Maxwell House Cafe Coffee Pods

Maxwell House Cafe House Blend Coffee Pods, 18 CountI was really excited when I heard Maxwell House was finally selling coffee for Keurig brewers. Before my Keurig days I drank nothing but Maxwell House. Than I saw the asking price compared to other K-cups. I guess they are hoping folks will just "brand shop" and not pay attention to the price per cup.

Having had surprisingly good experiences with Maxwell House coffee in restaurants (i.e. it was so tasty I had to ask what it was), I figured I'd give these a whirl, especially after reading the few reviews there were.

My verdict: Underwhelming.

Flavor:

If you like robust, full-bodied coffee that actually tastes like coffee, and not coffee-ish water, this isn't for you. It's not awful, just not what I was hoping for.

Price:

I paid $19.99 for 18 cups, expecting something really good. It's not worth the money paid. I shan't buy more. I get better (and more) coffee at the Keurig site. 24 cup packages go for $14.02.

Product:

So far, three out of the last 12 cups we've drunk were defective the machine would not/could not puncture a hole in the bottom of the cup.

So...save your money.

I just bought a 12 cup box at the market this weekend for $6.99! This is price is insane!! How can they even hope to compete in the K-Cup market like this? House Blend was good, but Nantucket Blend is much better for HALF the price!

PowerBar Pure and Simple Energy Bars, 1.23-Ounce Bars (Pack of 15)

PowerBar Harvest Energy, Pure and Simple Energy Bars, Roasted Peanut Butter, 1.23-Ounce BarsI really like the taste. It seems to give me energy and fuel to burn. I just wish it packed more of a punch. But overall I recommend!

These bars are really good. Not too bad for you, great taste, texture is nice and chewy. Flavor is delicious, peanut butter, YUM. And yes they give you a good burst of energy.

A huge part of my diet consists of eating bars; with 3 kids and running a few businesses, I have time issues. Until recently, I would grab a bar in between meals. Not too long ago, bars took on a whole new meaning in my life when I tried the "Cookie Diet."

For a couple of weeks, I was buying the cookies from "my Center". One day, out of curiosity I decided to take the ingredients of the diet cookie I was eating to the local Sprouts to see if there was a bar that had the same makeup. This was when I discovered the PowerBar Pure and Simple Roasted Peanut Butter bar. This bar was a true find: (1) the nutritional value matched the cookie almost exactly; (2) the bar was so much cheaper; and (3) the bar was so much better tasting than the cookie.

The Bar is light and tasty. I agree with the reviewer that said they need more flavors; I am not a fan of the Cranberry Oatmeal.

Not going to satisfy you like one of the more caloric bars but is great at taking care of you until your next meal.

Great; price,taste,and fast S/h..

Pros: price, taste, size, and nutrients you need pure day.

cons: needs more flavors for pure and simple.

It's unfortunate that energy bars are shrinking, you have to eat two to feel like you ate anything. This one wasn't that impressive. Tasted to me like oats and raisins with side of peanut flavor. High carb and not that high of content of anything good..basically a glorified, healthier granola bar. Not worth the price in my opinion and I won't be repurchasing. I've had much better.

Nature's Path Organic Granola Bars, Peanut Choco', 5-Count Boxes (Pack of 6)

Nature's Path Organic Granola Bars, Peanut Choco', 5-Count BoxesI love this bar and that is probably because I love any treat that combines peanuts and chocolate. I don't consider this a health bar. This has a good amount of sugar and a good amount of fat. I eat them because they are a great cheat treat. When I eat well all day, I look forward to this soft but chewy bar that has real peanuts and what seems to be real chocolate (I detest bars that proclaim to have real chocolate but instead incorporate a fake chocolaty substance).

What I like about this bar:

1) The taste Wow! For a granola bar the taste is phenomenal. The picture on the box does not lie. You can see peanuts and oats and the chocolate topping tastes awesome. The texture of the oats/nuts melds well with the oats and nuts.

2) Portable and easy to pack If you try to stay aware of your daily calorie intake, it is always great to have easy to carry snacks with their calories clearly labeled. Who has time to count out the exact number of pretzels that comprise 150 calories? That is part of the appeal of a granola bar. You've got a 150 calorie food item that can be placed in a purse or coat pocket and you are out the door.

