Berkley & Jensen Granola with almonds, strawberries and raspberries (2lbs)

Berkley & Jensen Granola with almonds, strawberries and raspberriesLove, love, love this! I've been eating it nearly every day for breakfast for about a year now. Nice to see that I don't have to go to BJs to get it anymore!

Organic Food Bar, Active Greens, 2.4 Ounce (Pack of 12)

Organic Food Bar, Active Greens, 2.4 OunceThis is one of the very few "snack" bars that provides many nutrients including protein. It is not a candy bar, doesn't taste like one, and does not create stomach upset. It is reminiscent of homemade blocks of healthy condensed fruits and nuts that my parents used to get from a friend. I'm not thrilled with the taste; I use them in spite of that aspect because it enables me to function without having to have a meal when I'm on the run. Even better is the bar by Organic Food Bar called simply Protein. It has double the protein of this one.

Mornflake Jumbo Porridge Oats, 26-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12)

Mornflake Jumbo Porridge Oats, 26-Ounce BoxesMornflake Jumbo Porridge Oats, 26-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12) Where in West Los Angeles can I purchase this superior, creamy and most flavorful breakfast cereal? I find Mornflake Oats by far surpass all its competitors and I have tried every one of them I can find. These oats are full of life force unlike other oats which turn grey upon cooking. Mornflake oats become slightly golden are ultra creamy and tasty.

Please pack this treasure in sturdier boxes and cartons they tend to arrive slightly crushed and sometimes open. I have noticed this when buying Mornflake oats through amazon.com and at Whole Foods market. Lamentably, Whole Foods no longer carries this product in L.A., nor does anyone else whom I can find. They are really "missing the boat" by failing to stock this item. Even amazon.com had only one case left the last time I ordered! HELP!!!

I never knew how good oatmeal was until I tried Mornflake. I have it for breakfast every day. It took a little try and error to get it just like I like it. I put the water and oats in the pan and let it set for about 10 min before cooking then put the lid on and let it set for another 5 min. I then add a little cane syrup and milk. I hope a lot of people buy this so Amazon will keep carrying it.

I love this oatmeal & used to buy it at local market. Then they discontinued it & I was so glad to find on Amazon. Fast shipping too.

I got tired of looking for Mornflakes at the store, (only found them once & was hooked). I couldn't believe I was actually buying a case of oatmeal, but I did! Made lots of Christmas oatmeal cookies for friends. I cook up enough for 3 days at a time & leave it in bowls in the refrig then add milk & fruit, microwave it & enjoy. It is consistently good & I love the large oats that are never tough or mushy. Am very grateful I found them & now have enough to last a LONG TIME!

Mornflake Jumbo Porridge Oats is an outstanding product, available until recently here in the US in the 26-ounce box shown here. However, there's been an apparent change in the marketing, and the product is available in the UK, at least, in 26-ounce bags. If you visit the Mornflake website () you can find out more about the porridge and other interesting products, along with a history of the company.

Please, Amazon, it's probably a small group of us who is seeking out this product, but it's worth the search to find it here. Can you continue to supply Mornflake Jumbo Porridge Oats in its new identity and packaging? There's no oatmeal of its kind Irish, American, or English I have tried that can hold a candle to it. There are good steel-cut oats from small Irish mills, but that's another category of the grain. These oats make great breakfast cereal, but they also are great ingredients for super meatloaf and fabulous oatmeal raisin cookies. Highly recommended!

Corazonas Oatmeal Squares, Chocolate Brownie & Almond, 1.76-Ounce Bars (Pack of 12)

Corazonas Oatmeal Squares, Chocolate Brownie & Almond, 1.76-Ounce BarsAll of the Corazonas Oatmeal Squares are good, but this one is my favorite. It's not overly sweet like most regular brownies, and the oatmeal and nuts provide just the right texture. If you microwave it for 10-15 seconds (after you take it out of the wrapper) it's much improved, like it just came out of the oven.

Having tried 3 of the 5 flavors offered by Corazonas it's hard to tell the difference in consistency & flavor. All 3 are worth having but the Chocolate Brownie & Chocolate Chip taste so similar you can't go wrong. The Cranberry is my favorite but I still rate the others 5 stars! All 3 provide a good tasting & filling snack no matter what part of the day you eat them.

I was hesitant to try these 'healthy' treats but I am surely glad that I did. They are really tasty and supposedly good for you and I LOVE the wonderfully rich chocolate flavor. GO for it if you are a chocoholic like me!

