I would not have even known about such a thing were I not watching a PBS program about Sweden and its native recipes. Great with crepes, they taste like a cross between an orange and raspberries. I highly recommend giving them a try.Cloudberries, of course they would taste wonderful. This is a remarkable preserve from Sweden. Cloudberries, where have you been my whole life?
On the PBS television show New Scandinavian Cooking, a beautiful cake called for the addition of a small amount of this lovely preserve on top. A search turned up this fantastic preserve from Sweden.
Hafi of Sweden has done a remarkable job creating a jam that is just the right amount of sweet and maintains some whole Cloudberry shape. Cloudberries are difficult to describe, they have the texture of strawberries, the color of peaches, and have the flavor more like gooseberry slightly tart, slightly earthy.
Although this is an expensive preserve, it is worth every penny for the little bites of heaven on toast.
