NuGO Slim Brownie Crunch, 1.59-Ounce (Pack of 12)

If you're one of those folks who craves chocolate bars with some protein as a snack or dessert or on-the-go emergency mini-meal, and you need no gluten, and you want it to taste nice, and you don't want a lot of sugars, and you do not mind soy (this has both soy and whey isolates), this is a nice option.

I can't have a lot of soy. But sometimes, ah, well, I will give in--for some grilled tofu or some tofu red curry or nice miso soup. Well, the other day, I was at Whole Foods, looking for gluten free bar options for my purse (emergency snack ration options), and decided to give it a go, despite the soy. And whoa, liking it.

If you just care about taste--this tastes good.

If you're a crunch fiend--let's say that you like chocolate crunch candies or bars--this fits the bill.

I have used Larabars, Quest bars, Kind bars, and Paleobars, and now I can add this to the arsenal of "What can I dump in my purse when I'm out on a day of errands to stem temptations for utter crap when I'm hungry."

Wish it was just whey in there, but at least the soy is non-GMO. :D

Vegan, gluten-free, kosher, dairy-free, low sugar, moderate-carb, high fiber, with protein and real dark chocolate.... and tasty. That's pretty durn good for a processed, convenience food.

I've searched long and hard and tried dozens of protein bars. Some taste bad, some have tons of fat, some have tons of sugar, some have the even worse sugar substitutes (and claim they are low carb!).

Most low-carb/high-protein snacks and sweets are full of chemicals these bars are the opposite! OK, perhaps they don't taste like "real chocolate" but they are tasty enough, satisfy sweet-tooth cravings, and thanks to the protein+fibre content, actually make you feel quite full! We love dark chocolate, so this bar tastes great to us. It's low calorie, only 2g of sugar, 15g of protein and 9g of fiber and it's gluten free! It kind of reminds me of the Hershey Krackel candy (only in dark chocolate). My 9 year old loves these. It makes a great snack. She likes it even more then the other Nugo Dark Chocolate crunch gluten free protein bars.

I'm not a big fan of many protein bars with crisped rice or many different nuts. This one tastes like a candy bar, only I don't feel bad eating it, since it's only 2g of sugar, lower fat, loaded with protein and it's dark chocolate.

Raspberry flavor is good too, if you like raspberry with dark chocolate.

Amazing Grass Amazing Meal Mix, Chocolate, 30 Serving

I've been ordering Amazing Meal on a monthly basis for about a year now and i can't imagine my morning without it. I mix mine with milk-not water! I think their serving sizes are off, i don't use quit as much as they suggest so i get just about double the amount of servings out of mine. It's a great way to start your day or just for a snack or a pick me up!

I bought this due to the fact that this is the cheapest I have found this product per ounce. I like the flavor very much and mix it with either cow or almond milk. Delivery was quick and it was well packaged. The container has two seals; a plastic ring around the lid and an interior sealed liner. It is my breakfast five days a week!

I mix this in my Vita-mix blender every morning with coconut milk, flax seed, spinach, Kale, half a banana and a handful of frozen strawberries. OMG, it is so delicious. it looks like green sludge, but tastes soooooo good. I have subscribed, but wonder if I need to. The price of the product fluctuates daily. I paid $20 more that it was advertised for the other day. I don't understand why the cost moves around so much.

amazing meal is a very yummy meal replacement with lots of healthy ingredients. Must try product. I use unsweet vanilla almond milk in mine and my husband uses sweet vanilla almond milk, either way is good.

I've been eating this brand of granola since it first appeared at my Whole Foods. I particulary love the Vanilla Almond Crunch "Cereal" which I use like granola over my fruit and yogurt. I love that it is sweetened naturally and is low in fat. If you want a traditional granola, I also really like the Peak Protein. It is great for snacking right out of the bag and since I don't eat meat, the extra protein is needed. It kind of tastes a little like an oatmeal cookie to me. I've tried all their flavors and these are the only two I like, although I will say my husband is partial to the fruit and nut. There is a flavor for everyone!

Bobs Red Mill Thick Rolled Oats (4x32 Oz)

This is a great tasting oat product. I combine 2/3 of these oats with 1/3 oat bran. (also available from Bob's Red Mill Cereal, Oat Bran, Hot Cereal, 18 oz.) and it makes a great tasting cereal.

I usually hate oatmeal, but I love Bob's Red Mill Extra Thick Oatmeal. Unlike other oatmeals which become lumpy when microwaved, Bob's Red Mill Extra thick Oatmeal cooks to a creamy texture and has a delicate nutty flavor. The regular oatmeal is the same way, but I prefer the extra thick because it is more satisfying.

One 18 oz (510 g) Organic Whole Grain, Kasha

The product is hard to find in the US stores and more of a novelty in the States. The flavor is superior to non-roasted buckwheat (IMO). Coming from former Soviet Block, where buckwheat is very common, it is good to find this on Amazon. The small downside is that it has little more than expected kernels' skins. Did not find any small stones or anything as oppose to non-roasted buckwheat from Red Mill.

It is an okay cereal. It has tiny grains after being cooked, which I am not fond of....I like more of an oatmeal consistency. It doesn't have much of a taste, especially in the way of being roasted.

I will finish them off by mixing them with my steel cut oatmeal and not bother to buy them again.