These are moist, chewy, chocolately, and not too sweet, with little semi-sweet chunks of chocolate. Perfect when you are on the go, or if you are a chocoholic and need a chocolate fix! It's hard to believe they are actually good for you. They don't taste like cardboard the way many other healthy snacks do. I have low blood sugar so when I need to eat, I NEED to eat. I keep one in my purse if I get hungry or blood sugar is low, and it totally satisfies me for at a least a few hours without dipping my blood sugar later and making me tired the way a candy bar does. I can't recommend these enough! I got these when they were on sale at Costco. They are little cheaper there per box but you have to buy 6 boxes at a time.

I tried this product to see how it compared to their chocolate chip one, but I like the taste and texture of the chocolate chip better. Otherwise, it is good.

Irish Banger Sausage 3 - 1 lb. Pkgs.

Irish Banger Sausage 3 - 1 lb. Pkgs. These are not anything like the bangers I enjoyed while living there. I was really looking forward to showing my friends what a banger was like and why i've missed them so much. I won't be sharing these with anyone!

My mom is Irish, and on those special days, we had bangers, black/white and hash. These bangers are the closest I've come in Wyoming.

Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Muesli, 16 Ounce (Pack of 4)

Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Muesli, 16 OunceI was pretty happy to come across this cereal. I have always loved euro style muesli 'cause it's simple and fills me up well but when I went gluten free had to drop it completely. This one is pretty darn tasty. I really like the cranberries--they are super sweet and chewy. I tried it heated up and it was pretty good but I still like it best with cold strawberry yogurt.

Bob's Red Mill makes a very good Muesli... and I have enjoyed it so much however THIS gluten free option is so bland I don't even know what to do with all the packs I bought. It's not bad, but if you have tried the one that's not gluten free, this one will taste sooo bland!!

I happened upon an incredible recipe for refridgerator oatmeal that is super easy to take to my work in the mornings...grab and go. It has become my newest addiction!

The other day I ran out of my normal oatmeal and only had this Muesli in my cupboard. I thought, what can it hurt? So, I substituted my oats for this muesli in the recipe and haven't gone back since.

I've made it hot too. Tasty, but be forewarned, the puffed rice gets a bit mushy but the flavor is still there.

This is not your typical cereal! It's an great product and good versatility. We enjoy the choice of ingredients! It's good choice for something different..

Maybe because I recently had the NON gluten free Muesli by Bob's Red Mill, which was AWESOME! I was disappointed with the gluten free one...not nearly as tasty, and the rice puffs get soggy quick. But it's okay and at least does not contain corn. Nice, quick healthy breakfast. I don't HAVE to have gluten free, so I think I will go back to the original Muesli by Bob's Red Mill.

Mountain House Breakfast Skillet Camping Food (1 Can)

Mountain House Breakfast Skillet Camping Food
  • Easy to prepare?just add hot water
  • Includes ten 1 cup servings
  • 25 year shelf life
  • Made in the USA
  • Single Can
  • Easy to prepare, just add hot water

OK, first off, I really am a Chef. I have cooked in 4-star restaurants and greasy spoon dives in my 20+ year career. That having been said, these meals are actually far better than I expected them to be for something that will supposedly last 25 years. Sounds crazy I know, but it's true. However, if you're not sure if you will like them or not, I would suggest buying the single serving size pouches (also available on Amazon) and trying them out. That's what I did, and was not disappointed. Flavors are pretty good overall, I particularly like the beef stroganoff. It actually has a nice sour-creamy flavor, and the noodles and beef chunks are very flavorful. I'm not saying it's "just like Mom used to make", but after working a long shift, I'm more than happy to break one of these out and eat it.

Some textures may not be appealing to some people. I kind of had a problem with the eggs, but I got over it. They just seemed...wrong(?), somehow. Also, it is very important to use HOT water and let the meals sit for the required amount of time, or some bits may not fully rehydrate and still have a "spongy" texture. I guarantee, if you use cold or lukewarm water, you will be cursing me forever for recommending this stuff to you. Please don't do that! ZombieChef wants to help you!

I can highly recommend these to anyone who is looking for food for backpacking, camping, or to have in your home, car, or Bug-Out Bag in case of floods, hurricanes or the Zombie Apocalypse. My personal favorites are: Beef Stew, Beef Stroganoff, and Chicken and Noodles. Oh, and one more thing, try to save room for dessert!

I do have one small issue with this product but it is a very tiny one. Read on to find out about that because I want to list the PROS of these strawberries first.

Since buying these, we have ordered several more for storage in case of an emergency. We went through the first container and tested it two ways:

1. Eating it dry and straight from the container

2. Adding water so that the strawberries were closer in taste and texture to real strawberries and could be mixed into oatmeal or as a topping on other products.

