two things hold me back from buying and eating them more often: 1) The calories are high (but the texture and taste make it worth it) and 2) The price point is still a bit high. I feel like for the cost of a handful oats as the primary ingredient that paying over $2.30 per 3.0 oz bar is too much.

Bobo's banana flavor is unbeatable. Who knew an oat bar could be this good! Anyone that enjoys healthy, flavorful products will be hooked. I guarantee it!

Post grape-nuts Flakes Cereal, 14-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)

Post grape-nuts Flakes Cereal, 14-Ounce BoxesOur family LOVES this cereal. I used to buy it regularly at the local Safeway. Unfortunately, as with the experience of many others, the local grocery store no longer carries it.

When buying it at Safeway, I could find it quite often "on sale" for $2 per box and that box was larger than the paltry 14-ouncers Amazon is peddling here (can't recall, but I believe it was an 18 oz size)

A LITTLE ARITHMETIC:

1. If I was buying 18 oz for $2, the price was 11 cents an ounce (even if the boxes were 14 oz, the price still would have been 14.3 cents per oz).

2. Amazon is selling us 6 14 oz boxes (84 oz) for $25.14 (and telling us it is "discounted" from $28.89!). This amounts to 30 cents an ounce. You can get it down to 25.4 cents an ounce IF you agree to regular interval deliveries something I'd be GLAD to do for the RIGHT PRICE!

NOTE: At 30 cents an ounce, we are paying $4.80 per pound I can buy several punds of chicken, hamburger, or even a pretty good steak for that per-pound price.

CONCLUSION: this great product seems to have disappeared from the local store shelves and, in order to get it, we now have to pay 2 to 3 times as much making grape nut flakes more costly than many meats. I suspect that this is very profitable and I'd rather be a seller than a buyer!!

If anyone know of better pricing options, please post them!

Also, POST and AMAZON, if you are listening, PLEASE see if you couldn't provide this absolutely great product at a little better price. Many thanks for reading.

I always liked Grape-Nuts Flakes better than Grape-Nuts. The regular Grape-Nuts are too much like chewing gravel to me. The flakes have a great nutty flavor. They do get soggy very quickly, though. Sometimes I like them that way. If you don't like soggy cereal, I recommend cutting the serving in half, eat the first half with milk, then add the second half to the remaining milk. Or just eat fast :)

Grew up eating this cereal back in the 1950s, have continued to enjoy them though lately they have changed in consistency, becoming more crunchy. Not as easy to find, although our local Wal-Mart has a recent stock.

At $.17 cents a box back in the late 1950s, and my local Wal-Mart price under $3.00 a box, you're price here really astounds me. They're very good, but at your price of approximately $10.00/box, not that good!

Semper Fi.

Grape Nuts Flakes is Grape Nut Flakes. It's not like I didn't know what the product was when I ordered it. We were having difficulty finding the product on our local grocery store shelves. Price was good when coupled with others s for free shipping. Delivery was prompt. Could have been better packaged in the shipping carton. The end boxes of the 4 pack were pretty beat up. The product was OK, but the boxes wouldn't stand up when seperated.

Back To Nature Blueberry Walnut Granola to Go ( 6x7.5 OZ) ( Value Bulk Multi-pack)

Back To Nature Blueberry Walnut Granola to Go 7.5 OZI bought the Blueberry Walnut along with the Honey Almond. Both are good, and shipping was fast; those are what the two stars are for. The others are empty because this was advertised as a pack of 30, and in reality it is a pack of 6! I contacted the seller, and they defended themselves stating that there are indeed 30 pouches. 30 1.5 oz packages that is, not 30 packs of 5, which they seem to be advertising in their title.

"If it seems too good to be true, it probably is." Just makes me sick that I paid so much for these.

Cocomama Foods Quinoa Cereal, 5 Ounce (Pack of 3)

Cocomama Foods Banana Cinnamon Quinoa Cereal, 5-OunceI have read some of the other reviews, and I'm not sure what the expectation of most people is for this cereal. The name is "Cocomama", and the second ingredient (after water) is coconut cream. Quinoa is the third ingredient. With this in mind the taste and consistency are exactly as I thought it would be.

It tastes a lot like almonds with a bit of honey to me, which, interestingly, is the flavor of this product! I probably should not deduct a star for it since it is exactly as was expected, but after trying the blueberry flavor, which has a much better taste, I will have to reserve my 5 stars for the blueberry!

Will I buy it again? We'll see. I still have the Banana Cinnamon and the Orange Cranberry to try. Once I have my favorite couple of flavors I will occassionally buy those two so that I don't get bored with only one flavor. Then I will have some great "on the go" options for breakfast!

I have really come to enjoy this quinoa cereal which has all the benefits of quinoa that you would expect and delivers a great breakfast. I like to just heat in a microwave for a few minutes just eat.

We have taken these camping as well as a good source of fuel in the morning or for a snack that doesn't need to be heated to be good.

I got two packages each of the Banana Cinnamon and Wild Blueberry flavors from a daily deal site for vegans (Spencer's Market). I wanted something shelf stable to keep in my desk for a quick meal or snack that is all-natural, not too high in calories and with a good amount of protein. This absolutely fits the bill it is easy to heat (Or you can eat it cold, but heated definitely tastes better). The ingredients are all -natural, and thanks to the quinoa, has some good protein in there as well without a ton of sugar. (Although 14 grams of sugar might be too high to eat this on a regular basis.)

My one quibble with it is the price at $4 a serving it is definitely cheaper to just make your own quinoa at home and then you can control the amount of sugar you add. Still, as a convenience item for when healthier choices aren't available, it's great.

I have tried all the flavors of Cocomama Cereal and hands down my favorite is the Blueberry with the Banana Cinnamon a close second. Delicious flavor. Just the right amount of sweetness and blueberries. It reminds me of those mornings when my mom used to make a fuss over me and serve me warm cereal for breakfast. It makes me feel all warm, fuzzy and healthy! Only the very best ingredients are used and it is Gluten Free which is a big plus for me. I love the individual packets for travel and work.
