Quaker Instant Oats, Maple Brown Sugar

Quaker Instant Oatmeal Maple Brown Sugar, 10-Count BoxesI love oatmeal, and occasionally make steel-cut oatmeal in my ricemaker, but I've been eating more Quaker Oats Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal for years. Pallets of it. Literally, I had bought lots of "value pack" 24-packs the last time they went on sale at Shop Rite, and when I finally ran out, a couple months ago, I bought the "new" improved package at Stop & Shop.

The new flavor is horrible not just compared to the original, or to McCanns, but truly horrible. I couldn't finish it. Tasted a little like coffee grounds. Even adding brown sugar or a little milk didn't change it at all.

How could you screw up a decades old favorite like that? Why not offer it as a new product, and leave your loyal customer's with their proven favorites? (Why didn't Coca-Cola just release "New Coke" in the '80s, instead of screwing up their brand loyalty? And why didn't Quaker learn from Coke?)

Since then, I've been buying the Stop & Shop brand, and it's not bad. Not as good as the original Quaker Oats Maple & Brown Sugar, but good enough. Quaker has effectively removed themselves from the instant oatmeal market, in my opinion. Hope they correct their mistake, but I don't think that happens very often. I'll be waiting for one of those "We heard you, and we're making it right" commercials... Until then, it's store-brand oats for me.

I used to eat this almost every morning. Now it says new great taste but its horrible not even extra brown sugar helps. Change it back please!!!

The sugar police strike again and ruin a oatmeal taste that was always selling out in my local supermarket... Now the huge flakes and horrid taste has made me an ex-Quaker consumer. There are plenty of choices out there for low sugar oatmeals why screw around with this classic, or why not just make another version and leave this one alone?

Horrible

My kids used to LOVE Quaker Instant Oatmeal. It was a quick way to get them a hot breakfast on a busy morning and still get them to school on time. They started refusing to eat it, and would leave their bowls mostly full and uneaten. They said it tasted "funny". I tried a bite, and sure enough. I thought it had spoiled, so threw out the whole box, and bought a "fresh" box next time I was at the store. Nope, the flavor was terrible in the new box as well. Bad, bad move, Quaker. Go back to the old flavor formulas before you lose this line of business altogether.

I thought it was just me, but now I see that I'm not the only one who hates the new version. The original recipe had such a delicious aroma, this one smells and tastes artificial. I have to resort to adding my own brown sugar and maple syrup, but it's still not right. I will be trying another brand McCann's Maple & Brown Sugar as someone suggested. Bad move Quaker Oats.

Met-Rx Pancake Mix

MET-Rx Protein Plus High Protein Pancake Mix - 2 Pound"And God gave man this ineffable substance from His own tentacle so that delicious nourishment could be had whilst remaining lean. Amen."

Ok, onto the actual review. This pancake mix was sitting on my shelf for probably a year before my pancake craving got so bad that I tried something which I felt reasonably sure would be awful. It wasn't!

In fact, it was great. I've been eating pancakes about every other day since first trying it. However, I use organic skim milk instead of water to mix with the powder. Usually throw in a handful of frozen blueberries too. It tastes almost exactly like any buttermilk pancake you would get at a restaurant or make at home (sometimes far better), and since it's good for you there's no diet-cheating guilt. Just tasty high protein pancakes.

MetRX MET=Rx Protein Plus High Protein Pancake Mix is highly recommended for simply getting in shape, body building, or just making yummy, unbelievably easy pancakes. 5 stars! I've already lost a few pounds in the three weeks since discovering the awesomeness patiently lurking in my supplement closet.

Tastes a little different from standard pancake mix (more malty?). I love it with peanut butter and blackberry jam.

I typically eat eggs, or protein shakes for breakfast and was thrilled to see this product for sale. The tast is excellent and almost has a cinnamon flavoring which I like, plus all the protein I need to keep me full. If i one serving for breakfast (typically 2/3 pancakes) I am full until lunch. The can of mix is kind of small though so for someone eating these a couple times a week it might get expensive.

Well I wasnt expecting much, but I was pleasantly suprised. The mix smells like vanilla protein powder, but is the fine consistency of bisqucik. I tried the pancakes comepletely plain, no butter or syrup.. and it was pretty good. Not amazing, but pretty good.

Klein's Naturals Dried Cherries, 5-Ounce (Pack of 6)

Klein's Naturals Dried Cherries, 5-OunceWow, did we luck out. I tried the Klein's cherries hoping they would be good and they are DELICIOUS. So flavorful and NO SUGAR!! Just cherries. Love them....

