Purely elizabeth Ancient Grain Granola Cereal Original, 12-Ounce (Pack of 3)

Purely elizabeth Ancient Grain Granola Cereal Original, 12-OunceThe granola itself is very good... but, it could be much better if the company used less cinnamon (at least half the amount}.

Too much cinnamon tends to leave a bitter taste and cling to the tongue.

This is by far the best tasting granola I have tried. It offers a unique mix of ingredients that complement a healthy diet. I purchased my first bag from Whole Foods. Now that I know how good it is, I will be ordering in bulk to save money. The only negative is the portion size listed is not a realistic portion unless you are just sprinkling it on another cereal or yogurt. I eat it by itself and eat at least a double portion. I wish it had a little less agave. It would taste just as good and have fewer calories.

... And that is saying a lot. I have been making my own granola for years and was content to never buy it in a store again. My toddler had different plans, however, when she slipped this into our shopping cart at a health-food store while on vacation. My husband paid and figured I'd put it in the cart; he never suspected this was a stowaway. We were both surprised that we'd made this accidental purchase when we arrived at home I mean, an $8 bag of granola?! Later that night I had a bowl with milk as a snack and oh. my. goodness. I grabbed that bag and read through the ingredients, wondering how the heck this Elizabeth person got that perfect crunch. It's not break-your-teeth crunch here, it's subtle, almost a soft crunch. Amazing texture. Wonderful flavor. Healthy ingredients. I am completely hooked on this stuff. I won't dare try the other flavors because granola perfection is in the original. As soon as I find puffed amaranth, I'm going to try and make this at home.

ETA: the subscribe and save price is too high. You're not saving much money when this cereal sells for $6.99 at whole Foods (and is on sale frequently enough). I think ordering in bulk warrents a savings of more than a few measly cents.

I just tried this for the first time today. I've been gluten-free for three years, and while there are certainly fairly good gluten-free granolas out there this is by far the best. Not only does it taste great, it's not overly chewy like others, it doesn't contain rice flour flakes, the dried fruit in it is not like chewing on old tar pieces, and the ingredients are so much better, which more than justifies the small price increase above other g-free granolas of the same size. I could do with a little less sweetness I think (plus, I eat it with coconut milk beverage, so that adds some already), but the stuff tastes like a delicious healthy dessert to me. I already don't like much sugar to begin with, so I imagine most people won't feel as if it's overly sweet. It's also made with coconut oil awesome, and coconut sugar awesome. I was surprised by how much I liked this stuff. Thanks, Purely Elizabeth, for the terrific food. I look forward to trying more from you, and I'll definitely recommend you to readers of my food and health blog.

This is the most delicious granola I have ever eaten. It is sweet, salty, crunchy, oaty, everything I want my granola to be. I am aware that it is very healthy as well, but I am hooked on the taste.

Lydia's Organics Berry Good Cereal Organic -- 16 oz

Lydia's Organics Berry Good Cereal Organic -- 16 ozThe product is very pricey but well worth it in both flavor quality. There were ample amounts of berry's and of course plenty of grains. My only complaint with all of Lydia's cereals is the quality of the plastic package. Do not order with a heavy object in the same package.

Amazing Grass Kidz SuperFood

Amazing Grass Kidz SuperFood Powder, Wild Berry Flavor, 6.5-Ounce CanisterOur family used this for years and even despite food allergies, we were able to use this. Now the formula has changed.

These ingredients are no longer listed on the label:

"Dutch Processed Cocoa Powder, Natural Vanilla"

In their place you will now find:

"Natural Flavors"

A call to the company and I was informed the flavors were a proprietary formula and they would not tell me what the ingredients were now.

Sadly, we are no longer able to use this product, as we do not eat anything we cannot know what the ingredients are "exactly".

I returned the unopened containers and advised my local grocer about this as well.

My three year old son loves this and drinks about three glasses a day.

