Chia Granola

Grain-free GranolaScrumptious and morish is the only way to describe this product. When it first arrived in the post I couldn't wait for breakfast to come round again so we had it for dessert at dinner time. The cinnamon is very evident in this product which is great because I love cinnamon. My husband and I both loved it and we're about to order some more. Buy it, you won't regret it.

My daughter and I both love this as it is not as sweet as most granolas and it is so good for us.

I am very particular about the granola that goes on my Greek yogurt, and this one is my favorite. It's totally grain-free and has lots of healthy goodness in it, so I feel good about putting it in my body. Best thing is, it's really tasty to boot! I personally really enjoy the cinnamon you can definitely taste it, but it's not too strong at all. I have found myself grabbing chunks of the granola and eating it straight from the bag more and more when I'm at work and need energy. Great product!

Before trying this granola I would have said a grain free tasty granola was impossible. I love my oats! But this Chia Granola was amazing! It tastes almost like a cinnamon raisin cookie (my favorite!) and I definitely did not miss the oats. In fact until reading the ingredients I didn't even know it was oat free! Very tasty, healthy, and recommended in Rich Food Poor Food, this granola is awesome!

Best store-bought granola. Great cinnamon flavor & nutritious. I use this on cereal, smoothies, yogurt or to snack on by itself.

Cracked Wheat, 1 lb.

Cracked Wheat, 1 lb.Barry Farms delivers promptly and their products are moderately priced. Highly recommend this vendor and their products. Very pleased.

The bag arrived in very good condition.

The one star reason:

I was very disappointed that the bag of cracked wheat was not the coarse kind but was like very fine flour. It is the coarse kind that gives bread the nutty texture we so love in our family. I don't think it was advertised clearly enough for me to catch the difference but it's been awhile since I ordered it so I could have forgotten.

Kellogg's Special K Cereal, Red Berries

Special K Cereal, Red Berries, 16.7-Ounce BoxesThis review is less about the cereal and more about the option of buying from Amazon for one of two reasons:

1) If you've never had it, you're probably not going to buy a 4-pack. More likely, you'll go to your local market and buy one box.

2) If you have had it and you're looking at this item, you're trying to decide if you want to buy a 4-pack.

I have a 4-pack delivered every month via "Subscribe & Save" and here's why:

My local groceries carry the smaller 12oz boxes for about $3-$3.50, the 16.7 oz box is usually about $5-$5.50. Bear in mind, this item is a 4-pack of 16.7 oz boxes.

The subscribe & save option from Amazon takes 15% off (did I also mention no shipping, no commitment) which lowers the $20 price tag to more like $17 for four boxes, or $4.25 per boxthat's almost a dollar off what my grocery charges!

So, I get the cereal I love, delivered to my door regularly and automatically, for almost a dollar less than what I'd have to pay if I drove to the store. It doesn't take a college education to know that's a deal!

My mother lives in Colorado and is on a very fixed low income. If I send her money she won't use it so I have found I can help her by buying her groceries off Amazon and having them sent directly to her house and this enables me to be able to help her. THANK YOU Amazon for having products like this on your site. I hope you continue to work with companies and make this affordable to have groceries shipped this way and also to save us the hassels of going to the grocery store when we can have it delivered to our house for about the same cost as going to the grocery store.

I was just two pounds shy of my Weight Watchers goal when I fell off the weight loss wagon and gained four additional pounds. Life was busy, and I wanted a fuss-free way to lose those last pounds before swimsuit season. Since I enjoy Special K products, I thought I'd put the Special K 2-Week Weight Loss Challenge to the test. I ate Special K cereal for two meals, snacked on fruits and veggies (instead of the recommend Special K snack products) and made healthy dinner choices. I didn't expect to lose 6 pounds as advertised, since my weight loss had slowed from months of dieting and I was near my goal weight. To my surprise, I lost 6 pounds and have finally reached my goal weight!

ABOUT THE DIET:

It's convenient and doesn't require much planning. However, it could get a little boring in the long run. It could also be difficult to meet daily nutritional requirements. Also, rapid weight loss could be difficult to maintain in the long run. If you've been dieting and just can't lose those last few pounds, or if you need to lose a few pounds fast for a big event, give Special K a try.