I put these in my steel cut oatmeal, make a week's batch and I'm ready for the week. Of course, I have to hide the containers or someone else snacks on them! Very convenient packaging, great taste, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them.

I have found the "hard-to-find/next-to-impossible-to-find" dried cherries (NO SUGAR added)!

I am fully satisfied with this purchase and have just returned to Amazon to make my second purchase of Klein's Dried Cherries.

The cherries were delicious and tasted no different then the one's with oil added. I'm glad I made the purchase and will purchase more in the future as I especially liked the individual containers I could throw into a purse or backpack for an on the go snack.

It is hard to find dried tart cherries that don't have a lot of added junk especially sugar. I picked these up because they do not have sugar added. They do have sulfur dioxide added as a preservative, but that is all. These are great tasting! The cherries are not hard and dry but softer and chewy. They have a great flavor. I happen to like sour things but my wife not so much. These cherries are sour enough for me but sweet enough for her so they meet both our requirements. Besides just eating out of your hand, they are good in cookies and other baking where you can substitute these cherries in place of raisins.

Nature's Path Organic Frosted Toaster Pastries Brown Sugar Maple Cinnamon -- 11 oz

Nature's Path Organic Frosted Toaster Pastries Brown Sugar Maple Cinnamon -- 11 ozThey taste great. I prefer the Cherry Pomegranate, but my wife loves these. The thing is, remember that Organic doesn't mean healthy. They are a great, sweet snack, but they shouldn't replace a meal. Made with real butter and sugar still means lots of fat and empty calories. So enjoy, just know you're eating a treat and not a healthy meal replacement pastry (if one even exists.)

Arrowhead Mills Whole Grain Puffed Millet Cereal, 6-Ounce Bags (Pack of 12)

Arrowhead Mills Whole Grain Puffed Millet Cereal, 6-Ounce BagsAccording to the hype on the bag as well as the nutrition information, this whole grain is quite healthy. I've been eating it for breakfast almost every day for several months, and it seems to get me off to a good start. Since the millet itself doesn't have much flavor, I fill a large bowl with 95% millet, and 5% granola sprinkled on top (plus some ground flax seed); I then add milk. I get granola with each bite, and it makes the whole bowl really quite tasty, without being overwhelmingly sweet.

It's cheap, healthy and filling. Just make sure you have plenty of pantry space, as you get twelve large bags with this order.

Arrowhead produces several puffed cereals but this is my favorite. First off, it doesn't get soggy. You can take several phone calls or even a shower and come back and find this stuff is still holding up to the milk. And because the kernels are small it's ideal for someone like me with jaw problems. The flavor is similar to popcorn, just milder. Only downside is that occasionally you'll get a bag where they haven't done such a good job of eliminating the hulls...bothersome buggers that have a tendency to cling to your gums etc. I start every day with a bowl.

Buy Arrowhead Mills Whole Grain Puffed Millet Cereal, 6-Ounce Bags (Pack of 12) Now

I actually like this cereal more than the [N ..] organic brand because it is easier on my stomachnot sure why since this does not seem to be organic. However, note that this brand has a LOT of hulls which can spread and float around when you first open the bag. So beware and brush your teeth if you have anywhere special to go after consuming this. They will get stuck in your teeth.

You might also want to keep tabs on this product's price which seems to fluctuate significantly. Right now, it is over $31 WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for puffs, especially considering this is not organic.

Caza Trail Single Serve Cup for Keurig K-Cup Brewers, 50 Count

Caza Trail Donut Shop Blend, 50-Count Single Serve Cup for Keurig K-Cup BrewersPlease read edit below...

After reading all the reviews about problems with these K-Cups I was a little worried but, the price pulled me in to try them.

None of the problems (25 cups down 25 to go), others are reporting. Full size Keurig machine at home and small unit at work.

Coffee is a bit strong for the wife but I like it just fine. She uses the large cup setting now and likes it.

Nothing in bottom of cup when finished at all. Maybe they fixed the problem?

---Edit 03/09/13: Three boxes later I have experienced the problems others are having... But, I figured out the problem (at least mine). The coffee in some of the containers is packed too tight.

If shake one to loosen up the coffee before I place in the maker they work fine.

I dissected one to take a look. The coffee seems to be ground just a bit finer than other K-cups that I compared it to.

Fine coffee packed tight at bottom of K-cup equals coffee and grinds overflowing out of top of K-cup. Water can't flow through so it takes the path of least resistance. In this case, the top of the cup.

Shake till you feel all the coffee freed up in the K-cup and you will be good to go!