We both have malnourishment issues so I try to make sure any food we eat

is as healthy as possible. This drink mix has made it possible for my son

to not need supplement in a pill form. It does not taste like Hershey syrup,

but my son doesn't mind because he has never had Hershey syrup. It is hard to dissolve in cold milk so I mix it with warm water first then add the dissolved "syrup" into the milk. I make it in a shaker cup and I make enough for at least one day and that works well. Oh and once it's open it needs to be kept in the refrigerator. You can buy it at Whole Foods and some Vitamin stores but it's cheaper on Amazon. We have been using this for about two years.

Now my kids don't ever have cool-aid type drinks, so to them, this taste like a treat! We take this every day (I only do a 1/2 scoop, to last longer, with 3 kids!) and it has done a world of good for us (along with a powder probiotic, buffered Vit C powder -with magnesium and stuff like that-and glutamine powder) we do this power drink )using mostly water, and a little apple juice) and my kids have been healthy ALL WINTER! This has never happened before. We are pretty healthy eaters, no sweets, etc. but this is truly amazing!!! (I have a first grader, and 2 preschoolers). HIGHLY recommend this . Oh, and we are also very sensitive to different foods (gluten, dairy, etc) but eating this before we eat those foods helps them to be not so sensitive!

Hello! I agree that the fact that the can is not full is a waste of money and I think that they should fix that immediately. The taste is different and maybe not so sweet like actual chocolate milk but that is why its good for the kids. I have never used this with only water because its chocolate and it just seems gross! I always use 1 oz of water and mix the powder in and it completely dissolves then i add in the milk and mix it and my very very very picky fussy 2 year old son loves it!!!! He wont touch veggies no matter how i season them or cook them, he eats only a few fruits but not enough to satisfy the daily suggestions. So this is quite a life saver for me! I have used it for my self not the kid version and i love it to although i have tasted this version as I taste most things before i give them to my son and it wasnt bad at all. So the only complaint i have is that the can is not full and the amount of money spent on one can is really outrageous! FILL UP THE CAN AND MAKE IT WORTH THE MONEY YOU CHARGE US FOR IT!!!!

I bought this product in hopes of getting some vegetable nutrition into my kids. Being vegetarians I have always worried about them getting enough vitamins and nutrition to grow healthy. Since they are only 2 and 17 months old, lets just say they are less than pleased with all the veggies! So after finding this i gave it a try. I was shocked at how much they love it! The nice thing is that it has a great chocolate taste, they think they are getting chocolate milk everyday... which is just like a treat to them. I have noticed a vast improvement on they amount of energy they have and there immune system even seems stronger. I would greatly recommend this product for kids or adults. Getting your kids there greens has never been so easy, and prices you can't beat!

Irish Black Pudding 8oz

Irish Black Pudding 8ozReceived the black pudding yesterday. The dry ice had long ago evaporated and the pudding was only slightly cool to the touch.

Tried it this morning. Similar to Irish version but a bit more bland. Also, it contains substantially less grain filler . Closer to Canadian blood sausage than to Irish Black Pudding. It will do when you can't get the real thing.

This arrived at least a week late with no refrigeration. Upon opening the package, I found it was warm and smelled a bit strange. I would have sent it back, but it was stinking up my home and had to be disposed of. As for a refund, I'm still wondering if I want to banter with the monkeys who sent it. It took them long enough.

If you like british black pudding do not buy this. It is not like true black pudding as it falls apart as you cook it and, it don't have same taste.

Arrived chilled. All of the dry ice packing had evaporated by the time I received it. I understand why the high price for shipping. The product is very good. Family had never tried anything like this. Actually used this in an apetizer for family Christmas gathering. Fried it oil-less, served on a cracker topped with goat cheese and cooked blueberries. Wonderful flavor. The spices linger on the tongue. Will buy from again. Highly recommended to try.

an overall good pudding spoiled by the use of way too much allspice. The spice overpowers the pudding. It's downright off putting.

