J&D's Ultimate Bacon Lover's Gift Pack (Baconnaise Bacon Flavored Spread, 6-Flavors Bacon Salt and

J&D's Ultimate Bacon Lover's Gift PackIt is hard to put into words on how great this product is. Not only does it come with multiple varieties of Bacon Salt, all excellent by the way, but included is a jar of Baconnaise and Lipbalm. I am not a huge fan of the Lip Balm, but it is a novelty item and won't kill you.... so far. The Baconnaise is super-fantastic (in the Arnold voice). It is the envy of every coworker in the building. I recommend the Baconnaise on a cracker of your choice and sprinkled with some flavor of Bacon Salt. Why? Because everything should taste like Bacon. Bacon is what all meat strives to be. J&D did right when they made this product. God Bless them....every one!

Don

Bacon It's whats for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

I ordered this pack after watching the product on a tv shopping channel. Amazon's price was better and there were more products offered. I use the bacon salt on everything, and the mayo is great for making panni's. I would order again and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it didn't have the peppered bacon salt flavor offered in the gift pack.

I'm reviewing the whole package when I give it 2 stars.

First, I love the Baconnaise. It's all I use on hamburgers now. No mayonnaise, mustard or ketchup. I'm getting ready to order more of it. Personally, I don't find that it tastes like bacon, but I really like the flavor.

The lip balm, don't really care about, tastes like the baconnaise but I don't use it.

Now the bacon salt. The flavor of the three I tried was pretty good. The problem is after only a few days after opening them, they became completely solidified. I've tried to knock the bottles on the countertop to loosen it, didn't work, opened them up and used a butter knife to break it up and it's really sticky. Even after breaking it up with a knife, when trying to shake it out, nothing makes it, it just sticks together. Maybe I got a bad or old batch, not sure, but I would not waste my money on the bacon salt again.

I bought this as a Cmas gift for my brother who loves bacon. This was partially as a gag gift, partially as a serious gift. He loved it. He uses every spice interchangably with his recipes to create new bacon flavors and he uses them often. It was the perfect gift for a bacon flavor lover.

Bob's Red Mill Buckwheat Pancake Mix, 26-Ounce Bags (Pack of 4)

Bob's Red Mill Buckwheat Pancake Mix, 26-Ounce BagsI simply love Bob's Red mill products, and love Amazon for selling them for quite a bit less than Whole Paycheck. I've been enjoying a lot of things from them recently, including Kamut Breakfast Cereal and a really delicious soup mix. Their Buckwheat Pancake mix is another example of a healthy, tasty, and reasonably priced item from Bob's Red Mill. I got a taste for Buckwheat pancakes as a kid (My mom used to make them on cold mornings in January), but stopped eating them as an adult. My wife LOVES pancakes, and while I enjoy them too, I find the regular kind not keep me filled up, nor are they particularly healthy. I remembered that I used to really like buckwheat pancakes, and decided to hunt some up. I found these, and have been enjoying them ever since.

The mix is easy to prepare, but this isn't a 'complete' mix and does require an egg and some oil in addition to cold water. As an alternative you can use milk, which gives the pancakes a slightly richer flavor. Milk or water, either way they're tasty! Buckwheat is a wholegrain, meaning these fill you up and keep you filled much longer than traditional pancakes which are full of sugar and cheap carbs. I can eat probably a dozen regular pancakes. I can only manage to put away 5-6 of these guys!

A few recommendations on preparation:

1) Mix the pancake batter and then let it sit 30 minutes or even an hour in your refrigerator. It makes the pancakes lighter and fluffier.

2) Go for thinner batter rather than thick. It makes the pancakes easier to cook, and gives you a tastier pancake as a result.

3) Cook on medium heat, not high. Because the batter is dark to begin with, it is harder to tell when your pancakes are done without overcooking them. Use less heat to help you get them cooked perfectly.

4) You can easily mix this batter with a regular pancake mix to make 'hybrid' cakes if you find these are a bit too thick for your taste. I've gone that route a few times for my wife since she likes her pancakes less dense than these.

5) Get yourself some real maple syrup! Nothing goes as well with Buckwheat pancakes than real maple syrup! That's how the American pioneers ate them, and I love feeling like I'm participating in an American tradition when I make these for my family.

6) Eat them for dinner! Pancakes and eggs for dinner is amazing.