3) The company has made a conscious effort to reduce packaging in order to reduce impact on the environment. The box is made of 100% recycled materials.

What is questionable about this bar:

1) This is a snack/treat bar and nothing else This is not a healthful nutrition bar. The product packaging does not necessarily say this is healthful. It does use the words "organic goodness" and boasts "9 grams of whole grains". These notations may make some think this is a really healthy treat. But it's not. The bar has low fiber (2g) and pretty high sugar for a 150 calorie bar (11 grams).

2)If you use snacks to hold you over, you probably should find a snack with at least 4 grams of fiber. The 2 gram bar is not going to tide you over very long.

If you feed these to your kids, there is a good likelihood they will like them. They are pretty sweet. But again with the sugar, what else are you giving your kids during the day? Four grams of sugar is equivalent to 1 teaspoon of sugar. So you have about 2 and 3/4 teaspoons in this bar. With everything else your kids consume during the day, (chocolate milk? orange juice? sandwich with jam?), the sugar in this bar may not be worth it to you. Kids usually need 1200 to 1700 calories a day. While there is no prescribed amount of sugar for a kid during the day, I have read that the calories from added sugar should be limited to 10% which, on the low end, would translate to 7 teaspoons of sugar and 11 teaspoons on the high end.

Summary:

Nature's Path has created a very tasty granola bar with quality ingredients. Props to the company for not saying this was a health or nutrition bar on the box. I am reviewing this as a treat bar and as a treat, it is a delicious option. If it were being reviewed for health, I would not be able to give it four stars as it has high sugar, high fat and low fiber. Don't expect it to hold you over for hours but do expect it to satisfy your sweet tooth.

These granola bars are made in the United States.

I ordered these in bulk as I've purchased them locally. Everywhere I have had them they have been so fresh they "almost" fall apart. The ones I ordered here through Amazon came STALE and because of that have a poor taste and are hard to chew. Very disappointed as they are expensive!

If your idea of a bar is something sweet and mushy, then go for it. The peanuts and chocolate make a very small fraction of the bar. The rest is just mush. There is no crunch.

These organic bars are delicious! Very subtle peanut butter taste that combines very well with the chocolate.

Arrowhead Mills Organic Yellow Corn Grits, 24-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)

Arrowhead Mills Organic Yellow Corn Grits, 24-Ounce BoxesYellow grits have not been available in our local supermarkets for quite some time, so when I needed some to make my new favorite, Zea's Corn Grits, I searched online. The first brand that I tried made much of being "stone ground", but the texture when cooked was too coarse for the dish. These Arrowhead Mills Organic Yellow Corn Grits were my second purchase, and they have the perfect texture. They cook quickly and are full of good corn flavor. Highly recommended.

I am from the South and yes, I've eaten a lot of grits in my life. Except for most of it I ate traditional white style. Until I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, I had to find a gluten-free version of grits that were 'safe' for me to consume. Thankfully I found Arrowhead Mills. I have eaten a bowl of Arrowhead Mills Yellow Grits nearly every day for several years now. They are without a doubt the best-tasting grits I've ever had. They are creamy and flavorful in comparision with white, and they are better tasting than some other organic brands I had to try when the store ran out of AM. They are also consistently produced and I've never had any issues with them. If you haven't tried grits before, or yellow you really are missing out!

I have been trying to find a good source for yellow grits, which I consider to be much more flavorful than white, for some time. I tried the Arrowhead Mills Yellow Organic Grits. They are quite good. Creamy, excellent flavor among the best I have found in yellow grits. I'm a Southerner and heartily recommend this product.

The dry product is extremely fine, almost powdery. The cooked product is mushy and doesn't even taste like grits to me. I like the coarse stone ground grits which haven't been de-germed. Regular white grits from the grocery store is preferable to this product. I will donate the three unopened boxes to our local food bank.

Good quality productmedium grain, cook quickly & taste great. Very good value versus buying single packages in the grocery store which even here in the South most often carry instant grits (Yuck!)

