Ovaltine Chocolate Drink Mix, Rich Chocolate, 12-Ounce Container (Pack of 4)

Ovaltine Chocolate Drink Mix, Rich Chocolate, 12-Ounce ContainerOvaltine has updated their packaging and changed their formula. The new formula is very similar to Nesquik. It no longer dissolves in the milk and stays dissolved, but settles on the bottom of the glass. This was the main reason I bought Ovaltine over Nesquik; it dissolved and stayed dissolved. The new formula is a real disappointment.

What a disappointment it was to try the new Nestletized "Malt Classic Ovaltine." Gone are the granules instead, it's now a fine powder. The taste has changed too. It's not really awful still drinkable, but it's definitely not in the same league as the original that I grew up on. In my estimation, they ruined an excellent product and disappointed a loyal customer base.

I, too, noticed a change in the Ovaltine with the new packaging. It is extremely disappointing. The flavor seems a little different and the texture is definitely different. I'm not sure why they changed something that didn't need changing. I am no longer a loyal Ovaltine customer -it doesn't seem much better than Nesquik anymore.

Really simple nestle changed the formula of Ovaltine to make it cheaper to produce, and the result is a powder that has 1/4 the vitamins and half the flavor. The marketing spin is that it is somehow healthier because it has less sugar, but that's only because you are putting half the amount in. Alternatives my kids like are carnation instant breakfast which still has all the vitamins and tastes great.

I have purchased Rich, chocolate Ovaltine since my now 15 year old was old enough to drink milk, but wouldn't because of the taste. Doctor said to add chocolate. Since Ovaltine has more vitamins than the others, we started using it. Now I have 4 children all considered under weight and loved that Ovaltine made their milk palatable. My youngest and most underweight refuses to drink milk without it. Bought the new recipe a few weeks ago. Kids opened it up and the smell was horrendous! I thought it went bad. The taste was not the same either (sort of like egg nog that's gone bad). Then I noticed the "New Improved recipe". Who's the marketing genius behind this one. Yes I see less calories, sugar and sodium in the new recipe, but if I was worried about that I wouldn't be adding chocolate to my milk in the first place! PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD RECIPE. My underweight children need it!!

I've been consuming this every morning for over a year now.Wonderful with some fresh fruit or dried fruit. The smaller single serving packs are perfect for work or travel. Those of you Bariatric pts should really try this. Start your day with high protien ( add skim milk) without the bloat and sickening sweet shakes. Those shakes make you want sweets/carbs, as do all sweet tasting foods.I stay clear of them.

Not only is this good, but it also has some protein and fiber , something missing in a lot of WFGF foods. We have enjoyed all of Kay's WFGF foods, they have flavour without the aftertase we find in a lot of the other WFGF items.

Lyles Golden Syrup - Original - 12 BottlesLots of natural high protein bar and muffin recipes call for honey which is like buying liquid gold. This is a great substitute for it and not too sweet.

For the decadent side, I have not tried it in the pecan pie yet but will to see what all the raving is about. I am sure it is well founded and staying away from corn syrup is always a bonus.

Weetabix Whole Grain Biscuit Cereal, 14-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

Weetabix Whole Grain Biscuit Cereal, 14-Ounce BoxesIf you live near Trader Joes in the USA you can buy a box of Weetabix for $2.39! Other super markets sell them for as much as $3.99/$4.99. I'm from the UK and never have a problem finding this childhood favourite cereal.

: )

When I saw Weetabix in my local grocery a few months ago, I just had to try it! How many breakfast foods do you know of, that get mentioned frequently in British novels and on BBC television programs?

Not surprisingly, the whole grain "biscuits" are delicious. They're nutritious, too: two biscuits with skim milk (no sugar required) provide 170 calories (10 from fat), 130mg sodium, 150mg potassium, 0.5g fat, 29g carbohydrates (including 4g dietary fiber and 2g sugar), 4g protein, no cholesterol, and a few vitamins and minerals. The biscuits themselves (24 to a package, or 12 servings) are light, crisp, and flaky.

According to the package, "Weetabix is great on its own or with milk". However the biscuits are very dry, so I can't imagine eating them plain. When you add low-fat milk (1% or 2%), the biscuits soak the milk up very quickly. If you don't eat your Weetabix right away, the biscuits will break apart and your morning cereal will be a little soggy.