Seattle's Best Coffee Breakfast Blend Ground Coffee, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 3)

Seattle's Best Coffee Breakfast Blend Ground Coffee, 12-Ounce BagsThis "Level 2" dreck is not even close to the Seattle's Best Breakfast Blend you may have enjoyed in the past. Not dark. Not rich. Mediocre at best. The note on the label is downright deceptive. This "Four Levels" foolishness is one of those cases of fixing something that was not broken. I have sadly been forced to give up on Seattle's Best.

I discovered this coffee at Burger King of all places. Normally coffee from fast food places left no impression, it was just coffee, but I immediately tasted the difference with this brand.

It has a very subtle hint of chocolate, smooth, earthy and no bitterness. It's the best coffee I've tasted.

I went to the counter to ask them if they could tell me what coffee they used. The girl picked up a package and it was Seattle's Best Level 2. Now it's my coffee of choice and I'm glad you can buy it here on Amazon.

As a long-time Seattle's Best coffee customer, I was confused by the new packaging and have had several communications with their 'customer service' reps. It turns out that this coffee is mis-labeled so don't expect to get what you order. And don't expect anything other than a form letter from SB.

There is nothing good I can say about this coffee. I thought at first that I was drinking Maxwell House. I checked the package to see if it was still 100% Arabica and.....nope, nothing there about that. Clearly Starbucks has reformulated to add cheaper beans, and it tastes like it. Don't waste your money on this product, you can get bad coffee much less expensively.

With all the hype about starbucks ... I would have thought this coffee would have tasted better. The smell was the first hint that this coffee would not measure up. Then the taste confirmed that fact. The extra fine grind may contribute to the slightly bitter taste. I'm a "Chock full O' nuts" drinker, and have been for years. After being accustomed to hearing constant compliments about my coffee from guests at my home, I'd be embarrassed to serve this nasty stuff. I'm pleasantly surprised that I can find my FAVORITE coffee on Amazon. I'll certainly not be ordering this overhyped coffee again!

Raw Revolution Organic Live Food Bars, Chocolate Coconut Bliss, 1.8-Ounce Bars (Pack of 12)

Raw Revolution Organic Live Food Bars, Chocolate Coconut Bliss, 1.8-Ounce BarsI've tried most of the organic bars on the market to date. I consider the "Organic Food Bar" brand to be the gold standard, and I've enjoyed them for years. The Raw Revolution bars are proving to be just as good, and they are considerably cheaper. At the moment, Amazon is tied for the cheapest price I've seen for Organic Food Bars: 0.97 cents/ounce.

Amazon has the cheapest price I've seen for Raw Revolution bars: 0.60 cents/ounce! That is over a 30% difference. Its 1.31 for a 2.2 oz bar. Retail is 1.99/bar; and that is what they are on the Raw Revolution website, too.

I love the taste; it had not occurred to me that some folks wouldn't like them until I read some of the reviews here. Then again, it is easy for me to learn to like foods that are healthy. Both of these bar lines seem high in fat to me (my dieting Mom won't eat them), but it is all healthy fat. I would like to see more of a Zone diet ratio (more protein). They could have a bit less sweet for my taste, but that goes for every bar I've ever tried.

Its funny (and makes so much sense) that Raw Revolution has so many chocolate flavors. Also, the Raw Revolution folks I met at the Outdoor Retailer show were some of the nicest folks; very liberal with their samples, too ;-).

I wish that health food stores (and online merchants) would post the price per ounce for the plethora of bars that are out there. Maybe they don't want to draw attention to how expensive many of these products are! I am very resistant to paying over a dollar an ounce for bars, especially when these all organic, high quality bars are less than that.

So the dollar an ounce limit for a 2.4 ounce bar is $2.40; for a 2.2 ounce bar it is $2.20, and so forth.

For good bars that are only .41/ounce on Amazon, you can't beat Clif bars, 70% organic; a good staple. Probably the healthiest food at 7-11, if you're hungry and stuck. Clif Builder bars (chocolate) are good too; more of a "normal" chocolate crunchy bar.

Cheers!