Cook 'em, add Cheddar & heavy cream with a dash of Tabasco sauce & top with sauteed shrimp for a quick & very tasty meal anytime.

Oh yeah they're good at breakfast too!

Nature's Path Organic Instant Hot Oatmeal Pouch Original, 14-Ounce Box (Pack of 6)

Nature's Path Organic Instant Hot Oatmeal Pouch Original, 14-Ounce BoxI have been eating Nature's Path Original oatmeal for two years. It's become one of my standard breakfast foods. I especially love the fact that it does not have anything added, so I can add my own ingredients, like Vegan protein powder (to make "protmeal") or dried berries. Unfortunately, the last box I purchased is WAY TOO SALTY!! I don't like a lot of salt in the first place. It definitely does not mix well with the protein powder or dried berries. The packaging recently changed on this product and apparently so did the salt content, despite the fact the Ingredients stayed the same and the Nutrition Facts changed -the Sodium count actually went down! Either Nature's Path needs to reduce the amount of salt or I will have to find another plain oatmeal to eat.

Excellent oatmeal. Great as a base for adding honey, dried fruits, and nuts. My favorite oatmeal ever. Very satisfying. Boil water in kettle, add half a cup or more of the boiling water, stir, and let sit for four or five minutes. Delicious! It keeps you full all morning long. I like that it is organic, steel cut oats and bran, and it has no additives, colorings, or preservatives.

This oatmeal is too salty and my husband cannot eat it. I have even tried to mix it with other oatmeal and he still cannot eat it. I am very disappointed in this product since I have ordered it numerous times and the last two times I have ordered it, it has been too salty. My husband used to enjoy this oatmeal but not now. He has oatmeal every day and this will not be his brand of choice any more!

I'm not a big fan of instant oatmeal but this oatmeal is the exception. It has a good taste. I also like the fact that it is not sweetened like most instant oatmeal.

There must be something wrong with these. The nutrition facts say there is only 120 mg of sodium, but I just threw out what I had left, couldn't eat it anymore. I can't really describe how salty this is, but it is really like someone dumped a entire shaker in each bowl. Real Bad. Whole Foods 365 brand is the way to go. Same price, no salty taste.

Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookie Caramel Apple, 3-Ounce Individually Wrapped Cookies (Pack of 12)

Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookie Caramel Apple, 3-Ounce Individually Wrapped CookiesThis is one of my favorite in the Erin Baker line of Breakfast cookies, the cookie has an oatmeal base but is not a "heavy" cookie. It is nice and moist and has little pieces of caramel in the cookie. I like the fact that the cookie packs a lot in a little package280 calories for this cookie, no transfat, 20% of your daily fiber, no cholesterol and chock full of healthy ingredients to get you started (it does however have 23 gr. of sugar, so if you are looking for low sugar, this probably isn't for you). I have to say I was skeptical that this would carry me to lunch because it is just one large cookie, and not like one of those overly heavy, hockey puck like items you expect when you see something is full of fiber, it also didn't have that saw dust kind of texture you get from some power bars. This definitely has enough of the right stuff to keep me full for several hours. My favorite way to eat these cookies are to stick them in the microwave for 20-25 seconds so they get soft and the caramel melts just a little.

I pretty much like all of the flavors, but overall this one is probably my most favorite. The other nice thing is that these cookies are meant to freeze and can freeze up to a year. The box of twelve cookies are all individually wrapped and I take them straight from freezer to microwave, for a quick, nutritious breakfast that is both satisfying and delicious.

I'm happy to see that amazon seems to be carrying more of the Baker line, which also saves tremendously on the shipping costs!

My husband and I have tried to change our eating habits this year and part of that has been making sure we have something for breakfast. I don't know about everyone else, but we are not friends with our alarm clock. We have a slap fight every morning with it until we realize we must obey if we want to keep our jobs. Needless to say, there is no time for breakfast before we rush out the door.

This is where these cookies come in very handy. The first time we bought them we kept them in our pantry (I think we bought 60 that time to try a variety of flavors). Unfortunately, by the time we reached the last dozen, they had gone bad and were a bit fuzzy. Now this is actually a good thing! Mold can't grow without moisture, so this tells you the cookies are moist! Because they are all natural and are not made with preservatives, it is only reasonable that they would have a shorter shelf life.