But I like Weetabix, even when it's soggy, because of the delicate flavor and pleasant texture. Weetabix has now replaced my previous favorite adult fiber cereal, Post Shredded Wheat Original Cereal, Spoon Size, and has become an almost daily habit. In fact, I like Weetabix so well, I ordered a 2-1/2 month supply (also 72 servings, but packaged in smaller, single-insert boxes, making it more expensive per ounce; see Barbara's Bakery Weetabix, 7-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12) from Amazon!

I normally import my Weetabix all the way from England (being from England myself, Weetabix was always a firm favorite of mine for breakfast), so was delighted when I saw Amazon were selling it at a much better price.

I had hoped that Weetabix is Weetabix, and taste wouldn't differ too much even if the product was made by a different company. This product is made by some company in America, and it did taste different to the brand I typically buy from England.

Unfortunately, I didn't like it. It had a strange flavor that just didn't appeal to me. I'm sure it's a preference thing though, and there will be plenty of people who like this just as much (or maybe even better than) the British alternative. I, however, will be going back to importing my Weetabix from England.

This cereal is great! Whole grain and heart healthy. Plus its just fun to say youll be eating a wheat biscuit for breakfast. This stuff isnt just good with milk on it either, it is also good crumbled over yogurt, {and its less fattening then granola too.} The only down side is that it does get soggy quickly in milk, so if you like a crunch eat it one biscuit at a time. enjoy!

Heartland Malted Chocolate Belgian Waffle - All In One, Complete Mix - 80 Ounce Bag (Pack of 1) 5 l

Heartland Malted Chocolate Belgian Waffle - All In One, Complete Mix - 80 Ounce Bag 5 lbs.The Chocolate Belgian Waffle mix was everything it was advertised as, we enjoyed the waffles, they light airy and not as sweet as one would expect, will buy this product again, there are no chips in the mix you may want to add a few white or dark chips if you have a sweet tooth.

This is an all inclusive mix, just add water and wait 15m to use. The make a wonderful Belgian Waffle (have not tried pancakes). The bag is a little bit of a unwieldly when your only making 2 or 3 Waffles at a time (as I have been); but well worth the effort. Will be ordering more shortly.

The biggest positive of this mix is that it's "complete" -everything is included in the mix, in powdered form, so all you have to do is add water and cook. And the water/mix ratio is very simple (2 parts water, 3 parts mix), so you don't even need a measuring cup -you could literally measure out the right amounts of mix and water using a regular glass or cup. This makes the mix ideal for young adults in an apartment: Chocolate pancakes, with almost no cooking skill required.

The taste of the product is OK, but not particularly chocolaty or rich. My family thought it tasted sort of like a McDonald's chocolate shake, rather than like a cup of Starbuck's hot chocolate. You can punch it up by throwing some chocolate chips into the mix when cooking.

While the taste is OK, the texture is less so. The pancakes we made with this mix came out kind of rubbery. I guess it's intended solely for waffles.

After combining the water and mix, you're supposed to let the batter rest for 15 minutes. Although I've had other recipes call for a rest period, in this case it negates part of the advantage of a simple water-and-mix product. I'd like to use this mix when in a hurry, and the 15-minute pause adds a lot of cycle time.

The bag I received in mid July 2013 had a "best by" date of August 2013, just one month later. I can't imagine using a five-pound bag of mix in four weeks. If this product is intended for restaurants that go through a lot of mix quickly, that's fine, but when selling to consumers I wish Heartland would manage its stock differently and ship product with more shelf life left.

Bottom Line: I wanted to love this mix. Chocolate pancakes/waffles are all goodness, and I like supporting a good Midwestern company. But the taste is only OK, the texture isn't great, and the mix was near the end of its rated shelf life, so I have to give this product a so-so rating. I'm going back to my Carbon's malted waffle mix -it isn't chocolate, but it makes the most amazing waffles, with incredible taste and texture (although it also requires adding butter and eggs in addition to liquid).

Bad, bad, bad for the waistline! Especially when you toss in mini chocolate chips, pecans, and shredded coconut. O.O They made the whole house smell wonderful too.

When used for waffles the outside becomes nice and chewy with a soft, fluffy, cake-like inside. The mix itself isn't too sweet, which is good. That gives you the option to add other ingredients if you want. Bananas or strawberries would taste wonderful sliced on top.

I love these mixes. We also have the vanilla, strawberry, and blueberry. They freeze very well so don't worry about a batch making too many. A small batch makes anywhere from 4-5 good sized Belgian waffles. I will usually toss leftovers in a freezer bag and pop them into the toaster just like store bought waffles.
