Peace Cereal Hearty Low Fat Clusters and Flakes Cereal Raisin Bran -- 10.5 oz

Peace Cereal Hearty Low Fat Clusters and Flakes Cereal Raisin Bran -- 10.5 ozThis cereal is made with the following ingredients, per the listing on the box: "Whole wheat flour, raisins (raisins, vegetable glycerin, vegetable oil [canola and/or sunflower oil]), wheat bran, milled cane sugar, barley malt syrup, whole rolled oats, vegetable oil (canola and/or safflower and/or sunflower oil), rice flour, oat fiber, salt, honey, annatto (for color), turmeric (for color), mixed tocopherols (natural vitamin E to maintain freshness), cardamom seed, fennel seed, fenugreek seed, nutmeg. Contains wheat. Produced in a facility that processes tree nuts, wheat and soy."

Each one-cup serving is 190 calories, about 80 calories more than Kellogg's Raisin Bran (KRB). It has more fat than KRB, but also more fiber and more protein. This bran cereal contains 2 g fat (18 calories), 44 g of carbohydrates (176 calories) of which 8 g is fiber. The fiber is equivalent to 32 calories, which are not digestible by the body and can effectively be subtracted from the 176 calories for carbs, bringing it down to 144 calories. It has 6 g protein (32 calories). That comes to a total calorie count of 194, which is very close to the 190 calories listed. The minimal difference is because carbs and protein are slightly less than 4 calories per gram, and fat is slightly less than 9 calories per gram.

This cereal is described by the manufacturer as "whole grain oat clusters," and given that the recipe for making them is different than Kellogg's Raisin Bran, it is not surprising that they don't taste the same as that product. However, in their own right they taste quite good.

This product is not sugar-free, but it uses natural sweeteners which are slightly less unhealthy than the white sugar, brown sugar or high fructose corn syrup that KRB uses. These natural sweeteners consist of milled cane sugar, barley malt syrup, and honey. The milled cane sugar and barley malt syrup are vegan, by the way, but honey is not considered to be vegan, so it is too bad the manufacturer added it to this cereal, or they could have had another selling point. In terms of health, though, the truth is, all sweeteners which are either fructose or sucrose, which each of the sweeteners mentioned above are, raise blood glucose levels. The advantage for controlling blood-glucose spikes that this cereal offers over and beyond what KRB provides is more fiber, more protein and a little bit more fat, all of which act like anchors on blood glucose levels, lessening spikes of blood glucose due to the relatively large percentage of carbs that any breakfast cereal contains, no matter who makes it.

A true advantage of this cereal over KRB is that it contains no artificial coloring, flavoring or preservatives. (Note that the KRB ingredient list does not admit to any coloring agents or preservatives, which I find very odd and very likely a dishonest omission--it's simply not possible that it has no preservatives in it of any kind to maintain freshness. Here are all the ingredients listed on the KRB box and on the Kellogg's website: "Whole grain wheat, raisins, wheat bran, sugar, brown sugar syrup, contains 2% or less of salt, malt flavor.")

What this cereal has used to color, flavor and preserve its cereal are an impressive list of very healthy substances. Mixed tocopherols maintain freshness. This is the form of vitamin E that is best absorbed in the body. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that fights cancer and heart disease. Annatto and turmeric are used to color the cereal. Annatto is rich in antioxidants that function similarly to vitamin E, and turmeric is particularly well known for its anti-inflammatory properties. This cereal also contains cardamom seed, fennel seed, and fenugreek seed, all of which are strong aids to digestion. Studies on the action of fenugreek have also found it is helpful in controlling cholesterol and blood-sugar levels. Nutmeg has antibacterial action, in particular combating the bacteria that cause tooth decay. In addition, nutmeg contains compounds protective of the heart and that help prevent Alzheimer's. It also tastes great and, much like cinnamon, when used in baked goods or cereals, can cause them to taste sweeter so that less sugar is needed.

There is no mention of this product being organic, though the company makes this sales pitch: "By effectively combining the finest all natural ingredients, sustainable practices and regular giving to worthy causes, Peace Cereal truly delivers Peace of Mind in Every Bite!"

All in all, as high-carb cereals go, this one is a good bet. It is not safe for people with wheat or soy allergies, though, and diabetics would be better off eating a cereal with no sweetener of any kind and using a natural sweetener with no calories that does not raise the blood sugar like stevia powder.

Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookie Chocolate Chunk, Vegan, 3-Ounce Individually Wrapped Cookies (Pack of

Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookie Chocolate Chunk, Vegan, 3-Ounce Individually Wrapped CookiesI was so excited to get these because I thought it would be a great healthy snack to keep at my desk. I ordered these and other flavor (double chocolate chunk) and after eating a couple of each, noticed that one of the cookies had bluish green mold on it. I assumed it was a bad one in the batch. I saw on the manufacturer's website that these should be stored in the freezer since the shelf life is 90 days (due to natural ingredients and no preservatives). I immediately put them in the freezer after getting them 3 weeks earlier. The next 4 cookies I opened had that same mold on it and after I examine the rest, I found that they all were moldy. Apparently Amazon had them stored in their warehouse for a while before I rec'd them. Since there were no dates stamped on the cookies, I have no idea how long they sat in the warehouse before I got them.

I will not be ordering these again and will be wary of ordering other food products from Amazon.com. They were great about refunding my money and I will continue to purchase from amazon, just not short shelf life food items.

I'm a veg who makes vegan baked goods and generally uses applesauce or banana as an egg substitute, so I'm no stranger to fruit in baking. However, these cookies have an overwhelming fruity aroma, smell and taste, that I found hard to like and even swallow. I'm guessing it might be the prune puree in the ingredients. Oh and there were a disappointing number of chocolate chips in them one cookie had two small chocolate chunks. With no chocolate to compensate for the fruity aroma 2 stars.

However, I find these filling and better with a big cup of coffee. So if you like fruitiness and want something filling for a breakfast on the go, this can be a good vegan breakfast item.

Vegan. Natural. Kosher. Big cookie. Mild delicious chocolate flavor. Very soft with some chewy oats mixed in. Kind of big for a snack, but is nice for quick breakfast or meal replacement. Substantial. Vegans will especially find these cookies useful, nourishing, and convenient. 310 calories per cookie. 6g of protein. This cookie was a Vegan Grocery *** TRIPLE+ *** in the 24 pack, which is no longer available. Hopefully the good word will again flourish for the benefit of everyone. I believe this is the first 'vegan' product I have ever knowingly tried that is touted as vegan. The title 'vegan' in anything rather tends to scare me (as in my ignorance I have nothing to compare vegan items to, coupled with a sincere love of dairy).

However, Amazon dropped the price of these to a point where I could no longer deny my family trying them.

Here is the best that I can do to describe the taste (and please, my vegan friends, do not have a stroke at the level of my simplicity I mean no disrespect):

They taste like cookie dough cookies not cooked. If you like/enjoy cookie dough you should love these cookies. My entire family does/did (past tense as the entire 12 cookies were WOLFED down by my cookie-dough loving crew).

NOTE: if taken from a FROZEN state (where we store all our Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookies), they require only **20** seconds to totally heat up. The non-vegan varieties we heat for 30 seconds and still have a cold-spot or two. These TOTALLY heat through, for us, in 20 seconds and are unbelievably delicious.

I heard about these cookies many, many years ago from Weight Watchers meetings. I used to eat them a lot, but had basically forgotten about them. While running a search on Amazon, these popped up and, seeing they were vegan (I am now a vegetarian, attempting to eat vegan as much as possible), I had to try them. They are every bit as magically delicious as their non-vegan counterparts that I ate many years ago. I store them in the freezer, as recommended, and I pop them in the toaster oven on "toast" for about 5 minutes (microwaving them works, toasting is just better tasting if you have a few extra minutes adds a bit of toasty crunch on the outer layer, while still leaving the cookie moist and chewy exactly how I like them!). At around 300 calories, they are very filling without going overboard, and full of healthy, natural ingredients. If I am super hungry, I add a soy yogurt and an apple and I can go until dinner on this filling meal. I LOVE these cookies!

French Breakfast Radish Seeds - Raphanus Sativus - 3 Grams - Approx 300 Gardening Seeds - Vegetable

French Breakfast Radish Seeds - Raphanus Sativus - 3 Grams - Approx 300 Gardening Seeds - Vegetable Garden SeedFrench Breakfast radishes are a real garden treat. I plant them every year and am rewarded with fresh radishes from the garden each spring. This is an early spring crop, so plant as soon as the frosts are over. I plant a row each week for 4 weeks to get a continual supply of radishes. French Breakfast radishes have a red body with white tips. They are about 3-4" long and take about 28 days to mature. Do not leave them in much longer than this or they will get pithy (hollow). Water regularly to ensure even growth and prevent spliting. These are easy to grow and very mild and tasty. They are generally not a "hot" radish. Fine for eating whole or slicing on salads. Grubs tend to enjoy these radishes, so you may want to consider a grub killer before planting.