I have tried many different k-cup coffee versions, without problems. This Caza Trail k-cup does not work at all in my full-size Keurig maker. I have tried to brew a grounds-free cup of coffee at least a dozen times with this brand, and I have yet to succeed. This manufacturer used inferior materials to make this pod, so that the water doesn't flow properly. Consequently, it fills up with water and never completely brews a full cup of coffee. Sometimes the water leaks around the sides and out making a mess. My Keurig maker actually freezes up on "Brewing" because the pod holds the water and the water has no place to go. I try straining the cup into another mug, but the taste is nothing like the Kona coffee of another maker or purchased elsewhere. I purchased a 50-count box, so I didn't want to throw them away, but I give up on this brand.

Disappointing purchase and a waste of money. Try something else.

I've had my machine for well over two years and I have never had a K-Cup consistently leak grounds into my coffee. I even used a piece of aluminum foil over the tops to decrease the amount of grounds into my coffee... Guess what? It worked! I was excited to get a K-Cup 'type' product for a good price, but with grounds everywhere... I will not be ordering again.

Caza Kona blend coffee K cups are of inferior quality. When brewing, they come apart and coffee grounds get into the coffee.I would not recommend this product.

These cups are poorly made. 9 out of 10 cups produced coffee with a significant amount of grounds in my cup. I don't mind a few grounds, but this was way too much floating in my cup. The flavor was average, you get what you pay for I guess.

Two Moms in the Raw Goji Berry Granola Gluten Free, 8-Ounce

Two Moms in the Raw Goji Berry Granola Gluten Free, 8-OunceVery filling snack. Great if you are on a special diet, or just want to eat healthy. My whole family loves them (including two kids under 4). They are a little expensive, but considering the ingredient list, I think the price is justified. Would recommend them highly.

I love this with almond milk and fresh fruit in a bowl for breakfast. This was the first item that got me hooked with all their other products. Great for carrying on business trips especially since its hard to find good quality vegetarian, vegan and raw vegan food.

It's sweet because of the fruit and agave, yummy!

I make my own in large batches and yes these are high quality non-animal based ingredients....can't really compare that to animal based products... I supplement good quality products such as these with what I create and prepare at home.

I first purchased this product in a coffee shop and it was delicious. Like a granola bar, but hearty. I order in bulk from amazon, and the bars seemed a bit stale. They were not expired, but tasted less fresh and harder than the original I purchased in the store. Love the product, though.

I love these. Too bad they are never in stock, I would probably eat these daily. The flavor and texture are excellent and after eating them I don't have that gross too full feeling that other bars give me. This product comes in a box and the bars are not individually wrapped (this was a surprise to me).

Pero Instant Natural Beverage, 7-Ounce Canisters (Pack of 6)

Pero Instant Natural Beverage, 7-Ounce CanistersI recently gave up coffee and decided to try three different coffee substitutes: Roastaroma, Cafix, and Pero. Although Cafix tasted the most like real coffee (and it tastes *a lot* like real coffee), and all three products are pretty good, Roastaroma was my favorite.

It is very similar to coffee, but it doesn't quite have the bitter bite of coffee. Those of you who are looking for that slight bitterness might prefer Cafix. Roastaroma actually reminds me a little bit of Mexican hot chocolate--the cinnamon and carob flavors come through pretty strongly in the drink, giving it a cinnamon-chocolatey flavor. I used to drink coffee to satisfy my sweet tooth on low calories. This drink totally fits the bill for this purpose.

The Pero is pretty good, too. Like Roastaroma, it doesn't have the bitter coffee taste, but it still makes for a decent imitation of decaf. I like to drink it with cinnamon-flavored powdered creamer. Pero's a good value, too: it's strong enough that you don't need to use very much to flavor your whole drink. I drink the Pero when I'm trying to ration the Roastaroma out to myself so as not to run out.

So Roastaroma has the best flavor, Cafix tastes the most like coffee, and Pero is a good back-up.

A quick note on Postum: I do not care for it. I find that people who like Postum tend to be people who were never coffee drinkers. It tastes nothing like coffee. If you try Postum as a coffee substitute, you will be disappointed.

I was a caffeine addict until it started to affect my health. By the doctor's orders, I backed off the caffeine. I went onto Amazon looking for decaf coffee, and I found Pero. WHAT A GREAT FIND!!! I now have several cups per day, but I don't feel guilty about it. It has 3 ingredients--barley, malted barley, and chicory. Maybe I am hooked on the chicory. Is that possible? I doubt it. Anyway, I swear this stuff tastes more like coffee every time I drink it. I have been tempted to play a practical joke with people at work by asking them to try my new "coffee". I'll bet I could fool many of them. I love Pero so much that I actually gave some to my Mom along with her chocolates for Mother's Day. Love live Pero!