Barbara's Bakery Puffins Cereal, Cinnamon, 10-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

Barbara's Bakery hyped the new packaging but neglected to mention that the weight went from 12oz per box to 10 oz per box. I use to purchase a 4 pack of the 12 oz old package for 15.57 and that works out to 32.4 cents per oz. the new price for a 6 pack of the 10 oz box works out to 39 cents per ounce. That's a 20% price hike in a period of low to no inflation. Thanks for the nice new package guys. I much prefer the old package at the old price and will be checking out other cereals with the intent of eliminating cinnamon puffins from my diet.

The cereal also tastes different not as good. I looked at the ingredients and noticed that in both the old and new product there is 150 mg of salt. However, in the old ingredient list cinnamon came before salt. In the new ingredient list it comes after salt. Thus, there is less cinnamon in the new cereal. You can really taste the difference. The old recipe was much tastier. Again, my hat is off to Barbara's Bakery. The price went up and the taste is not nearly as good. Great job guys.

January 20, 2011 Update: I have replaced cinnamon puffins with other cereals. Bring back the old taste which I loved so much and I'll buy again, even at the increased price.

I used to LOVE the cinnamon flavor Puffins. Unfortunately, they did indeed reduce the cinnamon flavor totally different while they changed/reduced the packaging. What a disappointment.

(#1 REVIEWER)Puffin cereals used to be one of my favorites. Cinnamon was my favorites among Puffin cereals.

The new Puffin Cinnamon is not an improvement. The size of each individual cereal was reduced. But it appears they reduced not only the size but the formula of the cereal itself. I don't like the flavor as much, it appears to be sweeter and has less cinnamon. The box size was reduced from 12 oz to 10 oz, thus becoming more expensive per oz.

I am attaching two photos: The first photo shows the new packaging highlighting the reduced size. The second photo show the ingredients and nutritional fact from the side of the box. Puffin calories are shown using a serving size of 2/3 of cup, which is a pretty small portion. The box has 9 of those servings. What I use as a serving is larger. For me each box has 4 servings. I noticed that cinnamon moved down on the ingredient list (when I compared it to the old box), which confirms my taste difference observation.

With the new packaging you get something less tasty for more money per oz. Barbara's Bakery please bring back the old cereal!

I used to buy these all the time. They tasted great, and I used them as snacks. The cinnamon taste wasn't overbearing, and it was great. It didn't have that overbearing corn taste either.

Then they changed. Why? Money grubbing is one of the ways I would explain it. Why?

1) They changed the size from 12 to 10 oz, like everyone else has done everywhere. (Notice that many major brand colas like coke and pepsi are changing to 1 liter to 1/4 smaller and raised the price. It is important to realize a major factor here. Even though the media and government do not report any inflation, that is because they haved changed the very DEFINITION of inflation. All one has to do is go to the store to see this and the gas station. Look at BASICS like Milk. If people believe there is no "inflation", they just don't buy food. Coffee anyone?

Yes I do not like it, but I see their reasons.

2) They reduced the flavor significantly. Less cinnamon taste, starting to taste more like a corn cereal rather then the original reason I purchased it.

So.... They reduced the amount you get, reduced the quality and primary ingredient you bought it for, and raised the price. That is inexcusable.

Unfortunately, other cereals are doing the same thing, so we have to be VERY careful, read the labels carefully, the cost per ounce, etc. The bottom line also, if the kids don't like it, the price is too high, and you have to buy it more frequently. it is now off my list. I recommend finding other alternatives.

Cream Of Rice Cereal, 14-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12)

I have loved Cream of Rice for years and have been searching for it in the stores forever with no luck. I decided to look on Amazon and low and behold, there it was. I just love it for breakfast with butter, sugar and milk. It fills me up and yet I don't have the bloated feeling I sometimes have with wheat cereals. I have had ileostomy surgery and this product is wonderful for me in that regard as well. I am so glad I found it again after years of doing without. I tried putting dry rice in a mill to grind it, but it sure is a lot less work getting it pre-ground this way. It works well as a binder for meatloaf and also as a thickener for soups!

Mother used to give me Cream of Rice when I was ill, as a child, and I was ill a *lot*.

Now, I'm nearly end-stage with ulcerating Crohn's disease, but still find that Cream of Rice can be digested without pain, and quickly alleviates nausea which accompanies Crohn's flares.

However, illness aside, I would still recommend it as an outstanding hot breakfast food. I'm also glad to see it here as the world-wide "Bigmart" has chased most other groceries out of our small town, and now does not consistently carry this product, nor will they respond to requests for products. My 2 yr old has a wheat intolerance and even the baby rice cereal from Gerber has lots of additives she doesn't do well with. Cream Of Rice is just plain ol rice, imagine that. Thai Kitchen Instant Rice Noodle Soup Green Onion -- 1.6 oz

Very easy to make. I added one head of bok choy and a few mushrooms and voila, a delicious, quick meal (see photo)! I love that one can control the salt intake with the packet. This version is one of two gluten and dairy free instant noodles from this company (the onion and the garlic and vegetable versions are the only gluten free AND dairy free versions of this soup according to the company's website). Must try.

People in my family have several kinds of digestive problems for which we prefer to use non-drugs. This is wonderful stuff! The taste is good and soothing, and the product works.