The French Breakfast Radishes are awesome, tasty little guys. And they're not just for breakfast anymore... snacks, salads, even plate eye candy. I really appreciate Amazon's "long tail" in supporting specialized vegetable items.

Old Wessex Irish Style Oatmeal -- 18.5 oz

Old Wessex Irish Style Oatmeal -- 18.5 ozI've bought this twice now and it's the best oatmeal I've ever tasted. It's a coarse-textured oatmeal that cooks up in 5 minutes on the stove (or can be microwaved). I buy it by the case! I've also bought another brand of Scottish oatmeal/porridge that's thinner and takes longer to cook. I greatly prefer the Old Wessex. Highly recommend.

Chipotle Pepper Sauce (mild) (1500-2500 Scoville Heat Units),

Sweet & Spicy Pepper Sauce (mildest) (100-600 Scoville Heat Units),

Buffalo Style Pepper Sauce (even milder yet) (300-900 Scoville Heat Units),

Dueling histories of the McIlhenny Company are available: (authorized) Tabasco: An Illustrated History and (unauthorized) McIlhenny's Gold: How a Louisiana Family Built the Tabasco Empire, for those curious about how this most remarkable product and business empire came to be.

Note: "A pharmacist named Wilbur Scoville invented the Scoville Scale in 1912 to measure the heat of peppers. A 'Scoville Unit' is actually a measure of capsaicin (the chemical in hot peppers that is responsible for their heat).

Scoville's test was a comparative taste test that is considered subjective by today's standards. A more sophisticated method is in use today, but in honor of Wilbur Scoville, the unit of measure is still called the Scoville.

The capsaicin level in peppers can vary from plant to plant due to local environmental conditions. This means that a pepper's rating is an average measure.

The hottest pepper on record is the Bhut Jolokia with a pungency of over 1 million Scoville Heat Units (1,001,304, to be exact). By contrast, the Bell Pepper comes in at less than 100 Scoville Heat Units."

Nutri-Grain Cereal Bars, Apple Cinnamon, 8-Count Bars (Pack of 4)

Nutri-Grain Cereal Bars, Apple Cinnamon, 8-Count BarsKellogg's Nutri-Grain cereal bars have an apple cinnamon flavor that I love! They make a great quick breakfast when you can't take time for something more substantial; and they are good snacks for people on the go and for kids after school.

These bars are relatively low in fat--and there's no trans-fat--thank goodness! They have no cholesterol and they are low in sodium. They do have 26 grams of carbohydrates per bar, however.

The vitamin and nutrition information is good but it could have been better. I suspect Kellogg's "sugars these up" to make them sweet and a bit more addictive than they really should be. There's no vitamin C but you do get some vitamin content including B6 and A. Of course, these bars don't provide 100% of these vitamins. They're not truly health bars. In addition, they do contain some sugar. If that is a concern for you, ask your doctor before eating these cereal bars.

Overall, as another reviewer notes, these are great for kids who don't want breakfast before school; and if you're on the go these are better than candy bars for sure! Try some and see!

I think these bars make a great snack for someone who isn't a complete health nut, but wants to replace some of the more unhealthy snacks in their diet. These fruit bars taste great, and have a pretty good texture. They are low-calorie, low-fat, and have a decent serving of vitamins in them. These will definitely be something that I will keep in my pantry :)

I love these bars but the prices have been getting out of control lately. I highly recommend the Millville brand that is available at Aldi's markets for under a dollar and a half for eight bars. They even have a better taste IMO. Hope this helps!

I have been purchasing these cereal bars at my local grocery store for a while now but I recently decided to order them from Amazon because of the convenience and price. To my surprise this decision had a hidden bonus, these cereal bars are even fresher and taste better then the ones I was getting in the grocery store. If you are like me and enjoy one each day as part of your breakfast routine, then I definitely recommend these!!

MySuperSnack Soft Granola Bites, Blueberry Banana Acai, 1.41 Ounce (Pack of 6)

MySuperSnack Soft Granola Bites, Blueberry Banana Acai, 1.41 OunceMy kids LOVE these! It's very rare to find a snack for kids that's both healthy and delicious, but these Granola Bites satisfy both of those requirements. They even come in a convenient resealable pack for eating on the go (not that we usually have any leftover!).

My toddler loves all the MySuperSnack Flavors! Snack times can become a negotiation where the food is either unhealthy, turns into a full meal or ends in tears when I cut him off. No tears with granola bites, because he is actually full after a packet, I love that! I love that the packet can be resealed so I don't have smashed bits at the bottom of my bag (not that there are any bits left to be resealed usually), I love that it is super healthy, and I love that it is made by two moms. Highly recommend for picky eaters, and "bottomless pit" eaters!
