Bay View Pickled Eggs, 2 Jars

Bay View Pickled Eggs, 2 JarsIf you like pickled eggs, these are as good as any I've ever had. Makes a great grab & go breakfast, or quick snack. I was impressed with the quality and care that went into packing for shipping.

Luna Bars, 1.69-Ounce Bars

Clifbar Luna Bar - 15 Pack Chocolate Dipped Coconut, One SizeWe discovered Luna Bars at a grocery store recently when they were on sale for a dollar apiece. We bought one of each kind to see which ones we like best. We figured for that price how could we go wrong. Well after trying all of them, my wife has weighed in...

HER FAVORITE: Chocolate Pecan Pie.

She loves Chocolate. She lives on Chocolate. And since we're on a diet similar to Body for Life and has a hard time stomaching the whey-filled protein bars, these are a welcome treat. They aren't overloaded with protein, but for the calories are extremely comparable to the leading protein bars (in a calorie-protein ratio comparison). Our only complain with the bars is that they're a little high in fat, especially saturated. Nevertheless, they are much, much better than most other treats out there.

Now, where to buy? Well Amazon of course. It is great. Amazon is the same price as local stores when they are on sale except Amazon provides free shipping and no tax (not to mention no driving to the grocery store or healthfood store) so they actually end up being cheaper on here everyday than elsewhere on sale. We always buy all of our drinks and bars on Amazon. A word of caution though, be careful which Amazon vender you buy from. Vitamin Shoppe is usually the cheapest but sometimes direct from Amazon is comparable. The other venders tend to be more expensive. Hope this helps.

I admit I have somewhat of a sweet tooth, but since I am lactose intolerant there aren't many candy bars I can eat. I am also into healthy food so the Luna Bars are a good compromise. Don't let the fact you're a guy stop youthese are marketed towards women (because of the soy craze), there's nothing here that can harm you.

The Dulce flavor is among my favorite flavor (along with Nutz/Pecan and Dreams), having a sort of caramel/"rice crispy treat" taste. Only problem is that I like this flavor so much I tend to eat too many, and they have alot of calories. So don't eat too many unless you are a very active person.

The Clif line are a great help to those of us with health issues, and I commend them for their wonderful products.

For anyone who has not tried these, you won't believe how good they taste. I started eating soy after being diagnosed with colitis 3 years ago. Since then, I've been symptom and medicine free (by eating soy). This bar is a great way to get your soy! It's like eating a candy bar for a snack! Not gritty, or nasty tasting like some of the other bars I've tried. The S'mores flavor is also really good.

I had bariatric surgery. Afterwards, I tried numerous protein bars--they all tasted very bad. I happened upon Luna bars--I saw they were designed for women-and read the contents. They contained more vitamins and minerals than any of the higher priced protein bars, even the ones the bariatric department at the local hospital was pushing. I like most of the flavors--they aren't real sweet, they aren't dry, and there is no after taste. I've lost over 170 lbs and I know it wouldn't have been possible without the Luna bars. They gave me energy, took care of my sweet tooth, and are very convenient. I still took regular multi-vitamins--they don't replace those, just supplement what you are already taking.

After ordering windsor pilates they recomend eating energy bars as a snack with no more than 150 calories & 3 grams of fat; Luna for woman was closest to what was recommended having 170-180 calories & under 3 grams of fat. They taste good too. I highly suggest these as a fixer until your next meal.

Enjoy Life Cinnamon Raisin Crunch Granola, Gluten, Dairy & Nut Free, 12.8-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 6)

Enjoy Life Cinnamon Raisin Crunch Granola, Gluten, Dairy & Nut Free, 12.8-Ounce PouchesThis granola/cereal is great. I have many allergies and I never get sick no matter how much of this I eat. The new formula is crunchy in a nicer way unlike the old formula could have broken a tooth. (There were uncooked rice grains in there like little stones.) I add splenda and a little more cinnamon and cover it in skim milk, then heat it up in the microwave. It's thickens like oatmeal and it's very tasty that way! Also good in yogurt.

I'm suprised by the negative reviews of this I eat this as a snack, not a breakfast a 1/2 cup of this in a baggie taken to work and eaten like I would normally have eaten potato chips very crunchy, very nice.

