Bunnery Natural Foods Breakfast Variety Sampler, 5.25-Pound

Bunnery Natural Foods Breakfast Variety Sampler, 5.25-PoundAll the family is a fan of granola. We have tried many different brands over the past two years, and the children choose those from The Bunnery in Jackson Hole as the best, far better than Bear Naked and Kashi, etc.

They are the perfect balance of sweet and sour, with the delicate taste of the different grains. They also stay fresh and crunchy for a good 6 months.

I also like the pancake and waffle mix with oats, sunlowers seeds and millet. You add some honey and you feel that you're starting your day at your phycal best.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This was a great assortment of four kinds of granola, a natural oatmeal blend and a whole grain pancake and waffle mix. The granola was addictive even after I'd finished it, I'd find myself wanting a bowl. It was naturally sweet, crunchy, nutty and wonderful. My favorite of the four flavors was the blueberry the cinnamon was not too overpowering, and it had a fair amount of blueberries in it. I'll be buying more of it.

The oatmeal is heavy duty these aren't flakes, but ground oats mixed with sunflower seeds and some whole grains. It swells up, so take half of what you think you can eat and allow for twice the milk you think you need to add. It's a great, stick to your ribs way to start the day.

The pancake and waffle mix was also full of cracked grains and sunflower seeds (not an overwhelming amount.) I was afraid the cakes would be heavy, but with a little extra milk they created a fluffy cake with a nice little crunch to it. I highly recommend giving this a try, because this mix turns the guilty pleasure of pancakes into a healthful, satisfying choice for breakfast.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program As one might expect in a variety pack, there will be, well, a variety of responses. I haven't finished and will update as I get to them all, but here's what's what so far:

Original Granola: My wife found it too sweet and powdery. I didn't think it overly sweet, but agreed on the powdery part. We both prefer our granola to be chunkier, bite-size pieces with some heft/crunch to them. Not sure if this is an isolated or a shipping issue, but this bag was mostly pulverized granola. Taste was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. A few serving facts:

120 calories 25 mg of sodium (seemed a bit high) 5 gr. of sugar 3 g of protein

Ingredients: Oats, honey, sunflower seeds, coconut( couldn't really taste), canola oil, sesame seeds, walnuts, water, almonds, salt, cinnamon (couldn't really taste), cloves

Banana honey-nut: We both found this one a bit sweet. Much better consistency with lots of bite-sized chunks. Liked the taste better than the regular.

120 cal 6 g fat 25 mg sodium 5 g sugar 3 g of protein

Ingredients: Oats, honey, brown rice syrup, sunflower seeds, coconut( couldn't really taste), canola oil, sesame seeds, walnuts, dehydrated bananas, water, almonds, salt, cinnamon (couldn't really taste), cloves

Cranberry nut: My personal favorite. Not too sweet, very nice taste with hints of vanilla rather than overpowering. Also good bite-sized chunks. Same nutrition. Same ingredients as above save rather than bananas it has cranberries (go figure) and vanilla extract.

Blueberry: No too sweet, has a blueberry taste but while it isn't bad, I didn't care much for it. Good bite-sized chunks. Same nutrition, save for, well, you can figure it out

oatmeal: taste is OK, I kind of liked it, but it wouldn't be my first reach on the shelf for oatmeal. I did like the sunflower taste and consistency. Directions were a bit oddly vague--cover with water or milk and microwave for a minute. No measurements at all. I"ll keep using, experimenting with measures, and update.

still have to try the pancake/waffle mix

I'm sure I'll enjoy the granola and that the other items are of good quality. I was, however, looking for wheat free items. The following text "In addition each box contains one unit each of our O.S.M. Oatmeal and Pancake/Waffle Mix. These two items are made with oatmeal, sunflower seeds and millet." does not mention they also contain wheat flour and wheat germ.

Irish Black Pudding 8oz

Irish Black Pudding 8ozReceived the black pudding yesterday. The dry ice had long ago evaporated and the pudding was only slightly cool to the touch.

Tried it this morning. Similar to Irish version but a bit more bland. Also, it contains substantially less grain filler . Closer to Canadian blood sausage than to Irish Black Pudding. It will do when you can't get the real thing.

