The label claims "Southern style white corn grits also known as polenta." Polenta and grits are two different things. What makes grits grits is that they are made from dried hominy, not white corn. Southern-style grits are made of ground hominy, not ground white corn. The bleaching action of the alkali soak to make the grits is what turns the corn white. Beyond authenticity and texture/taste, hominy grits have a superior nutritional profile. A little truth in advertising is lacking from this product.
I cooked these according to the package directions, AND added in some sauteed onion, bell pepper and shredded cheese, and they were excellent...even reheated!

Flavorful and excellent tasting creamy grits. My daughter likes Bob's Red Mill Yellow Corn Grits. I like the white corn grits. I usually buy Quaker Old Fashion Grits, but i will buy these grits for now on. Also, 1/4 cup of Quaker Old Fashion Grits is 150 calories vs the Bob's White Corn Grits at 120 per 1/4 cup. The calories add up over time.
