Every year our family goes Montmorency cherry picking and we freeze pounds and pounds of cherries to make pies all year long. We are big cherry pie lovers! So when I saw these bags of dried Montmorency cherries in the store I simply had to try them. Once I tasted them I was hooked. Touted for their antioxidant properties these sour cherries are a wonderful snack excuse. It is quite easy to go overboard eating these delicious cherries, I can eat them by the handfuls! They are excellent mixed into yogurt and in homemade trail mix too. I was very disappointed when I received the dried cherries. I did not realize that they included sugar and sunflower oil. When I opened the package you could feel the oil on the cherries. I had to rinse them in hot water before I could use them. This information is not included anywhere in the description. I've never been a big fan of dried fruit -good for you or not, they are just too sweet for me. But these montmorency cherries are wonderful. It's the right mix of sweetness with tartness. I LOVE to eat these straight out of the bag.Stoneridge Orchards Whole Dried Tart Montmorency Cherries, 20-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 2)

I've been buying these cherries for years, and they used to be absolutely wonderful. They had just the right amount of tartness, not too much sweetness, etc. I don't know what they've done (I even tried to contact the company regarding my complaint they didn't respond), but they are now really bad. They are overly sweet, and taste like the cherries are "bad". I even tried buying the cherries at two different places, same result, terrible. I won't be buying these again. They sounded good, but aren't tart enough for my taste and are prepared with too much sugar.
