Paleo People Apple Crisp Granola 5 Oz Bag

Paleo People Apple Crisp Granola 5 Oz BagThe flavor of this product is ok, not amazing but not bad either. Ingreds are good and I want to consume more seeds so aside from the price, this seemed like a good buy.

However, in my first two bites I chomped down on not one but 2 ROCK-like pits....yikes...I know there is always a risk with foods like this but have never seen foreign pits this substantial in any product.

Exercise caution when consuming this product, and if you have certain kinds of dental work you may want to skip it altogether.

Leila Bay Trading Company Apple Cinnamon Granola, 12-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 3)

Leila Bay Trading Company Apple Cinnamon Granola, 12-Ounce PouchesThis is my first order of this product so I can't say if it was a batch issue or if it is the general texture of the granola. Some of the pieces were so hard that I literally thought I was going to break my tooth. Similarly, the raisins have the chewiest consistency I've ever tasted in a raisin. Contrasting the hard/chewy, a good bit of one bag was completely pulverized. I don't know if that's a shipping issue or if that was intentional in the product's presentation. It is odd if you grab it by handfuls/spoonfuls because sometimes you get a hearty mix and other times you get dust.

The taste of this granola is outstanding. It comes close to being in my top 5 favorite brands. I will definitely order again and will update on the next batches texture. I do recommend this to others. If you eat slowly and have solid chompers, you should be fine.

My son absolutely LOVES this granola!! It's full of flavor and just the right consistency. If you don't have time for a bowl full of granola, you can just grab a handful and go. This company makes several flavors of granola and all of them are tasty, but first place taste goes to the apple cinnamon!

Rachael Ray Fancy Boy Grinders Pink Himalayan Salt, 3.88-Ounce

Rachael Ray Fancy Boy Grinders Pink Himalayan Salt, 3.88-OunceI bought both her pepper and slt grinder and found that they actually grind extremely well. I wasn't sure how well the grinders would work but I am pleasantly surprised how well they do work!

This Himalayan salt actually tastes different (BETTER) than regular table salt, something I was not expecting. The grinder works well enough; however it will occasionally stick. Nothing to knock a star off for though. Overall, pleased!

Fine light tasting salt...but my grinder was very hard to use.

Actually had to hold it upside down with cap on, grind out a lot and used as needed from cap.

Contacted Rachel Ray site, and then was given another number which I never could get through...would not buy this product again because of the grinding issues.

BTW this salt can be acquired at a much lower price, equal quality, and can be used to fill your own best grinder.

I ordered two of these for my orange kitchen. Put them by my stove. Took salt out of 1 and put pepper corns in, so I now have a matched set although the sticker is hard to remove. (Thanks Rachel) The salt is very hard to operate but they work for what I wanted.

PowerBar Harvest Whole Grain Energy Bar, 2.29-Ounce Bars (Pack of 15)

2012 Powerbar Harvest Bars - BoxI make no claims to sports nutrition (or any nutrition for that matter)expertise, so I'll just call it a snack, and leave its place in your exercise program between you and your personal doctor/nutritionist/coach/guru. However, I will say that this is a much better than average tasting sports bar/snack (name your preference), free of the cardboad-ish and stale texture and barely identifiable aftertastes common to similar products.

While noone will compare this to a real apple crisp, this convenient food for those on the go has recognizable tastes of oats (this flavor and texture predominates), apple, and cinnamon, due in large part, I suspect, to the fact that it actually contains those ingredients! There are also raisins, cane and other sugars--including fructose from fruit juices-giving it a sweet but not cloying (as they say at the wineries) taste. This company is known for its quality ingredients and generally consumer-friendly face; you can read more about them at powerbar.com. The company recommends consuming this with water to aid the absorption of the many added nutrients--this also gives one a more "full" feeling. One of the better tasting snacks of this type; I've listed nutritional information and ingredients (from the web site) below.

Nutritional Information:

*Percent Daily Values (DV) are based on a 2,000 calorie diet.

In one Serving Size (One Bar; total=65 grams), there are 240 calories and 35 calories from fat 35 (6% of DV). Total Fat=4grams (g) (6% of DV), which includes 0.5 grams of Saturated Fat (3%)and 0 g (as in none) Trans Fat. No Cholesterol and 140 mg of sodium (6%). Total Carbohydrates = 42g (14%), of which fiber is 5g (20%), and sugars, 20g. (Does anyone carbo-load anymore?). Protein 10g (16%)

Vitamins and Minerals:

Vitamin A (20%), Vitamin C (80%), Calcium (40%), Iron (25%), Vitamin E (80%), Thiamin (40%), Riboflavin (40%), Niacin (40%), Vitamin B6 (40%), Folate (80% Vitamin B12 (80%), Biotin (40%), Pantothenic Acid (80%), Phosphorus (20% Magnesium (20%), Zinc (20%), Copper (20%), Chromium (20%), Vitamin K (20%), Iodine (20%), Manganese (20%), Molybdenum (20%), Selenium (20%),

Salud!

If you are a fan of peanut butter and chocolate, than this bar is for you. I've tried a number of energy bars and they all suffer from one problem -bland taste and usually end up leaving a gritty aftertaste in my mouth. Not so with PowerBar.

I make a PowerBar part of my regular morning routine. After trying a few of the other flavors I finally stumbled upon the peanut butter and chocolate chip and was "hooked". The flavor is just right and the crispness of the bar is not too hard, but firm enough to make you "feel" like you are eating a full meal. One bar will usually kill any cravings I have all throughout the morning.