Next order we popped a weeks worth in the fridge and put the rest in the freezer. We did this because my husband likes to eat them in morning traffic on his way to work so frozen cookies wouldn't work for him. I on the other hand work in a very small office so I brought a variety to work and put them in our freezer. In the morning I just pop one into the microwave for 45 seconds and I have a warm, tasty breakfast. I especially like the gooeyness of the melted caramel and chocolate from those varieties.

At an average of 300 calories it is a good meal alternative and is very filling. It is a nice alternative to drinking a slim fast for breakfast, though I do sometimes still do Slimfast for breakfast and have a cookie for lunch.

I would like to see them come in a variety dozen.

As with a lot of older people, my 85 year old mother tends to skip breakfast and since she takes several medications, I thought she should have something to eat with the meds. She lives in MO, I live in TX so I can't run over to take her breakfast. I have ordered Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookies and had them sent to her a couple of times. She has enjoyed all of them. I have to eat gluten free so I have not personally tasted them but she says all of the flavors I have sent were very good. They make a great "gift" for her once you are that age, there is very little that you need as a gift for an occasion, birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas, etc. I have found that giving her something edible makes way more sense than giving her something that will just clutter up her house.

My wife and I have tried just about all the flavors of Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookies. They're all good -moist, filling, and they keep well in the freezer as well as in tins. They're easy to warm in the microwave, too; about 30 seconds if frozen, about 12-15 seconds otherwise. Just clip off the end of the individual package and zap. (Those who complain about about dryness may have put one in a toaster for too long.) As to the ingredients, I looked at the list on the back of the 'Caramel Apple' version to see the dreaded "corn syrup" someone complained about. First, it's NOT HFCS. Second, it's in the caramel! Most of the cookies don't have any.

The only reason we don't give this cookie 5 stars is that they are very, very sweet for our tastes. The sweetness may even prevent some from being able to detect all the other flavors. Dried apples and unsweetened apple sauce are good ingredients, prune puree isn't bad either, the apple pie-type spices are very nice, and a little molassas is traditional. It's the evaporated cane juice and brown rice syrup in the cookie and the liquid sugar and corn syrup in the caramel bits that may take the sweetness over the top for some. The way we see it, this is a highly portable breakfast for when you're in a hurry, and it may be low fat/high fiber, but don't kid yourself -it's a cookie. We'd recommend drinking something like V-8 as well as something hot like tea with milk or a skinny latte to round out this quickie cookie breakfast. (Just watch your sweet intake for the rest of the day ....)

Bought these so I could eat them for breakfast when I'm really short on time or to eat during break time from work and wow, they are so good!! Also brought a couple of them over to a trip to Europe and they were perfect! I never got tired of these at all! I haven't tried the other ones but this Caramel Apple breakfast cookie is so delicious! The ingredients that are in here are the real thing: whole grain oats, dried apples, caramel bits and apple pie spice, to name a few. No high-fructose corn syrup, trans-fats or artificial anything will you find in these, which is even more awesome. Nice that they're individually wrapped and just the right size! Since there's no preservatives, you may want to freeze them so they'll last longer just heat them up in the microwave and they'll taste great! I do not regret buying these at all very happy to have bought these!!

My daughter loves this cereal. It has become her new favorite and she eats a bowl every morning. It is not too sweet and still healthy. (I am also a celiac and this is a bit too peanut buttery for me in the morning...)

This is a tasty cereal and I really appreciate and love that it is organic. However it has a weird lingering taste and smell that I can't really describe...sort of plastic-y. It's not enough to dissuade me from eating it or buying it again, but just something to note. Also, it's really too bad that the puffs aren't shaped like pandas. I wish they were.

Kashi Hills Cereal, Blackberry, 9.8 Ounce

Kashi Hills Cereal, Blackberry, 9.8 OunceI really like this cereal. It most reminds me of Special K Redberries, except that it has all natural, organic ingredients. The flakes are a bit more like regular cereal, but crispier. The blackberries are very good as well. This is going to be my new favorite! I hope Amazon carries it soon, as it's hard to find in stores.