ABOUT THE CEREAL:

One can usually find a box of Special K in my kitchen cabinet. Most often, it is the Red Berries variety. I enjoy the Fruit and Yogurt flavor, as well, but the serving size is 1/4 cup less. The original flavor is also nice from time to time, but the Chocolatey Delight is just not a good idea, in my opinion. But back to the Red Berries. The cereal consists of the usual Special K flakes with dehydrated strawberries. Once I pour on my Silk Light soy milk, the berries plump up to add lots of real strawberry flavor. There are generous amounts of berries and the flakes stay crispy in milk. All in all, this is an excellent cereal that I highly recommend.

Kellogg's Special K Cereal, Red Berries, 16.7-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4), is a delicious cereal. Since Kellogg is number one -the number one producer of convenience food in the world --we know Kellogg will give us what we want while ignoring the things that do not matter to us.

What do we want?

(1) Flavor. Those real freeze dried strawberries are so delicious that we are tempted to eat them dry out of the box and leave the cereal. The cereal tastes good too. It is sweet, and there is malt flavoring that we love.

(2) Nutrition. With 110 calories per cup, we can measure out a cup and use it for diet food. It has vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium, B vitamins, and minerals.

(3) Grain. There are crispy rice and wheat flakes.

What does not matter to us? (Or does it?)

(1) Sugar. The cereal is loaded with it, but if we did not have it in the cereal, many of us would spoon in a generous application. The second ingredient is sugar. Is that cane or corn? Also listed in the ingredients is high fructose corn syrup.

(2) Nutrition. It is hard to stop with one cup full because we are used to feeling full. A cup of light cereal takes us through the motion of eating slowly . . . that's a plus . . . but does not satisfy the way whole grain cereal does. About the added nutrition: some of us don't need all of what it gives us, or maybe we really do prefer to take them in pill form so we know we exactly what we are getting. Many of us take in more iron than is considered healthy for our specific needs. What your physician will tell you about this issue may be surprising.

(3) Grain. If we are allergic to wheat, we need to pay attention to the label. Also there is corn in the form of fructose. What we are getting is highly refined grain products when whole grain would be better for our health by providing fiber.

With the price out of the range of what we usually spend on breakfast foods, I don't find it a good value.

Want Kellogg's Special K Cereal, Red Berries Discount?

I love this cereal and I eat it regularly, but at $20 for 4 boxes, you're paying $5 a box, which is outrageous. You can find it in stores for $2 a box, which means that you're paying a 150% markup.

In short: great cereal, terrible price.

Bio-Strath Bio-Strath

Bio-Strath Whole Food Liquid Supplement, 3.4 fl ozAs a rule it's very hard for me to know if an over the counter remedy is helping or not but I started Bio-Strath when it was taking me what seemed like forever to recover from knee surgery -I had no energy, no appetite etc. and wondered if I ever would again. Within a few days of taking Bio-Strath I felt pretty much normal. The taste is unpleasant but the effect is worth it. I stopped taking it and after a week or so began to feel enervated again. When I resumed taking it, my energy once again returned to normal. I am now trying the pills (because of the taste) and they seem to work just as well. In the beginning I was taking it 3 times a day but have now cut down to twice a day with no adverse change in my energy levels. I can't guarantee that the improvement is due to Bio-Strath but the evidence seems to point that way.

I'm not fond of giving reviews, or of taking medication, but really, if ever a glowing review should be written, it should be for this product: BioStrath (liquid). I tend to get colds easily and they (unfortunately) tend to last for more than 5 days. Now I've found that when I use BioStrath as recommended, three times daily, at the first sign of feeling unwell, by the second day I feel noticeably better as though my body is really fighting off the germies. And my recovery time is dayssss shorter.

Great booster too when dealing with long fatiguing hours of travel, or any stressful situation. I can't say enough good things about BS! Don't want to sound like an infomercial (!), but I feel more confident having a bottle of BS by my side!

As a college student, I face high levels of stress due to a heavy workload and ever-pressing deadlines. Whenever I find myself feeling overwhelmed, I had this supplement to my diet and find that it helps me feel less anxious and worn out during the most difficult moments at school. I highly recommend this product to anyone else who wants another weapon in their stress-coping arsenal.

This is an excellent tonic. It was recommended as part of a diet to recover from a cronic disease and it is working wonders. Also for people with low iron in their blood you need B vitamins to absorbe iron, this is a perfect solution. Liquid is more available to the body than the tablets, but both are effective.

Independent tests of school children have shown a marked increase in general health and ability to concentrate resulting in higher test scores. Just put bio-strath in your favourite search engine and see what pops up.