In both cases, these strawberries were very tasty and each serving has 60% of the daily value for Vitamin C (although I don't know if this is for someone needing 2000 calories a day or less; they don't provide that info). For anyone with health problems, these have no fat of any kind, avoiding any issues with saturated, trans fat and cholesterol. They do have 2 grams of fiber, not terribly significant as well as 6 grams of sugar (but actual strawberries have natural sugar, too)

They are so delicious that we found ourselves often reaching for a handful as a snack and our kids loved them, too. Because they are dried, they have a crunchy texture. If you have a finicky eater and wonder if he is getting enough nutrition, you might be lucky enough to find that these are accepted. If so, you can ditch much of the junk food and let them snack on these (although it would be expensive to use them as a main snack food).

If you plan to go camping, you get at least 16 servings per container, although serving size is rather small.

In an emergency, you'd either need bottled water or an excellent water filtration system but only IF you wanted a softer texture. They don't need to have water to be used as is. In an emergency, you could easily stretch these to more than 16 servings, especially if used to top oatmeal or dry cereal or if you added a sprinkling to dry cereal.

For camping, the container is VERY lightweight, easy to bring along. If you wanted to use these as a snack food while taking a short hike from you camping ground, they would be best in a bag. The container is too large to be reasonable in a backpack for a short hike or even an all day hike.

Since these are high in Vitamin C, they are a nice alternative to Vitamin C tablets. So you get the Vitamin C benefits of strawberries, significant per serving, after you've gone through any fruit you bought before camping or have at home when an emergency happens. In fact, I'd make a case for leaving fresh fruit at home when camping. Use this product instead.

They also work well when added to kids' lunches or when taken to work in a small container for an alternative to candy bars or chips in the snack machines.

Add water and you'll have a bit more bulk.

Now here is my only issue and it is a small one: Open the container and you are likely to find it is half full. The dried strawberries settle. This makes it look like they've shorted you. But we weighed and measured each portion and there were indeed 16 full portions inside.

Ha! Yeah, how do they?

I actually like Mountain House's Freeze Dried Lasagna, I would have rated it 5 stars, except it isn't exactly lasagna. Its more like an "Italian Pasta and cheese stew". Its a bit messy, but really Darn Tasty! You get alot of Mini-Lasagna noodles in a sweet tomato sauce, with real cheese chunks. Trust me it tastes alot better than I made it sound! The Stuff in the #10 cans keep for about 35 years! And it doesn't get any easier to prepare, Add water, wait!

The Mountain House Beef Stew is excellent considering that it is vacuum packed in nitrogen and sealed in #10 cans with a shelf life of 30 years. Other reviewers have covered the outstanding taste and quality. I have another consideration.

Americans spend a fortune on home-owner's and auto insurance every year. Some more than others. However, when it comes to the basics necessary for survival, most pay little attention if any at all.

"WHY WORRY ABOUT FOOD, WATER, LIGHT AND HEAT INSURANCE?

THE GOVERNMENT WILL MAKE CERTAIN THAT ALL AMERICANS WILL

HAVE ADEQUATE FOOD, WATER, LIGHT AND HEAT, RIGHT?"

HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO GAMBLE ON THIS STATEMENT?

Unlike other types of insurance, the money spent insuring an adequate food supply will not be lost. Ten years from now, considering inflation, freeze-dried food purchased in 2011 can be enjoyed at a fraction of the cost that you'd pay at a grocery store in 2021. So, even if an emergency situation never happens, you are still saving money. This can't be said for money spent on homeowner's and auto insurance.

For an extensive menu of available freeze-dried foods, you might also search Saratoga Farms, Emergency Essentials and Provident Pantry.

Don't get caught with your pantry down.

Post Fruity Pebbles Treats, 8-Count Treats (Pack of 4)

Post Fruity Pebbles Treats, 8-Count TreatsI purchased these for my son who is on a gluten free diet. It's hard to find individually packaged treats to send to school with him that don't dry out or get crumbly.

He likes how they taste, and thinks they're great. They're not priced as high as other gluten free treats, and while they're not healthy and they have dyes and all, they work for him as a treat.

Paleo People Cacao Nut Granola 5 Oz Bag

Paleo People Cacao Nut Granola 5 Oz BagThe product itself was good but for the price you pay, the bag was too small. Another brand (Paleonola) makes similar product, at around the same price but you get more. I was complaining that the other brand was too expensive. This is even worse. I know you have to pay a little more for quality, but there has to be a way to get the cost down. I won't buy this again only because it's simply too expensive.

This paleo granola was not as good as I was hoping. I won't be ordering it again. Packaging was good.

These guys make great alternative granolas -banana, apple, cocoa, and cappucino. Be aware that that last one contains large pieces of coffee beans, so it's not for everybody, but these are a tasty, filling alternative to the junk we often reach for when hungry. Highly recommend!