Wasatch Bill

I bought one box each of the raspberry/chocolate and hazelnut/chocolate bars looking for a healthy aternative to the grocery store granola bars that contain high fructose corn syrup. Somehow, I thought they would have a granola bar type of texture, but they aren't even close. My first reaction was that they had an unpleasant smell and funny aftertaste but that was my first reaction to beer, too, and I managed to get over that. They are definitely an adult, acquired-taste kind of snack. Now I look forward to having one as a mid-afternoon snack, depending on what I've already eaten or plan to eat that day, because they are a fairly high calorie (276), high fat (15g) little treat. Probably their best contribution to one's overall diet is the protein (7 grams or 13% DV).

These bars are quite good actually. They are chocolatey and you can taste the coconut and nuts, but they are not sickeningly sweet like most coconut & chocolate bars. Plus they are moist and the size of the bar is just right. If you are expecting a candy bar type item you will be disappointed this is not dipped in chocolate, rather the chocolate is mixed right in. But if you're looking for a healthy snack that energizes you without the sugar burnout you get from other 'energy' bars then these are worth a try. I am quite pleased with them and am going to order some more.

This is by far my favorite of the all the raw foods bars I've tried. The coconut-cashew dominate most of the flavor and texture of this delicious, rich and unbelievably nutritious bar. I had to keep reminding myself that it's organic, vegan, and raw, because it sure doesn't taste like what you'd expect something in that class of food to taste like! Don't pass on this bar whether you're into raw food or not. Superb.

I don't know what the GI is for these bars, but they really manage to keep me full for hours. I split one for breakfast and a snack a few hours later, and it does the trick. When I start my day off with a Luna bar, i am hungry just an hour later. They are sweetenned with Agave nectar which does not affect your blood sugar as much as sugar, nothing artificial and everything organic and raw makes these actually good for you! They do taste a lot like figs and cashew butter, which might turn some people off but I think its delicious! Raspberry Chocolate flavor is amazing too. Calorie count is 276, which is fine for breakfast and lunch combined.

Sunrise Blend with Quinoa Flakes (8 ounce)

Sunrise Blend with Quinoa FlakesThis has become my go to breakfast. I soak 1/4 C overnight with 1/4 C fat free greek yogurt and 1/2 C milk, frozen fruit like peaches, 4 frozen pecan halves, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a tsp of honey. Prepare yourself to be licking the bowl when you're done. It's the best grab and go breakfast there is.

Bear Naked All Natural Granola, 12 Ounce Pouches (Pack of 6)

Bear Naked All Natural Granola, Banana Nut, 12-Ounce PouchesI love granola and cereal in general, but I have to say that this is the very best granola I have ever had. The people at Bear Naked have a philosophy that I love, and which is on the back of every bag: "we believe food should be hand-made from wholesome and natural ingredients you can actually pronounce." Although I do eat processed food, I appreciate the appeal of the more traditionally prepared foods, and this granola tops the list for nutrition and taste.

Like most granola, it is high in calories and fat, but take note that the fat comes largely from the nuts contained (it also contains expeller pressed canola oil), and it has no trans fat, and only 1.5g of saturated fat per serving. This cereal is softer than most granola, though not soft enough for me to consider it chewy. It does have large chunks of nuts and also contains cranberries and flax seed, for optimal nutritional and digestive health.

The six-pack sold on Amazon makes the price per package reasonable (the ingredients are quite expensive), so as a value proposition, I think this is not only a great product, but a great buy.

Delicious and nutritious: a great combination that I recommend highly.

This granola is really good, but the stuff from Amazon is not fresh. The whole bag is a solid brick of granola when you receive it. It is pretty stale. I've gotten it several times, and my experience has been consistent.

I hesitate to write a review about a food because, well, one man's meat is another man's poison ... I like the not-too-sweet and minimally processed taste of this brand; the Banana flavour is our favourite. The Fruit and Nut flavour lacks a little oomph and the fruit inside is too tangy for my taste buds (so maybe TOO minimally processed?). Also, remember that 'All Natural' is NOT organic, even if you find this in the health food section of your grocery store. Our local Target also carries this brand of granola and has the best price for it.