This arrived at least a week late with no refrigeration. Upon opening the package, I found it was warm and smelled a bit strange. I would have sent it back, but it was stinking up my home and had to be disposed of. As for a refund, I'm still wondering if I want to banter with the monkeys who sent it. It took them long enough.

If you like british black pudding do not buy this. It is not like true black pudding as it falls apart as you cook it and, it don't have same taste.

Arrived chilled. All of the dry ice packing had evaporated by the time I received it. I understand why the high price for shipping. The product is very good. Family had never tried anything like this. Actually used this in an apetizer for family Christmas gathering. Fried it oil-less, served on a cracker topped with goat cheese and cooked blueberries. Wonderful flavor. The spices linger on the tongue. Will buy from again. Highly recommended to try.

an overall good pudding spoiled by the use of way too much allspice. The spice overpowers the pudding. It's downright off putting.

Go Raw Live Pumpkin Bar, 10 - 13 gram Bars

Go Raw Live Pumpkin Bar, 10 - 13 gram BarsThese come out to about 1$ a bar or less, and if you consider them about a third the size of a 'normal' bar....it's about average price in raw bar world. Granted, the bar is tiny, only 60 calories and thin; but I LOVE that! It's easy portion control and just the right size for me when I am on the trail or in between meetings. Don't expect a meal replacement, it's just a small snack; but it works out for my lifestyle quite nicely. It's also raw and delicious!

Taste is good, just you get so little in a bar. Very crispy, four wafer thin bites to a bar. Good taste but very disappointed in the size for the price.

These are just the right size to take in a lunch with some fruit or to have in your bag if you need a snack. The larger bar at my local store is $3.29 and is too large to eat at once. Super happy with this purchase. If you like punpkin seeds with a llight sweet crispy taste, these are just the ticket. I think they are delicious!

These bars are a few quick bites of raw seeds in something sticky enough to bind them together. While they are convenient and true to the cause, their size makes them less than a good value and for the money, i'm going back to carrying raw seed in a baggie. Sorry Go Raw . . .

My husband likes energy bars for breakfast. I bought these a month ago and the mostly full box is still in the pantry. He says they are more like "very thin fruit leather with seeds n nuts pressed into them, it's not a bar". He's not a fan.

Earth's Best Organic Yummy Tummy Instant Oatmeal, 10 Count (Pack of 6)

Earth's Best Organic Yummy Tummy Instant Oatmeal, Apple Cinnamon, 10-CountThis is my daughter's absolute favorite breakfast food! She is 3 years old, but has been enjoying it since about a year & half. She also likes the Maple & Brown Sugar variety, but definitely prefers this one. I use organic milk to prepare it, just enough to soak the oats, put it in the microwave for about 45 seconds then top it with applesauce as the mix in (to cool it off quicker). She loves it!

My 1-year old daughter and I both LOVE this oatmeal. It has just the right amount of sweetness, and it's not gloppy and soggy like some instant oatmeal. This is the only instant oatmeal we eat now. Of course, my daughter loves that Elmo is on the package...

We go through 2-3 boxes of this oatmeal per week. It tastes great and the fact that it is organic is a plus for us. I find it cheaper on amazon than in my local grocer.

My child is allergic to nuts, and I used to use this cereal on a daily basis. She loved it and never had any problems. My latest shipment (4/13) had new packaging, which alerted me to review the ingredients. Apparently now the product is manufactured in a facility that processes nuts, and could be less safe for nut allergy sufferers.

Search for new breakfast cereal now begins.

This is by far the best flavored instant oatmeal I have found. Other brands are either too sweet, or if they advertise no added sugar actually taste salty. This one is just yummy! My 3-year-old and I have both been eating it for the last couple of years and we both love it.

Kay's Naturals Better Balance Protein Cereal French Vanilla -- 9.5 oz

Kay's Naturals Better Balance Protein Cereal French Vanilla -- 9.5 ozI always eat Kay's protein cereal since it's about the only cold cereal that contains more than 1 or 2 grams of protein. It also has no wheat, which is fine for my gluten-free body.