You can't go wrong with these pancakes. Buy them. Cook them. Eat them. Repeat!

I remember Buckwheat Pancakes from years ago. The thought of these heavy, rich tasting pancakes brings a sigh to my lips. My Mom useed to cook these when I was a kid, and I always loved them...now, I fixed them for my Grandson, and he feels the same...3 pancakes, 2 eggs, and lots of butter and real Homemade Hot Sugar and vanalla suyrp...OMG...soooo good. layer a pancake, then egg, then pancake, then another egg, finished by another pancake to make the Family Stacker! I found this brand a few years back, and it is the real thing...easy to make, healthy, and Lord knows...eat 3 of these and you will NOT be hungry in a couple hours! They Stick with you. Is a common breakfast item from long ago...settlers and farmers...eat these and you could plow a field, and have more energy to make it till lunch! Be Well, and Blessings upon all...

These buckwheat pancakes come out great and you don't need to feel guilty about eating something with an ingredients list that is frighteningly long. Like someone else mentioned, these pancakes are best served with maple syrup, not aunt jemima high fructose corn syrup. Unfortunately, I haven't tried the mix in waffle form. Throw in Bananas or chocolate chips or walnuts etc for a twist!

Here's the recipe on the back of the package (I've bought three packages in the past couple months and just recently put one and a half into a container for better storage (threw out the package)and looked all over the internet for it!):

Pancake Mix:

1 cup mix

1 egg

1 tsp oil

3/4 cup cold milk

Waffle Mix:

1 cup mix

2 eggs

2 tsp oil

3/4 cup cold milk

My grandkids don't even know they are eating whole grain pancakes, the texture is like regular pancakes. I also like the fact that Bob's Red Mill mixes are all organic but the price is very reasonable. These pancakes are easy to make and my husband asks for them often, many times for dinner. I gave my daughter a package of this pancake mix and now her family is hooked on these pancakes. I highly recommend this mix, once you try it you will be glad you did.

BOB'S VS. BISQUICK:

I went to Bob's Buckwheat Pancake Mix (have now gone through two 4-packs!) from using Bisquick, mainly to get away from the refined flour and get some better, whole grain nutrition. I'm happy I did, and wouldn't go back; it's my body I'm feeding. The negative is, and some others have noted it here, is that this mix doesn't produce particularly light, fluffy pancakes. They're good, but not super light like Bisquick did. Maybe if you beat and fold in egg whites (but I don't eat eggs). That's not to say they don't rise, or they aren't good, and great tasting.

BOB'S VS MADE FROM SCRATCH

No comparison. I bought organic bulk buckwheat flour (which you can get pretty inexpensive in a 25lb bag if you're a nut) from Amazon; search for "Great River Organic Milling." I then made my own egg-less, butter-less, milk-less version from something I found on the web:

3/4c Buckwheat flour

3/4c Whole wheat flour

1.5 tsp Baking Powder

1/2 tsp Baking Soda (I think you could switch this to Baking Powder, but this came from the recepie)

1/4 tsp salt

1 tbsp (that's tablespoon) Agave Nectar (you can totally skip this; it's a low glycemic index sweetener)

2 tbsp olive oil (you could use melted coconut oil if you're worried about the heat on the olive oil). I wouldn't skip the oil though; buckwheat can be a bit sticky on the pan, even a no-stick.

water to consistency (I'm assuming you've made pancakes before; I never measure my water)

*Cook IMMEDIATELY after adding the water. Do not let it sit around for 20 min.

*Cook on lightly oiled no-stick pan; I use cast iron and it's great, but you do need a little oil as Buckwheat is a bit sticky.

Good lord, they were ridiculously light and fluffy. Amazingly so. Blew Bob's out of the water. I haven't tried 100% buckwheat flour yet, but after doing some more reading, it appears that would work fine as well.

I'm not sure why Bob's mix produces pancakes that are so heavy in comparison, because it's basically the same ingredients. Perhaps it's something about a fresh mix. Maybe the baking powder/soda goes flat???? I have no idea, but I'm doing all mine from scratch from now on. No question about it.

SUMMARY:

If you really want to just open a bag and use it, I think Bob's is great stuff, and good for you. If you want super fluffy pancakes, make your own; they're much better, and that way you can also go all-Buckwheat.