Guess what I'm eating right now?

You guessed it...Bear Naked Banana Nut Granola!

I was in the organic section of a grocery store the other night, looking for low-fat granola. (I'm on a low-fat diet to help combat elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. *wince*)

I bought myself a 12 oz. packages of the Banana Nut, as well as the Bear Naked Peak Protein Granola. The latter was so-so, but the Banana Nut? YUM!

It's delicious plain, in my opinion, but you could certainly eat it with milk/soy milk as cereal, or mix in with some yogurt.

There are 11 servings per bag (about 1/4 cup) and here are some nutritional facts per 1/4 Cup:

140 calories (60 from fat)

Total Fat 7 g (10% DV)

NO Trans Fat

NO Cholesterol

5 mg sodium

17 g carbs (3 g dietary fiber, 5 g sugars)

3 g protein

If you love organic, hand-made, nutritional products, Bear Naked Banana Nut is wonderful! It contains almonds, and tastes a bit like dried banana chips + tasty granola.

(P.S. The price here at Amazon is a STEAL! I would have paid over $10 more if I would have bought the same quantities at the grocery store!)

This stuff is awesome. A great-tasting mix of all-natural granola, WHOLE almonds & walnuts, and banana chips that make breakfast the best meal of my day! I'm not a huge banana fan, but the flavor here is perfect: the bananas don't overpower the nuts and vice-versa. What I like the most is that every mouthful is a little different, depending on the mix of banana, granola, and nuts you happen to get. Great with milk or as a snack. Even though the bag looks small in comparison with the boxes of cereal on the grocer's shelf, you get nearly the same amount of stuff, and the quality is 1000% better than any other granola on the market (just compare the list of ingredients and you'll see what I'm talking about.) Highly recommended, also try the Apple Cinnamon and Fruit & Nut varieties.

_______________________

Significant changes Zinc Gluconate instead of Zinc Sulfate (Zinc Gluconate has longer shelf life and is not as readily absorbed as Zinc Sulfate), Evaporated Cane Juice is first in Carbohydrate Blend instead of Brown Rice Dextrins, no more Antioxidant Blend, Sodium Selenate is gone, more various "Gums", no more Soy Lecithin, Stevia is a sweetener now as well... Also there is now 1g of Saturated Fat where before there was 0g...

It still tasted fine to me, I put 4 stars instead of 5 because they took out the Antioxidant Blend :-(

_______________________

UPDATE May 1. 2012

I downgraded my review because of the fact they took out the Antioxidant Blend, yet still heavily advertise on their website and label that it is Antioxidant rich ... That's deceptive. There is only 50mg each of fruits and vegetables per drink. That's hardly enough to provide 10 servings worth of antioxidants, just so you know, 50 mg = 0.001763 oz

I was the biggest Orgain fan, purchasing many cases a month. They have recently changed the formula and the new taste is bad and very different. Also, they've removed the antioxidant complex. They also added a sweetener Stevia which I don't understand. Usually, sweeteners are added to make products taste better, not worse. I wish they'd wouldn't have messed with a great thing.

I've been searching since the days that Kashi stopped producing their meal replacement shake mix for something that tastes just as good and is just as good for you. I've tried both available flavors of Orgain and I find the chocolate to have no remnant of soy protein in its taste. The shake tastes great at room temp and amazing chilled. I appreciate that there's some remnants of veggies and fruit in the shake too.

Potential downsides:

It's not all oil, sugar, and protein....although its mostly that... So it's not exactly as good as sitting down and eating a sandwich. The shake is only made in pre-measured little boxes so there's no opportunity to save some money with a tub of a dry mix. The shakes are expensive too. The trade off is better ingredients, instead of unpronounceable and artificial junk found in say, Slimfast (although that too is mostly oil, sugar, and protein...just from worse ingredient sources). The shake is also not vegan if that's something you're looking for. There's currently only 2 flavors of the shake too, so if variety's your thing, this isn't a good shake to try out long term.