(NOTE: I think they may sometimes make slight revisions to the ingredients and/or nutritional analysis. You could compare my ingredient list to theirs as a way to check whether this review covers the exact same product on this page.)

Perhaps the best thing that can be said about this flavor of Power Bar is that it fills you up, and it's not an unpleasant experience. Perhaps the one I tried had been sitting on the shelf for too long, but it definitely did not taste "fresh-picked," as touted on the Power Bar website. Instead, there was a suggestion of strawberry flavor despite the presence of large pieces of dried fruit. There was a nice taste of oat flakes--whole oats are the bar's main ingredient (see below). Alongside this flavor was a cardboard-like texture that definitely fills you up but that tastes tale and gummy.

That said, the power bar does fill you up, especially if you drink the suggested 8 glasses of water with it (they don't say over what time interval). There are 45 grams of carbs, of which 18 are sugar and 4 are fiber. I don't know what happened to the other 23 grams. In addition there are 4 grams of fat, 0.5 grams of which are saturated, 7 grams of protein, 240 calories (35 from fat), no cholesterol, and 80 mg of sodium. Those with nut allergies may want to know that the product is made on equipment that also processes peanuts and nuts. Nothing organic and a heavy reliance on vitamin additives may turn some people off to these, but they're a quick and filling portable snack.

INGREDIENTS: Whole Oats, Brown Rice Syrup, Dried Strawberries (Strawberries, Sugar, Rice Flour, Ascorbic Acid, Sunflower Oil), Rice Crisps (Milled Rice, Sugar, Salt, Barley Malt), Brown Rice Evaporated Cane Juice Syrup, Dried Cranberries (Sugar, Cranberries, Sunflower Oil), Roasted Soy Beans, Almond Butter, Honey, Pear and Grape Juice Concentrates, Soy Protein Isolate, Natural Flavors, Glycerin, Nonfat Dry Milk.

MINERALS and Percent Daily Value Based on 2,000 calorie diet:: 15% of calcium, phosphorus, (Calcium Phosphate), magnesium (Magnesium Carbonate), zinc (Zinc Gluconate), Iron (Ferrous Fumarate), and copper (Copper Gluconate).

VITAMINS: 100% of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and Vitamin E Acetate (100%). 50% of Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Pantothenic Acid (Calcium Pantothenate), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B1 (Thiamin Mononitrate), Folate (Folic Acid), Biotin, and Vitamin B12. 15% of of Phosphorus, Zinc, Copper, and Magnesium.

I was worried about ordering these online, but the ones I received were fresher than what I usually get in the store. Since I am addicted to them (they are great meal replacements when I am traveling or if I miss breakfast or a snack) and now that my family also loves them it was getting expensive to buy 15 a week in the store. These saved me money and tasted better! Great product. Thank you

The strawberry Harvest bars are very good. They aren't candy bar sweet, but they aren't meant to be either. I don't like dry PowerBars in general, but the Harvest one is much better.

I read the last reviewer's analysis, and I think my last box I purchased on Amazon was good for 9 months. I have purchased this twice before from Amazon, buying 2 boxes to get free shipping. I would do so again.

Ancient Harvest Organic Quinoa, Inca Red, 12-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12)

Ancient Harvest Organic Quinoa, Inca Red, 12-Ounce BoxesQuinoa is a fast cooking antioxidant rich "whole grain" (actually a grass) that has a fairly complete amino acid profile. Check out the Harvard School of Public Health web site where the eminent nutrition specialist, Walter Willett, puts whole grains on the second level of his evidence based nutrition pyramid along with healthy oils and after exercise.

This is a nutty tasting uniquely colored, delicious, whole food that has a centuries old history.

...but quinoa is better. This is good stuff; it cooks just like brown rice but has a nuttier flavor and is considerably more nutritious. At under $3 a box, it's cheaper buying it at Amazon than at the supermarket, and it is VERY difficult finding it here in Florida where people tend toward grits and rice. As an added bonus for those to whom it applies, quinoa is technically not a grain; as such, both the regular and Inca Red varieties of Ancient Harvest brand quinoa bearing the "Half-Moon K" (as these do -see my customer image) are kosher for Passover. The boxes bearing this symbol come from a factory that processes quinoa only, so there is no chance of chometz contamination.

Quinoa is a wonderful grain, with lots of protein. The company gave a great support and recommended that I order it through Amazon because of the free delivery. There are also more recipes on their website. It's as easy to cook as rice, can be eaten cold or hot, and increases protein in your diet in an easily digestible form.

Ancient Harvest red quinoa is the most delicious grain I have EVER eaten, and I am a vegetarian so I have tried almost all of them. Cook it in a rice cooker with a cube of veggie broth and a finely diced carrot--YUMMMM! It's slightly sweet flavor goes with everything--cole slow, green beans, you name it, and the intense concentration of protein in the quinoa means it easily works as your main dish for a meal. Try it--you'll like it.

Good protein source. Gluten-free. On the box, the National Academy of Sciences is quoted, referring to quinoa as "one of the best sources of protein in the vegetable kingdom."

My family has tried to add some vegetarian dishes to our diet. This, and two other types of quinoa, form a key part of that effort. One simple dish: small potatoes and quinoa boiled for a bit. Then put them in the oven, covered with cheese, onions, and sopme herbs and bake until done. Tasty--and nutritious! And vegetarian. In this dish, the quinoa is kind of crunchy, adding a nice texture to the dish.

As an entree to the world of quinoa, this is a nice product. . . .