Enjoy Life Cinnamon Raisin Crunch Granola, Gluten, Dairy & Nut Free, 12.8-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 6)

Enjoy Life Cinnamon Raisin Crunch Granola, Gluten, Dairy & Nut Free, 12.8-Ounce PouchesThis granola/cereal is great. I have many allergies and I never get sick no matter how much of this I eat. The new formula is crunchy in a nicer way unlike the old formula could have broken a tooth. (There were uncooked rice grains in there like little stones.) I add splenda and a little more cinnamon and cover it in skim milk, then heat it up in the microwave. It's thickens like oatmeal and it's very tasty that way! Also good in yogurt.

I'm suprised by the negative reviews of this I eat this as a snack, not a breakfast a 1/2 cup of this in a baggie taken to work and eaten like I would normally have eaten potato chips very crunchy, very nice.

I highly recommend Amazon's subscribe and save for your favorite specialty foods that are offered that way. No shipping cost (even if less than […]) and at least for those I purchase there is a significant savings over local store prices. In Seattle, the shipment arrives in just 2 days as well. I purchased this product as a snack item... I have to agree with the other reviewers, this granola is just plain bad. It is hard but not crunchy. The pieces are irregular--some much to large to eat since it is so hard, others too small. I actually came on the web to figure out if anybody found a viable way to use up this product--a recipe or something. So far, no luck.

Typically I find that Enjoy Life products surprise me with how good they areespecially considering they avoid the ten most common allergens in their ingredients. I want to like this product, but it just just does not stand up to the superior taste quality I have found in other products I have enjoyed from this company. The box advertises a "NEW crunchier taste!" and, sans the "er", the claim would be an outright lie. The product is not remotley crunchy, however, the texture is not wholly unpleasant, though it is visually unappealing. The cinnamon taste is what made this product unpalatable; it is very overpowering and after eating only a few pieces creates an oil like coating on the tongue, that is not at all quick to dissipate. The cinnamon taste is less akin to that of an oatmeal cookie, and more like the taste of cinnamon oil in an inexpensive candy. Sorry Enjoy Life this one's just not for me.

Post Bran Flakes, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)

Post Bran Flakes, 16-Ounce BoxesThe Post Bran Flakes are the very best bran flakes ever. I have tried them all. None compares to the taste and the amount of fiber you get from these Post Bran Flakes. They are so good for your digestive system. I was so happy to have found them on Amazon.com. I would buy a car load if I had some place to keep them. Please always have them available. Thank you, thank you.

This product is execellent. I have eaten many other bran cereals by different companies during the time Post Bran cereal had became unavailable in my local groceries. I have found Post to be the most effective. Post Bran Cereal is a 100% natural and high in fiber and potassium and taste great. I am so please to know that this cereal is still available for purchase. I just hope it will continue to be available, because there is no cereal that can replace Post Bran Cereal

My husband likes this brand of bran flakes best, and he eats bran flakes every day. It's getting impossible to find them; our local Safeway, where I used to get them, stopped carrying them, and the other stores I shop at don't even seem to carry any type of bran flakes without raisins anymore. Ordering them from Amazon was convenient and ended up being cheaper (with free shipping) than the few stores I've seen that still carry them.

When Publix in South Florida stopped selling Post Bran Flakes we were at a loss...the amount of cereals without high sugar content and taste good is limited. We went on Amazon and purchased this product without question. The price of the order was less than Publix, came when it was supposed to and was in perfect condition. We are on auto delivery and had to change the dates a few times...always handled quickly and without error! He LOVES his Post Bran Flakes!!

MACROBARS Organic Granola with Coconut, 2 oz Bars (Pack of 15)

MACROBARS Organic Granola with Coconut, 2 oz Barsso... i have a dietitian now who's helping me lose another 40 pounds. i lost 30 myself this past year and needed help revamping my program and staying on track.

so she put me on whole meal replacement (WMR) diet-with a 1200 calorie daily and only whole foods. every day for the last 2 months i've started my day with a cup of coffee/ cream and the coconut macrobar-240 calories total. i chose the coconut because it's got a lot fewer caLORIES THAN THE OTHER VARIETIES OF MACROBAR. I CHOse macrobar because i liked the ingredients. i wasnt interested in losing weight by eating chemistry-based non-foods. (my other WMR is the Orgain shake in the afternoon. those 2 WMRs plus 2 snacks and 1 meal in the middle of the day has been working great.)

the coconut macrobar is delicious, filling and satisfying. it crunches a little, is sweet a little, is sticky a little and it fills up a lot.

the nutritional stats are good-my dietitian was happy i discovered them and has added them to her list of recommended WMR bars. i'm happy to report i've lost 6 pounds *each* month these past 2 months!