This granola is yummy and for those who need gluten-free AND no corn or soy or nuts, it is a fabulous find. I've tried Enjoy Life's variety with dried strawberries and it's good as well. I highly recommend Amazon's subscribe and save for your favorite specialty foods that are offered that way. No shipping cost (even if less than […]) and at least for those I purchase there is a significant savings over local store prices. In Seattle, the shipment arrives in just 2 days as well. With subscribe and save you can sign up for every six months delivery and change that schedule or order an extra shipment or cancel whenever you want too.

I purchased this product as a snack item... I have to agree with the other reviewers, this granola is just plain bad. It is hard but not crunchy. The pieces are irregular--some much to large to eat since it is so hard, others too small. I actually came on the web to figure out if anybody found a viable way to use up this product--a recipe or something. So far, no luck.

Typically I find that Enjoy Life products surprise me with how good they areespecially considering they avoid the ten most common allergens in their ingredients. I want to like this product, but it just just does not stand up to the superior taste quality I have found in other products I have enjoyed from this company. The box advertises a "NEW crunchier taste!" and, sans the "er", the claim would be an outright lie. The product is not remotley crunchy, however, the texture is not wholly unpleasant, though it is visually unappealing. The cinnamon taste is what made this product unpalatable; it is very overpowering and after eating only a few pieces creates an oil like coating on the tongue, that is not at all quick to dissipate. The cinnamon taste is less akin to that of an oatmeal cookie, and more like the taste of cinnamon oil in an inexpensive candy. Sorry Enjoy Life this one's just not for me.

Boulder Canyon Garden Select Red Ripe Tomato Vegetable Crisps, 5-Ounce

Boulder Canyon Garden Select Red Ripe Tomato Vegetable Crisps, 5-OunceThese have a fairly good flavor and the texture is ok. They definitely are not thin like a chip, more like a frito. A little high on price, but still okay for a snack.

Mountain House Breakfast Skillet Camping Food (1 Can)

Mountain House Breakfast Skillet Camping Food
  • Easy to prepare?just add hot water
  • Includes ten 1 cup servings
  • 25 year shelf life
  • Made in the USA
  • Single Can
  • Easy to prepare, just add hot water

OK, first off, I really am a Chef. I have cooked in 4-star restaurants and greasy spoon dives in my 20+ year career. That having been said, these meals are actually far better than I expected them to be for something that will supposedly last 25 years. Sounds crazy I know, but it's true. However, if you're not sure if you will like them or not, I would suggest buying the single serving size pouches (also available on Amazon) and trying them out. That's what I did, and was not disappointed. Flavors are pretty good overall, I particularly like the beef stroganoff. It actually has a nice sour-creamy flavor, and the noodles and beef chunks are very flavorful. I'm not saying it's "just like Mom used to make", but after working a long shift, I'm more than happy to break one of these out and eat it.

Some textures may not be appealing to some people. I kind of had a problem with the eggs, but I got over it. They just seemed...wrong(?), somehow. Also, it is very important to use HOT water and let the meals sit for the required amount of time, or some bits may not fully rehydrate and still have a "spongy" texture. I guarantee, if you use cold or lukewarm water, you will be cursing me forever for recommending this stuff to you. Please don't do that! ZombieChef wants to help you!

I can highly recommend these to anyone who is looking for food for backpacking, camping, or to have in your home, car, or Bug-Out Bag in case of floods, hurricanes or the Zombie Apocalypse. My personal favorites are: Beef Stew, Beef Stroganoff, and Chicken and Noodles. Oh, and one more thing, try to save room for dessert!

I do have one small issue with this product but it is a very tiny one. Read on to find out about that because I want to list the PROS of these strawberries first.

Since buying these, we have ordered several more for storage in case of an emergency. We went through the first container and tested it two ways:

1. Eating it dry and straight from the container

2. Adding water so that the strawberries were closer in taste and texture to real strawberries and could be mixed into oatmeal or as a topping on other products.

In both cases, these strawberries were very tasty and each serving has 60% of the daily value for Vitamin C (although I don't know if this is for someone needing 2000 calories a day or less; they don't provide that info). For anyone with health problems, these have no fat of any kind, avoiding any issues with saturated, trans fat and cholesterol. They do have 2 grams of fiber, not terribly significant as well as 6 grams of sugar (but actual strawberries have natural sugar, too)

They are so delicious that we found ourselves often reaching for a handful as a snack and our kids loved them, too. Because they are dried, they have a crunchy texture. If you have a finicky eater and wonder if he is getting enough nutrition, you might be lucky enough to find that these are accepted. If so, you can ditch much of the junk food and let them snack on these (although it would be expensive to use them as a main snack food).

