Tadin Chamomile Tea 24 Bags - Te De Manzanilla

Tadin Chamomile Tea 24 Bags - Te De ManzanillaI'm prone to anxiety and can have trouble sleeping so having chamomile tea around makes for something I'm always looking forward to making. I love the Tadin brand because I've known the brand for a while, it's a brand my grandmother bought. I also like the fact that it's a straightforward brand and there's none of the pretension you'd get from other brands. These are tea bags, and you get the same type/quality of tea with this brand for a fraction of the price of other brands. It's a very fragrant tea with a mild flavor so I usually have mine with a little drop of honey.

Postum Original, 8 oz

Postum Original, 8 ozOutraged and disapointed by Kraft Foods elimination of Postum, a group of entrepreneur's acquired the formula and the rights to the name from Kraft. Their web site is simply called postum.com and it claims the new product will be available for purchase this coming winter(2012). So be patient everyone and you won't need to spend $150.00 for a single jar.

Postum is a wheat/grain coffee substitute. When I was a child, my parents used to let me drink Postum while they had their coffee. I still love the taste of it--similar to coffee but unique. I enjoy it in the evening when it's too late for "real" coffee. I can purchase Postum in my local grocery store. I purchased the Postum from Amazon for my sister, who has moved to Tennessee where Postum is not available in the grocery store. She was ecstatic when she received the Postum I purchaed through Amazon.com.

I decided to be brave, spend the 20 bucks after shipping and buy an 8 ounce bottle of the new release of Postum from I still have one unopened bottle of the original postum left in my pantry that I just cant bring myself to open, so I compared at least the looks against the new one. The new bottle, first of all is plastic. Thats fine I have no problem with that, that shouldn't effect the product. I noticed the color of the mix is a lot darker than the original Postum, almost like it has oil in it or is wet and less "grain like" in its consistancy, more like a fine sawdust. After comparing the two bottles side by side the moment of truth was now at hand. I cracked the seal on the little white paper stuff that covered the top of the bottle. To my suprise there was almost no smell. I do remember the original postum having a distinct smell when you stick you nose an inch or two from the bottle, and this hardly had any odor to it. I took my 1 spoonful of mix and dumped it into a hot cup of water. It created a ton of foam as it mixed in, which I dont rember the original doing. I then poured my small amount of milk in it, and it turned a very light color. I added a touch of sugar and prepared for the taste. the first sip was kind of flat. I had to ask "did I put way to much milk in, or not enough mix?" well, I finished most of the cup and found myself a little let down. to me the first cup didnt seem like an exact match to the good old Postum of 2008. Weak on aroma and a little weak on taste. I will experiment alittle with the mixture and see if I can improve it, but I probably won't be buying another bottle. Were my expectations to high? Maybe, but if my memory of Postum is better than the real thing I think Ill stick with just the memory!

I have enjoyed Postum since drinking it with my grandmother as a small child. Yes I drink it sometimes instead of coffee, esp when I don't want coffee's diuretic effects, but it isn't a replacement for coffee. To rate it on its similarity to coffee is like giving camomile tea 3 stars for its dismal replacement value to Salada tea. Postum is a fullbodied tasty hot drink. It is slightly sweet, having molasses as one of the ingredients, and tastes excellent with bit of milk. As it is an instant beverage, it is fast and portable, easy to take with on a camping trip or to the office with no gear needed to brew it. Very satisfying late at night. Good with chocolate. Can also be put into a cup of hot milk. And unfortunately this month discontinued by its manufacturer, Kraft, after 113 years on the market.

Postum is great! It tastes good and has no caffeine! But none of the stores carry it anymore and everywhere online it is "out of stock, unknown when or if it will be available". What is going on?

Glutino Gluten Free Breakfast Bars, Blueberry, 5-Count Boxes (Pack of 6)

Glutino Gluten Free Breakfast Bars, Blueberry, 5-Count BoxesIf you're diabetic/gluten sensitive this breakfast bar is great to have on hand. How fortunate to have products like this available. I don't know how people did it 20 years ago. I carry the bars with me and it's a perfect snack during the day or in a pinch when I can't eat a regular meal. Blueberries are a great antioxidant as well. Thank you Glutino! Hoping to see more products like this become available!

I personally hated these, but I also hate fig newtons and I didn't buy them for myself. I bought them for my 4 yr old son who is on a gluten-free casein-free diet and is very picky. My son needed a snack option and we wanted to sneak some fruit into his diet. Surprisingly enough, given the reviews and my own opinion, he absolutely LOVES these. So, if you have a child on a special diet, it is probably worth buying a single box and trying it out... you just never know with kids!

Newest shipment boxes state "New & Improved Taste". The texture has also changed, the bar is somewhat softer, and has a less satisfying mouth feel compared to the older formulation.

Original Review:

I don't eat a lot of different foods because I'm very particular. But these bars are good to me. They taste like a normal fruit bar so they pass my test! Just don't eat a lot at once or they will probably make you sick. The flavor, texture and size is nice. If you have a gluten free diet, I think you should try these. If you have a normal diet, these may be nasty to you. I like them and may buy again but try a different flavor.

Since we have to buy 6 boxes in bulk, I wish there was an option where we could choose more than one flavor in our order. But overall, I'm happy with this product.

Edited Review:

I have been sensitive to gluten since 2009, so I'm used to eating really nasty gluten free foods. Now that I've tasted a lot of store bought and homemade bars, I had to change my review. Now the bars are not as good when compared to other brands...but are not the worst I've had. A person not on a special restrictive diet would not enjoy them. I'm on a gluten free diet and I no longer enjoy them. Times have changed and the gluten free world is getting better, so you may want to do your research and seek out better brands or even make some yourself. They're okay, but not great.

My 9-Yr-Old says, " I LOVE THEM! I eat them every morning. They are the best breakfast bar I've ever tasted!!!" I think they are a good alternative to wheat breakfast bars, but I've had better. The texture is a bit gritty. I'm just glad my son has an option he likes.

Baked Granola Mountain Blend, 12-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 3)

Baked Granola Mountain Blend, 12-Ounce PouchesI buy these on Amazon every time I run out since they are much cheaper than purchasing them through Wholefoods.

They are low in sugar and taste delicious. I love them.

This granola is delicious, and I'm very picky. It is chewy, not overly sweet like some, and has the nutritious ingredients I love. Problem is I can't stop eating it.

Excellent granola cereal. Eat and enjoy the perfect balance of granola and fruit. If I wasn't allergic to almonds I would have bought the other varieties offered by Baked Co.

Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Extra Thick Rolled Oats -- 32 oz

Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Extra Thick Rolled Oats -- 32 ozIf you like a hearty meal...anytime...this version of Bob's rolled oats is the best: full of flavor with a satisfying crunchy texture. And, it really does not take that long to cook. One cup of oats with your favorite fruit, some flax and/or chia seeds lasts me for up to 6 hours despite my high level of daily activity. I do not have a big issue with needing gluten free but it seems to reduce bloating and gas compared to the regular oats.