I especially like the vanilla flavor; I'd rather add cinnamon than have so much of it in their apple-cinnamon variety.

Kashi U Cereal, Black Currants & Walnuts, 13-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)

Kashi U Cereal, Black Currants & Walnuts, 13-Ounce BoxesHad this for the first time and it was wonderful. The black currants are nice and tart and the walnuts add a great crunch to the whole thing. I'm not that much of a cereal person but I could get hooked on this stuff!

good cereal. taste is a bit strong for me (currants) but my husband and daughter absolutely love this and it is my husband's new favorite.

I know that Kashi makes an assortment of "good for you" cereals but, quite frankly, I just can't bring myself to eat many of them regularly because they taste like tree bark IMO. And Kashi foods in general *are* healthy but not recommended for someone trying to lose weight due to high amounts of fat, calorie, and carbs. For a VERY long time I've been trying to fine a cereal that A) tastes good, B) is low-fat, and C) has a good ratio of carbs-to-fiber-to protein. TRUST ME this is more difficult than you would imagine because usually the *really good-for-you* cereals (health-wise) taste terrible but Kashi's black currant & walnut cereal is a WINNER for me!!!!! EVEN MY DOG likes the teeny little oat clusters LOL!

First of all I LOOOOVE the currants! The sweetened flakes are a wonderful balance to the tart currants and the walnuts and oat clusters add a nice crunch. I add almond slivers and flax seeds to my bowl as well and my tastebuds are singing with each bite!

I'm also very keen on reading ingredients' labels on packages and even though the list on this product initially struck me as long (which usually translates into lots of preservatives via words I can't pronounce), I was pleasantly surprised that the ingredients total about 90% actual food products (natural sweeteners, fruits, grains, etc.) 5% vitamins, and 5% preservatives. That's really good for a wonderful as it tastes :-)

So, all in all, even though I am working on shedding about 50 lbs and need to really watch my fat, calorie, and carb intake, I can eat the recommended serving size of this cereal (1 cup) and not feel like I'm sabotaging my weight loss efforts because I easily burn the 200 calories in my morning workout and the 7g fiber/5g protein/3.5g fat per serving (these numbers are slightly elevated b/c I add my own nuts) are all still "safe" numbers. Sometimes I will even eat the cereal as a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack if I chose to eat something different for breakfast. It's THAT yummy!!!!

The only snag I might run into is trying to FIND this cereal. Right now, I've been lucky to buy it at Grocery Outlet for only $2.99/box but these stores typically don't stock "specialty" cereals on a regular basis. They just get a shipment of something in and when it's gone, it's gone. GRRRR!! So I'm going to go buy whatever stock they have left of this cereal and hope I don't have to buy it through Amazon and pay shipping. Sounds like Costco has it though so I might have to break down and buy a membership just for the cereal. LOL!

This is the first cereal I can honestly say I will always eat as long as they keep making it. The combination of the tart black currants with the walnuts and crunchy high fiber flakes....I don't know....it's just so good. It's a shame it's more expensive than most cereals, but it's delicious, nutritious, and worth it. Be aware that this box is slightly smaller than most standard cereals. I try to eat mostly paleo/high protein, but I always keep this around to satisfy my carb/sweet cravings. It's healthier than most options and it's delicious. Delivery was great and the expiration dates were 6+ months out.

Freedom Foods Corn Flakes, 375 g Net Boxes (Pack of 5)

Freedom Foods Corn Flakes, 375 g Net BoxesPlease note: These are not your generic store brand cornflakes. They are high in fiber (from psyllium) and low in salt for those who care. With only a "hint of golden syrup" from cane sugar, the flavor may seem bland to many people, but I find it to be a nice departure from the overly sweet and/or high sodium cereals on the market. Nutritional breakdown for 1 cup (50 grams!note most servings are 30g) calories: 190, 2g of fat; sodium: 3%! dietary fiber 20% (5g) protein 3g; iron 15%. These are sturdy little flakes, like tiny little clam shells and hold up well in liquid. I would definitely recommend and for those who want to spice it upadd some bananas/dried fruits and yogurt or other dairy/non-dairy beveragegreat start to the day!
