TeeChia Gluten Free Super Seeds Cereal, Blueberry Date, 10.6 Ounce

TeeChia Gluten Free Super Seeds Cereal, Blueberry Date, 10.6 OunceI used to always eat Steelcut oatmeal but I am so bored of it, and it doesn't have much in the way of protein. I discovered this product and love it because it has way more protein from chia, flax, etc. and is so versatile! I can't stand flavored hot cereals, they always put too much sugar in it. I love that this is lightly sweet and naturally sweetened so I can dress it up.

I love eating it 2 different ways:

1. I just put a few tablespoons into a smoothie that I sometimes blend in the morning. Its good for extra fiber and the little bits of dried fruit and yummy.

2. I eat it like I used to eat my oatmeal I add hot water, then top it with plain greek yogurt, add chopped bananas for sweetness and nuts.

I saw the other review, and I agree I wouldn't eat it alone, to me it is a healthy base that you can customize however you prefer.

My attitude: if something is healthy, just eat it, even if it's not the tastiest thing you'll eat today, and I eat plenty of things that many others won't simply because it's nutritionally better for me. In those cases, I just power through the blandness and unpleasantness.

And yet, even with that approach, it was hard to eat this stuff. It just isn't good, and even though it's quite healthy, it was still more of a struggle for me than many other healthy-but-not-very-good foods.

It's not horrible no gagging, no spitting, no nose-holding. But its bland, bitter, almost dirt-like taste and texture made me want to just eat it as quickly as possible and be done with it. No enjoyment here, but as far as a fuel that will keep you feeling full for a reasonable period, it can be (perhaps only) that.

I won't buy it again. It is healthy and that's what it's marketed as, but the nutrition is nothing so extraordinary that can't be fairly easily obtained elsewhere. The cinnamon cranberry variety was actually a bit worse, but barely.

I really like it! You have to follow the instructions on the box, it takes couple minutes add water, stir, wait for water to absorb, then add you favorite dairy/non-dairy milk. Tastes pretty good for me with almond milk. It's not really sweet. When I tried it the first time, I didn't like it, but I added a bit more almond milk and gave it another try.

It's a good cereal for me. But I don't think my 5 y.o. will eat it, or my husband. It's more like a cereal for health-concerned adults. :)