I still rate this 5 stars for the ingredients, the taste, and the fairly extensive nutrition content. I wish this had more veggies and fruit in it though...vs. 50 mg each of a fruit and veggie blend.

This tastes like real chocolate milk! I've tried Slim-Fast, Muscle Milk, and other protein shakes, but I can't stand anything that has sucralose, aspartame, or any other artificial sweetener they leave a nasty after-taste. Orgain doesn't have any of that artificial stuff and it tastes great.

I have been a longstanding and enthusiastic customer of Orgain for many years, subscribing to several cases per month. I was quite dismayed to realize that they changed the formulation. The change in taste was immediately obvious and it was NOT for the better. I compared the old with the new list of ingredients and there are a number of changes. I wish they hadn't messed with a good thing. I practically lived on Orgain before and now I can barely choke it down. It just doesn't taste good any more. Yuck!! I need to find an alternative!!

Fiber One Eighty Calories, Honey Squares, 11.75 Ounce (Pack of 4)

Fiber One Eighty Calories, Honey Squares, 11.75 OuncePros (+)

Sweeter than you'd think for 3g of sugar

Tastes like maple syrup

Great and healthy snack

Super low calorie in comparison to Special K and other cereals

40% of your day's fiber

Only 1 gram of fat

Cons (-)

It's a little gritty once you chew it down, you can really tell it's got fiber, but nothing a bowl of milk won't fix.

If you're comparing it to Kix, Special K, or any other cereal, it won't have the same texture or taste the same. It tastes really good for an 80 calorie cereal that's high in fiber and low in sugar. You can't win with everything.

My entire family LOVES this cereal! We like it with milk or dry as a snack. The only thing I don't like about it is the price.

Surf's Up! Breakfast Blend, Certified 100% Organic Coffee Pods, 18 Pods, From Aloha Island Coffee

Surf's Up! Breakfast Blend, Certified 100% Organic Coffee Pods, 18 Pods, From Aloha Island CoffeeMy first order of alohaislandcoffee.com was the Light Roast 100% Kona pods. I had just bought the Bunn My Cafe machine. The coffee tasted bitter to me, not smooth like I'd hoped. I was ready to return the Bunn My Cafe and give up on pod coffee. I called Anita at Alohaisland and she talked with me and gave me great info on over-extraction, pod brewers, Kona, different roasts. She asked me to hold on the Bunn one more week and she would send me a sample pack with more pods so I could decide. She assured me that the Bunn My Cafe was not the reason I didnt like the Light Roast Kona. Anita was correct! After trying 4 more flavors(Choco Macadamia Nut, Dark Roast, Espresso, and Hazelnut)we loved them all! Finally we had the rich smooth coffee that we had hoped for. If you are not sure which flavor pods to order first, just call Alohaisland, talk with them and they will help you decide. I have loved Dunkin Donuts coffee for years, thinking it was a light roast. I learned that its a dark roast and thats why I didnt like the Light Roast Kona. I highly recommend the Chocolate Macadamia Nut pods!!!

Man, if you have never drank Kona coffee, and you have a senseo or a similar coffee pod machine, you must try these! Sure, they are as expensive as it gets as far as coffee is concerned, but, if you really want a unique experience, and you really love coffee, you will be surprised at the subtleties of true Kona coffee. You don't have to be a conisseur of coffee to appreciate the flavor, just a lover of the stuff. The light roast much subtler than the dark roast, and much more enjoyable to the less than hardcore coffee nut, which makes these particular pods a great try for folks new to the Kona coffee market. I have no idea why coffees from different regions taste so much different, and I really don't even care! All I know is that coffee from Hawaii, especially Kona coffee, it is the best I have tasted so far, and I even think it is worth the huge amounts of cash it costs to drink it...

If the cost is too much, or you don't love coffee, then leave this stuff alone. Otherwise, you are in for a treat!