These delicious bars have a nice chewy texture. The kids love these and so do I even though they are not as sweet as most other 'health' bars and contain no cane sugar or corn syrup. (I often pick out the raisins myself which isn't hard to do.) They are a very good deal through Amazon.

I got these on a promotion so I didn't pay full price, but they are GOOD. I think they taste great. Not a big source of protien at only 5g, and I wish the sugar was a little lower being at 17g.. but overall seems to be a pretty good bar to pick you up a little and give you some energy. I eat them in the morning as my 10am snack. I don't know if I'll buy them again though due to the price. I don't think they're worth $27 for a box, but I'll gladly buy them on a promotion again.

I am always on the lookout for gluten free snacks that my high school aged daughter can eat before practice and these are her all time favorite. I pay $3/bar at Whole Foods for these things, so even though they still sound expensive on Amazon, it's a better deal on here by the case.

I generally like granola but don't like granola bars. This is the only granola bar I've ever had that

actually tastes better than the granola I would normally eat as cereal with [rice]milk. It's hard to

believe! I purchased it randomly and was amazed at the unique flavor, wonderful texture and

delicious aftertaste. I will certainly buy it again; it's worth the price. Also, compared to other similar

bars it is less sweet and they don't use white sugar.

I tried a few other flavors from this company. They are mostly pretty good but the granola is 100% the best,

hands down.

PranaBar Organic Energy Bars (Pack of 24)

PranaBar Organic Energy Bar, Apricot Goji, 1.7-Ounce BarsThese bars are great tasting and mine are VERY fresh. They also are much healthier than other bars that you can take on the go. My husband and grown kids also love them so they are going fast at my house.

It is great to have bars like these that you can take on trips. I travel a lot for work and it is so nice to have these on the plane to munch on or later at the hotel when you really don't want a big meal yet want something to snack on.

I was surprised at how tasty this "raw" bar could be. Even my hard-to-please wife said it was good! It is lightly sweet but not too sweet. The cashew/almond flavor is very good and the ingredients are organic (and no soy). I think this is the best tasting health bar I've had.

We use fruit and nut bars for between meal snacks and/or for a light meal with a big glass of homemade soy milk.

We buy the pear-ginseng bars also, but I prefer this apricot pumpkin seed combination because it is not so sweet. But whatever combination you choose, these are really fresh tasting nutrition bars!

Kashi Blackberry Hills Cereal (14x9.8 Oz)- 14 Pack

Kashi Blackberry Hills Cereal- 14 PackThis Kashi Blackberry Hills cereal was rated one of the top healthy cereals... With only six ingredients, the organic whole grain rice and wheat flakes with tangy organic blackberries provide a wonderfully healthy and crunchy alternative to sugar-laden cereals.

This is by far the worst cereal we've ever eaten. The blackberries taste terrible, and the flakes are like chips of mica lightly sweetened. They are too hard and have no flavor, but the real killer is the awful tasting berries. We probably won't even finish the box and I never throw food away.

Mother's Quick Cooking Barley - Hot, 11-Ounce (Pack of 12)

Mother's Quick Cooking Barley - Hot, 11-OunceI used to buy Mother's Quick Cooking Barley locally at Whole Foods and it became one of my food staples, but my Whole Foods stopped carrying it. My Amazon order arrived promptly and was undamaged. Barley has a wonderful taste and helps reduce cholesterol because it has soluble fiber. It can be used in soups, as a side dish, or in many rice recipes. Cooking time is short because this barley product is rolled flat, like oats for oatmeal, so it's done in just 10-12 minutes.

My son has wheat allergies and this is a great substitute. He uses it as a substitute for pasta in pasta salad, for breakfast, and to just nibble on. Compared with the long-cooking barley, this product cooks up in about 10 mins., and you don't get the gummy residue which can occur with the long-cooking variety. Once cooked up it keeps for several days in the fridge, and the chewy texture is not compromised. It re-warms nicely. (The price is much better than at the supermarket, too!) My only gripe: I wish it would be included on Amazon's automatic shipping program.

Note: This product will not work for people with gluten allergies.