When Kraft quit making Postum we had to find an alternative it was already an alternative to coffee, so this would be plan C. We explored every avenue we could find in our small town at all the local stores and on the internet. We found Pero on line and decided to stick our necks out to try a case of it. We have not been disappointed. We like it better than coffee. It is smooth with no bitterness. It mixes well with hot chocolate and tastes good straight and black if that's what you want. We will be buying more of it and some friends will be doing the same after they tasted it.

Read Best Reviews of Pero Instant Natural Beverage, 7-Ounce Canisters (Pack of 6) Here

Pero is a real good coffee substitute it does "foam" up (like hot cocoa) though. It is more of a "mellowed" taste of coffee, which is still quite good like you may have added just a touch of flavoring. Cafix has more of a straight coffee taste. But I like both and alternate between the two, depending on my mood.

Want Pero Instant Natural Beverage, 7-Ounce Canisters (Pack of 6) Discount?

My husband drank Pero when he lived in Argentina, loved it, and has been frustrated because it's been hard to find. He gave some to a friend who was trying to quit drinking coffee and get rid of caffeinne in her diet. She loved it too, and then found your site offering whole cases of it! We immediately ordered a case ourselves. We've shared our Pero with others who want a good-tasting, caffeine-free hot drink, and it's been welcomed enthusiastically. Thanks for a great service. Thanks for making a great healthy breakfast drink so easy to get.

Oatrageous Oats Apple Raisin Walnut Granola, 12 Oz. BagA completely different take on granola chewy, crunchy clusters with bold flavors. Bob's Red Mill Peppy Kernels Whole Grain Cereal -- 18 ozI mean, who doesn't get a kick out of the name, "Peppy Kernels"? LOL! That alone, plus the fact that they're made by Bob's Red Mill, made me want to try them. Well, as with all of Bob's products we've purchased, this one doesn't disappoint. We're a family of cooked cereal eaters. It's easy to fall into a ho-hum rut, but this is a great tasting product that differs in texture and flavor from "regular" cooked cereals. It's well worth the risk to try it for yourself or your family.

Sheffa Savory Bar, Sesame, 1.27-Ounce (Pack of 12)

Sheffa Savory Bar, Sesame, 1.27-OunceI first got one of these at a local health food store and liked them so much I wanted to stock up to have more on hand so I bought a pack of 12 online. They are a crunchy, natural snack for when I need a little something between meals. They have a little herbal/healthy taste.....which is good, but at first unexpected.

Kashi TLC Crackers

Kashi TLC Crackers, Fire Roasted Vegetable, 9-Ounce BoxesThese crackers are great tasting. I recently ordered a case of tweleve to use at home. However, Amazon sent me a case of twelve which expire in one month. I buy things from Amazon to stock up. I don't think a month is enough time to eat twelve boxes of crackers. Amazon needs to rotate their products instead of selling items that are almost expired.

I used to love these crackers, but they have recently reformulated them. Now they're awful... like a Wheat Thin knockoff, but not even as good as Wheat Thins. Why do they mess with something that works?? I complained to the company, and was told, "As you might imagine, we conduct extensive consumer tests to determine consumer acceptance before introducing a food into the national market. Reformulated products are of special concern to us, so we use panels of regular product users across the country to ensure acceptability. Tests on this reformulated product showed that most consumers preferred the new product to the old. However, we realize that taste preferences do differ and can certainly understand your feelings."

Yeah, I am sure that Coca-Cola conducted extensive consumer tests of New Coke, too.

Look, you might like this cracker. But if you liked the previous formulation, don't expect anything at all similar. And if you don't like it, please complain to the company. Maybe they'll bring out a 7-grain "Classic" cracker. :-)

These crackers are simple in comparison to my favorite, the Honey Sesame variety. The 7 grains may overpower subtle toppings, but they work well with stronger cheeses, olives, and other toppings that hold their own. I usually eat these crackers plain as a snack along with something to drink, though they also work well for hors d'ouvres.

Be sure to have something to drink along with these slightly sweet, particularly crunchy crackers. The texture is rich with the variety of several grains, and the flavor is a delightful combination of the grains and a touch of honey. These are my favorite TLC crackers, but I switch out with the other varieties regularly.

Ever try the goldfish crackers? They taste as much like the box as they do cheese. The TLC Country Cheddar crackers are far superior. They taste of cheddar and the texture balances smooth with crunchy, and savor for a few seconds to soften and get the cheddar flavor. It's not too sharp or too mild just right. My favorite TLC cracker is Honey Sesame, but I eat the other varieties regularly to keep things interesting.