If you plan to go camping, you get at least 16 servings per container, although serving size is rather small.

In an emergency, you'd either need bottled water or an excellent water filtration system but only IF you wanted a softer texture. They don't need to have water to be used as is. In an emergency, you could easily stretch these to more than 16 servings, especially if used to top oatmeal or dry cereal or if you added a sprinkling to dry cereal.

For camping, the container is VERY lightweight, easy to bring along. If you wanted to use these as a snack food while taking a short hike from you camping ground, they would be best in a bag. The container is too large to be reasonable in a backpack for a short hike or even an all day hike.

Since these are high in Vitamin C, they are a nice alternative to Vitamin C tablets. So you get the Vitamin C benefits of strawberries, significant per serving, after you've gone through any fruit you bought before camping or have at home when an emergency happens. In fact, I'd make a case for leaving fresh fruit at home when camping. Use this product instead.

They also work well when added to kids' lunches or when taken to work in a small container for an alternative to candy bars or chips in the snack machines.

Add water and you'll have a bit more bulk.

Now here is my only issue and it is a small one: Open the container and you are likely to find it is half full. The dried strawberries settle. This makes it look like they've shorted you. But we weighed and measured each portion and there were indeed 16 full portions inside.

Nutritional Content and Serving Size: 1/2 cup; Total Calories: 35; Vitamin C: 60% of daily requirements, From Fat: 0; Total Fat: 0 grams; Saturated Fat: 0 grams; Transfat Acid: 0 grams; Cholesterol: 0 milligrams; Sodium: 0 milligrams; Carbos: 10 grams; Dietary Fiber: 2 grams; Sugars: 6 grams; Protein: 0 grams

Ha! Yeah, how do they?

I actually like Mountain House's Freeze Dried Lasagna, I would have rated it 5 stars, except it isn't exactly lasagna. Its more like an "Italian Pasta and cheese stew". Its a bit messy, but really Darn Tasty! You get alot of Mini-Lasagna noodles in a sweet tomato sauce, with real cheese chunks. Trust me it tastes alot better than I made it sound! The Stuff in the #10 cans keep for about 35 years! And it doesn't get any easier to prepare, Add water, wait!

The Mountain House Beef Stew is excellent considering that it is vacuum packed in nitrogen and sealed in #10 cans with a shelf life of 30 years. Other reviewers have covered the outstanding taste and quality. I have another consideration.

Americans spend a fortune on home-owner's and auto insurance every year. Some more than others. However, when it comes to the basics necessary for survival, most pay little attention if any at all.

"WHY WORRY ABOUT FOOD, WATER, LIGHT AND HEAT INSURANCE?

THE GOVERNMENT WILL MAKE CERTAIN THAT ALL AMERICANS WILL

HAVE ADEQUATE FOOD, WATER, LIGHT AND HEAT, RIGHT?"

HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO GAMBLE ON THIS STATEMENT?

Unlike other types of insurance, the money spent insuring an adequate food supply will not be lost. Ten years from now, considering inflation, freeze-dried food purchased in 2011 can be enjoyed at a fraction of the cost that you'd pay at a grocery store in 2021. So, even if an emergency situation never happens, you are still saving money. This can't be said for money spent on homeowner's and auto insurance.

For an extensive menu of available freeze-dried foods, you might also search Saratoga Farms, Emergency Essentials and Provident Pantry.

Don't get caught with your pantry down.

Barbara's Bakery Puffins Cereal, Honey Rice, 10-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

Barbara's Bakery Puffins Cereal, Honey Rice, 10-Ounce BoxesBeing allergic to corn REALLY sucks because there are not that many cereals that don't contain corn in them (heck even plain ol Rice Krispies do... didn't know that did you?). So I am very glad to see Barbara's Bakery able to fulfill this need.

The Honey Rice Puffins maintain that perfect balance of being sweet, but not too sweet. Far too many sweetened cereals just go overboard in making them so saccharine it's inedible.

They stay very crunchy in milk. My preferred method is to have them with some plain greek yogurt, great breakfast or mid morning snack for me.

With a solid 3 grams of fiber, 1 gram of fat and only 120 calories per serving, they fit perfectly well in my diet.