Embrace life, this is the only world we have . . .

Gourmet Italian Biscotti - by Coffaro's Baking Company (Pack of 3)

Coffaro's Baking Company Hazelnut with Orange Zest Olive Oil Biscotti, 8-Ounce BoxesRarely does a biscotti ever have in reality all the goodies that the picture on the box promises.

Coffaro's Almond & Cherry Olive Oil Biscotti deliveries the detail.

Visit their website and discover that Coffaro is a family-run business, with only one product allowing them to do one thing, and to do it very very well: they make biscotti.

There's no stinginess the ingredients are top notch. The variety of almonds they use are fat, slightly rounded and a little bit small. Small is plentiful and small is good in this case; these aren't the big mild-flavored things that show up in your bridge mix. Instead, these almonds are so rich with the Amaretto flavor, that almond note of pure almond extraxt that you'd swear that you smell the almonds before you crunch them. They aren't broken bits of almonds either that's for lesser manufacturers. These are whole, fresh and delicious. the most striking thing is how many of them turn up in each package tremendously impressive in a world where other companies wave a single almond at the vat of cookie dough and call it good.

The cherries make for a tender chewy punctuation between all the crisp, wonderful biscotti and crunchy, flavorful almonds. The biscotti itself is slightly smoother than most, slightly denser than many of the crumbly bars offered up in premium coffee shops, yet the bite, the mouthfeel, all perfectly craggy, crunchy and satisfying.

The Coffaro's traditional recipe is easy on the sugar, which is another factor that lets the texture and the almonds' flavor shine through as the top stars. Do not fear the olive oil; this is clearly the second or third pressing elixir, containing all the healthy lipids, but none of the chlorophylls nor savory flavors of the extra-virgin type.

Can't wait for the next Subscribe-n-Save shipment of these terrific bites of Italian tradition already gave a box away to friends and they want more too.

If I could submit a photo, you could see what I mean. The package shows a biscotti chock full of pistachios, when in actuality I am lucky to find one in each cookie. Not sure if all of their assortments are the same, but I was disappointed in this one. Good taste, goes great with a cup of hot tea. Needs more of what is pictured on the box.

The Coffaro's Almond Biscotti is very good but over priced. I can get a similar biscotti product that is just as good for less at Cost Plus World Market. I want to stress that the Coffaro biscotti was very tasty and we did enjoy it. It all depends on how much you want to pay!

I love biscotti and I always keep an eye out for new bicotti to try. I found this on Amazon while doing a search and have to admit that the packaging really caught my eye, and the ingredients (hazelnut, orange zest, and olive oil) intrigued me. My three boxes arrived yesterday and I couldn't make a cup of coffee fast enough to try these with.

They did not disappoint! In fact, they are divine. They have a delicate hazelnut flavor with a dash of exciting orange zest that aren't lost when dunked in coffee. They're also not too sweet, they're just right. They are the small-sized biscotti (a bit bigger than a man's thumb) and have a nice texture that is different from your typical super-hard crunchy biscotti (they have a smoothness that I'm guessing is the olive oil).

These are an indulgent treat that I'd feel proud to serve to friends with coffee or tea. I'm looking forward to trying their other flavors.

We ordered several different types after trying the Lemon Zest and Blueberry biscotti. While they have a softer texture than Nonni's brand biscotti, we found them to be delicious, either alone or dipped in coffee. We were delightfully surprised that the Olive oil did not override the hazelnut and orange flavors.

Kashi Good Friends Cereal, 13 Ounce

Kashi Good Friends Cereal, 13 OunceThis is my favorite Kashi cereal. I don't know why it is not carried in the grocery stores in my area anymore, but I am happy I found it on Amazon. This is a healthy great tasting cereal that keeps me full until lunchtime.

This is one of the most versatile cereals out there. As a bowl of cold cereal it is a good choice. As a hot cereal (made hot with hot milk) it is a better choice than others. If you like bran muffins then you'll like muffins made with Kashi Good Friends and they are high in fiber and low in calories as well as very tasty.

Easily the best cereal on the market, Kashi: Good Friends Cereal is the perfect blend of crunchiness, flavor, fiber, and protein, without a cloying sweetness. Pretty much everything you'd want in a cereal. I'm also a big fan of Good Friends: Cinna-Raisin Crunch. My only question: Who's friends with whom? Is it the cereal barrels that are good friends with the cereal twigs? Or is it me, am I good friends with the cereal itself?
