Vigilant Eats - Organic Superfood Oat-Based Cereal

Vigilant Eats - Organic Superfood Oat-Based Cereal - 12/3 oz ContainersI absolutely love this. I am gluten intolerant and was struggling to find things that I found both tasty and filling. I went to a nutritionist and she recommended this product for breakfast. It is delicious and leaves me full until lunch. I definitely recommend it!

This should be in your earthquake/emergency kit. I eat all of mine and have to re-order for my kit. You can add water, stir and it tastes great seriously. I prefer to add hot almond milk when I have access to some type of stove to heat the almond milk, but in a pinch not needed. This will fill you up and be a healthy option, good for your body. I highly recommend it.

This stuff is amazing. I always keep at least a week's worth of containers in my desk at work. They are ready in a minute, organic, packed full of antioxidants, low-glycemic and gluten-free! I usually add hot water to mine, so it's more like oatmeal, but you can make it with cold water too. Super convenient, delicious and good for you. What more could you want?

My son sent these to me and I tried all four flavors they are all delicious and I highly recommend them all! My personal favorite is the Coconut. It containes large chunkes of wonderful chemical free coconut. It is a relatively small container compared to most American sized portions but it is extremely filling and it really is all you need for a fulfilling meal. I am back to order more of all flavors to stock of for quick healthy breakfasts before work. I may even throw a few in my emergency food pack but they may not stay in there very long. :-)

This product should only be considered healthy if you normally eat coco pops and fruit loops for breakfast. There are fifteen grams of sugar in here. It is from natural sources and low glycemic but glucose is glucose and, 15 grams of sugar is never "healthy". Add that to 9 grams of fat, 310 calories, and 51 grams of carbohydrate. Though 10 grams of protein is pretty good.

As a comparison-one whole cup of rolled oats is 150 calories, 2.40 grams of fat, just 25 grams of carbohydrate and a not too shabby 6 grams of protein. Add nuts and berries and it's delish.

This is not a competitive replacement for breakfast. Not health wise, and not price wise. Taste wise it is too sweet for me as I normally do not have sugar with grains/oats.

UPDATE******

The above review was for the Maca Double Chocolate, not the Original flavor which is much better comparatively. It seems no matter what flavor you review they show up all together.

So, there are four flavors and they vary.

Here are the sugar quantities for each:

ORIGINAL GOJI CACAO 6 grams

COCONUT MAPLE VANILLA 21 grams (more than three times the Original)

ESPRESSO MACA MULBERRY 12 grams (double the Original)

MACA DOUBLE CHOCOLATE 15 grams (...)