Tons of crunch, sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, and healthy, can't get much better then this!

Pros:

Corn free and gluten free (less then 20ppm)!

Actually has some fiber in it.

Stays crunchy.

Cons:

Kinda pricy, but that's expected.

I buy this product because I am allergic to wheat and corn. It's near impossible to find good tasting cereals without those ingredients. I wish they made other flavors with the same ingredients. I'd like to have a peanut butter flavored cereal!

This cereal is really good, however as I was eating it, I had an odd taste in my mouth. But I couldn't really tell what it was from. Vanilla maybe? Anyway, you get used to it after a while and it very good, I mean, the taste isn't bad or anything..just strange. Well, very crunchy and yum! A bit pricey, but what do you expect? All gluten free food is usually expensive because of the non-gluten ingredients they have to use. Well, VERY GOOD CEREAL! Keep up the good work Babara, I would Love it if you could make some more gluten free cereals, maybe something with chocolate or cinnamon.

Think Thin Bar, 2.1 Ounce (10 Pack)

thinkThin Chunky Peanut Butter, Gluten Free, 2.1-Ounce BarsA year ago, I commited myself to losing weight. I discovered these bars at Costco (unfortunately, they no longer carry them). I eat one for breakfast every day. I also bring a bunch with me when I am travelling so I don't have to eat junk food on airplanes etc. These are so filling and so large compared to other bars. I love that they are also gluten-free. They do taste like a candy bar that's the best part! I don't feel like I am dieting. This is my favorite flavor, although I also eat the Brownie Crunch to mix it up. You will not be disappointed! I've gotten many friends and coworkers to eat these too. Everyone loves them!

This is one of the best tasting protein bars in existence, I kid you not.

The interior is fluffy, practically like the inside of one of those peanut butter easter eggs. The chocolate coating is just ok, and tends to melt in anything other than cool temperatures.

The downer is that the main sweetener is malitol, which causes seriously stinky gas if you are sensitive to it. It IS a natural sweetener, but that doesn't mean it's all good....

Buy Think Thin Bar, 2.1 Ounce (10 Pack) Now

Though it's now out of vogue, I'm still a fan of a healthy version of the low carb Atkins style diet. This is the perfect meal bar for that diet (probably great for South Beach, too). It is delicious, the peanut butter is creamy, and the chocolate on the outside is superb. I've used the Atkins bars for years, and they taste of chemicals and artificial sweetners. These Think Think bars, though, are practically candy bars. They have low net carbs (2 for this version, I think). Even when I'm not dieting, I still love this bar. It isn't a large, filling bar, and I can't really eat one to replace a meal, but if you're looking for a snack to cut between meals, or just a desert to eat with a nice cup of coffee at night, this is the bar for you.

This price on Amazon can't be beat, either. I pay about $1.7 per bar at Trader Joes, 2.20 a bar at the local megamart (when they have them in stock), and only about a buck fifty here on Amazon. Great deal. I was kind of sketchy ordering food online (though I order everything eles online), but Amazon grocery proved me wrong. Give 'em a try.

The White Chocolate is the most moist and best tasting flavor (in mine and my husbands opinion at least) and I will only be ordering this flavor for now on. I have Celiac Disease and I'm a Type 1 diabetic and also a model and a Las vegas Showgirl so I have to eat healthy, stay fit and look great and these bars are the best for helping at least me, do just that. They are Gluten free which is the best thing and absolutely balanced. My husband who is a very picky doctor who likes these over his past favorite Zone bars. Thank you Think products for making these bars!

Want Think Thin Bar, 2.1 Ounce (10 Pack) Discount?

I loved the taste of these, which is what earned it the high marks (dark chocolate was by far the best, although I've tried some other flavors and enjoyed them somewhat, with the exception of white chocolate). They're a great snack, rather filling and high in protein, although they're a bit smaller than what I'd like. Nevertheless, I wish they didn't advertise its health benefits so much and so deceptively--maltitol also increases blood glucose and is somewhat absorbed, so it is not really a free carbohydrate. "Sugar-free" is just confusing. They should consider sweetening it with sucralose and stop making a big deal about its "natural" qualities--who here thinks that packaged snack bars with a dozen ingredients are "natural" anyway? At the end of the day, I can occasionally tolerate their high price and their ridiculous claims because it just tastes good.
